First Encounter or Second Encounter?

The First Encounter works fine in vista, but strangely the Second Encounter doesn't work, I've been googling for I don't know how long and I haven't found any fixes to make it work in vista and it seems quite many has the same problem. Really weird since they both run on the exact same engine as far as I know.
