I thought that bug was quite funny, seeing as it wasn't a game breaker.
I've been playing for a few hrs now and it's okay but not up to my modded Rfactor to be honest. It's a great game for a console I assume but just feels much too dumbed down.
As an overall package they have done a great job, nice graphics and effects.
I'm impressed with it more than I thought it'd be. I don't think any game that's made for console and PC will ever rival something like rfactor, that is hardcore sim.
However it's not at all arcadey feelin to the point something like Need for speed shift was. I agree that it's a bit dumbed down though, really need more advanced settings so you can really tune the car.

Track IR spazzing out the player model or something?
I think im going to get this, i love racing games.
It's pretty hard until you get on a track for a good 20-30 minutes and get the feel for it.
It's a brilliant feeling when you keep lowering your lap times lap after lap.

It's a great feeling when you finally get round Monaco without a crash.

Rain is horrible :v:
Hooooly craaap. It's amazing. I just finished my first weekend at Sakhir, which was great. After some preliminary testing, I'm going to run the first season on Hard, with Automatic Gearbox and racing line for corners, then switch off the racing line for the other seasons.
I'm doing a 7 year career, starting at HRT. At Sakhir, I qualified 21st (targeted 20th), but it would've been higher were it not for 3 laps in a row being invalidated by me cutting the same corner slightly too much, and me going horribly wide on one of the corners on the final lap. In the first 3 laps, I managed to jump up to 16th, but after the pit stops, I was 22nd. By the 5th lap I was back up to 19th, and Senna (my team mate) had just come out out of the pits and I managed to pass him on the first straight. Then I caught up with the 3 cars ahead of me, and managed to take them all on one lap, thus I was now 16th. Then I think I caused Buemi to crash on one of the corners but I couldn't be sure, and he retired from the race (I went quite wide and slow on one of the hairpins before the penultimate straight, he tried to avoid me and somebody drove into him). Then I spent the rest of the race fruitlessly chasing Trulli who finished 8 secs faster than me. First race results: 16th. Melbourne tomorrow :D
Anyone here with a G25 got some good sensitivity settings? I have to throw my wheel into near full-lock to get around some of the tighter corners
Turn the steering saturation down if you want to turn it less in the corners.
Is there a turning lock parameter on the cars? If so, you could turn that up instead.
Is there anyway of turning the stupid auto driving off in pit etc? The graphics are amazing but I prefer the simness quality that Rfactor provides.
None the less im hooked, but once the graphics wear off then it's back to rfactor.
Causing a collision and the subsequent penalty cost me 3 positions at Sakhir.
Fucking
What the fuck? Why did america get the game fucking first, when Europe is probably the largest playerbase?
[editline]10:55AM[/editline]
And to add onto that, we get to play at 6PM at the end of our day. What retard company is Codemasters to release something in a country and then keep it back for 18 unnecessary hours.
I find it fucking stupid to release any game in seperate countries on seperate days. Why the fuck would you do that? All it does is piss people off.
I understand why they do it for physical copies, but if it's being distributed digitally like on Steam then they should get a simultaneous release.
On the official forums, they said the way around the pitstop bug at the moment is if the race is longer. If it's like 20%, everyone will come in to the pits but the longer the race, the less congested.. according to a codemasters mod.
I don't like perfect steering.

my cheating teammate didn't pit at all and got 6th place without disqualification.

How are you taking the corners?
Don't want to sound like i'm insulting you but with these kind of cars you usually have to turn into the corner slightly before you get to it, rather than waiting for the corner until you actually turn.

I thought at 20% distance pitstops were disabled? Or at least mandatory ones..
Pretty sure in the difficulty, when you set it to 30% or higher, only then pitstops become active or something
2nd race just completed at Melbourne. After a disastrous practice session, where my one single complete lap without crashing into something was 24th, I moved with low hopes onto qualifying. On my first flying lap, I set my best time of the weekend, which started me 18th on grid. After fighting to 16th, I pitted on the 4th lap and got overtaken in the pits so I was now back down to 22nd. A few laps later, I crashed into the back of Barrichello's Williams... and he retired, whilst I got a drive through penalty, which I served on the same lap. So I was now in 20th I things were looking bad (the objective was ot finish 18th). Fortunately, my slow team mate then decided to pit, along with De La Rosa. I overtook De La Rosa as he was pitting, and spent the next lap or so catching up to my team mate, before Sutil decides its a great idea to exit the pit lane in the middle of us. This actually ended up playing into my hands, as I was able to use Sutil's eventual overtake on Bruno to get past him myself, and then several corners later, I took Sutil as well. Being in 17th didn't last long though, as the faster Force India gained on me, and after braking too late on a corner, I was forced onto the grass and he passed me. Not much changed for the rest of the race, and I finished in 18th.
It's amazing how despite hardly managing to keep my car on the track during practice, in the race, I only went wide a couple of times, and broke my lap record several times as well. The sense of speed is impeccable.

No, the pits are mandatory from 20% and higher.

I got told 8/12 laps to seriously pit, so went in. Shame the amount of penalties I get takes down my position :( Practice helps.
What the hell just happened =/
I was somehow in 6th place thanks to my fluke 12th place qualifying position (as HST), and I pitted. When I left the pits, I was 22nd, and my deadweight team mate was in 7th. Huh?
Edit: Just redid the race and finished 11th, but the cheating bastard still didn't pit, however I managed to take him on the final lap, and so did De La Rosa, so he finished 13th this time, behind me. It's all good :D
I've got the feeling this is going to be exactly like the Formula 3 from GRiD, where the car flys apart and spins way too easy, making multiplayer of it full of trolls.
I've got the feeling this is going to be exactly like the Formula 3 from GRiD, where the car flys apart and spins way too easy, making multiplayer of it full of trolls.
It's not :)
Well, the multiplayer may still be full of cocks though. I never play racing games against public for that very reason.
I was informed earlier that UK gets it a day later than the rest of europe..buh...what the fuckleton.
Great. Was 6, had to pit again because my second set of tires totally wore out so I was 16th. Then in the second last round one of my tires "dies". I still don't know why and it pisses me off. This game hates me. Also I hate that the AI doesn't seem to have to pit most of the time.
Started season as Virgin-Cosworth and finished 24th first two races, I got 5 penalties in first race and 4 in second (otherwise probably finished 20th or so). Managed to get 17th in Malaysia.
Then it was Shanghai in China, I somehow got to 4th in qualifying but the car kept spinning out so I called it a day and waited in the garage, only dropping to 6th for the grid. Start of the race, around the 2nd to 3rd corner I managed to take 3rd as I was trailing Webber + Vettel. I had overtook Vettel in the race but obviously had to pit halfway through, Webber was then leading and when it was his turn I managed to get ahead, so much that I won the race by 13 seconds haha.
Also, I'm not getting this pitstop bug.. There were 5 cars moving behind but I get told to 'GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' instead of waiting. Longest i've waited is 2 seconds.

I just had to wait 14 seconds... relegating me down from my 12th place quali time to 22nd, and behind my team mate - who pitted on the 2nd lap =/

Hmmm, well i'm in career mode but I think it's hit and miss (hero or zero) at when to come in, do you go in when they say or leave it a lap? same with tires for wet and dry.
