Lol people play racing games online? There's no need - it adds nothing to the experience. They're full of people deliberately crashing and glitchers who know how to skip half a circuit out of their lap time.
I liked playing GRID with friends, and Forza on the xbox, but I don't know anyone getting this game :sigh: [editline]05:30PM[/editline] Oh, and people who think racing is cutting corners out by riding the gravel/grass/sliproads. Online is full of them.
SO excited about this, I preordered it before F1 2009 came out. Bought a 360 Wheel for it as I figured Logitech wont be bringing out a G27 wheel for the 360 anytime soon and the 911 wheel is too expensive. Been following the game and talking to the Chief Games designer on twitter and the forums for a while now, it's going to be incredible. :D
It would just be a clusterfuck of greifers making you purposely crash, like in GRID, what does it matter.
Well, was hoping more of a full grid for just racing with buddies 3 or 4 of us with a full grid of AI. I'm not one for really racing competitvley with public because as you say, people just cock fuck about and ruin it.
My Dad is going to want this.
Maybe we could host a FP championship :v: [editline]06:41PM[/editline] Not straight away, when more people get it, obviously.

Might get a g25 for this. I have a Driving Force EX at the moment, it's good... but I'd like a clutch :(
Yeah same with me. I'm wondering if there is any sort of crash penalties. In Grid you can just crash into everything (obviously GRiD isn't supposed to simulate real racing), but in a game with such a hefty title I'm wondering if they will have that implemented. Even in Grid I tried to keep my car perfect throughout the race (although it was always impossible, since the AI always found a way to T-bone me in nearly every situation).
I'm pretty damn sure this game is going to be as close to a sim as possible, there should be penalties and flags, etc.
I'm pretty damn sure this game is going to be as close to a sim as possible, there should be penalties and flags, etc.
Yellow flags, with safety cars? That would be thorough. Should be interesting as well, since being stuck behind the safety car costs you a lot of heat in your tires. Nothing half a lap won't fix though.
I remember reading/watching something about safety cars, forgot what it said though :downs: :v:
Don't worry guys - I'm 99% certain this game will have the option for fully realistic penalties and rules, simply because Codemasters have to make this game for the hardcore F1 fans and then think about everyone else later. Not least because F1 fans are notorious sticklers for detail, but also because the old F1 games were made in the same way and anything else would be a step down.
I remember reading/watching something about safety cars, forgot what it said though :downs: :v:
confirmed that there will not be a SC in F1 2010. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/f1-2010-game-1316/410056-f1-2010-safety-car-red-flag.html
Didn't you hear? Streamlined is the new black. Why add, improve or keep content or features when you can remove them?
I don't mind the lack of a safety car. What really bothers me is that I can simply force other people off the track and not be penalized. Hopefully they will have some sort of penalty system (although I seriously doubt that).
You all have to remember though that this is only the first game in a long-standing contract. Anything that is not implemented in this first title will no doubt be in next year's. They have a deadline to hit and a lot of experimentation to do on this first game.

The number of casual racing players vastly dwarfs the hardcore F1 fanbase, which means they'll just leave it the same and change a few features here and there. I want this game to sell incredibly well, I just hope they don't figure that it needs to be simplified to continue to sell well.
I think F1 always sells pretty nicely in Europe and the Codemasters name is only going to help that in light of their success with DiRT 2. It should help to remove some of the stigma of realism and inaccessibility that official F1 games have had in the past with the casual market.

I don't count the shitty Wii game. [editline]08:57PM[/editline] That wasn't developed by an in-house Codemasters team anyway.
I haven't played many other F1 games, but do they have a lap before the race to warm tyres ect? Then say the CPU takes over in positioning your car, as most people will fuck up.

[editline]08:57PM[/editline] That wasn't developed by an in-house Codemasters team anyway.
Wasn't there supposed to be a game like this, however doing the 2009 season instead, set for release on Wii, PS3, 360 and PC? I thought there was, while the Wii got it, and every other versions fizzled out in favor of just doing the 2010 season.

Before that they have a practice day and a qualifying day.

I practically grew up on the old Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix games. Hell, I even made a track record in a store when I was like 8 years old, which got me a new t-shirt. Bastards didn't even watch me play the game, because they were thinking I have no chance of winning a prize. My parents and sister got pissed off, so they told them I made a record. And they gave me that shirt. I still have it. Anyway... I'm looking forward to kicking some Vettel ass.
