What also excites me is the drivers have different personalities, Trulli is hard to overtake, Button is easier on his tyres, Schumacher is aggressive, etc.
Can you find them, maybe they can be added into the OP as "Features"
yeah sure I'll go look.
Wasn't there supposed to be a game like this, however doing the 2009 season instead, set for release on Wii, PS3, 360 and PC? I thought there was, while the Wii got it, and every other versions fizzled out in favor of just doing the 2010 season.
I think so yes but it was only released on the Wii and PSP in the end. It wasn't developed by Codemasters, only published by them.
Is this in multiplayer also?
Now this I'm not sure about. I think it would be pretty cool with your own driver to actually have a mock race weekend online.
Found the video, you can see a 10 second penalty at 55 seconds (I'm suprised it wasnt a disqualification) and a Warning right after for a lighter incident
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cJduejg_Us&feature=related
Oh man Monaco first corner is going to be scary.
Sweet, penalties.
But that video has only brought up another question, does damage actually effect the handling? In that video he loses his front wing and drives perfectly afterwards. I'm hoping that's just because the player was demonstrating the game and didn't want to have a hard time playing.
Seriously, what's the point of damage if the car is going to handle just like an undamaged counterpart.

Added to OP!
Anyone else feel this game delivers that "rush" driving in Monaco than previous games?

Looks like it, if you look at the end of the lap, he spun out, I don't know if that is related though. Maybe there's different settings for it though.

The damage was set to cosmetic there, that video was taken at GamesCom so that's not someone who worked on the game, he has a load of assists on too.
I am determined to do Friday practice and learn all the tracks on this game.
Fuck playing with a stupid green and red racing line thing.

I used the green tracks when I first played Forza 2, ruined it for me.

Yeah that's what I imagined. I just was unsure since I can't recall the devs specifically saying handling would be effected by damage.

It's pretty indepth actually, even your tyres get damaged, if you lock them up they get flat spots and you'll find the car vibrates and effects stability. Fucking aaaaawesome.

Flat spots too? Sweet.
I'm turning off all assists... Cannot fucking wait.

Awesome.
Damn, this game looks pretty cool. Why haven't I heard about it until now?
I'm not sure if this looks awesome or not. I've never been a big fan of simulation racing games, but I might give this a try.

You do realise it's not strictly realistic to turn off all the assists because F1 cars, and most racing cars in general, have a number of real-life assists?
I hope it has a realistic damage model. In most other F1 games you could ram others of the track and cut corners like mario kart.

at least there's no traction control, right?
as much as I want this game, I think I'm going to wait for F1 2011 seeing as how I'm already getting GT5 soon
Oh actually I'm quite behind on the technology.
This year there is no traction control, no abs, no stability control and semi-automatic sequential transmission (they change up and down the sequence as per usual, but there is no clutch in use, except for starts).
[editline]10:00AM[/editline]
Yeah so we may as well play this game with no assists.
I hope you can tweak the aerodynamics of the cars...
Can't wait. I'm still not sure in the quality of this game but I've watched billions of videos and previews and got more convinced than I was in the beginning.

There's damage but it's far from realistic. I think it's one of the worst aspects of the game so far.
[editline]03:23PM[/editline]
I haven't played many other F1 games, but do they have a lap before the race to warm tyres ect? Then say the CPU takes over in positioning your car, as most people will fuck up.
There will be no setup laps in F1 2010, as well as the Safety car, but they promised both of those to be in 2011.
9.2 Clutch control:
9.2.2 Designs which allow specific points along the travel range of the clutch operating device to be identified by the driver or assist him to hold a position are not permitted.
9.2.4 Designs or systems which in addition to typical inherent hydraulic and mechanical properties are designed to, or have the effect of, adjusting or otherwise influencing the amount, or rate, of engagement being demanded by the FIA ECU, are not permitted.
9.3 Traction control
No car may be equipped with a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power or of compensating for excessive throttle demand by the driver.
Any device or system which notifies the driver of the onset of wheel spin is not permitted.
11.1 Brake circuits and pressure distribution:
11.1.4 Any change to, or modulation of, the brake system whilst the car is moving must be made by the driver's direct physical input, may not be pre-set and must be under his complete control at all times.
11.5 Brake pressure modulation:
11.5.1 No braking system may be designed to prevent wheels from locking when the driver applies pressure to the brake pedal.
11.5.2 No braking system may be designed to increase the pressure in the brake calipers above that achievable by the driver applying pressure to the pedal under static conditions.
Well that rules out traction control, anti-lock brakes, launch control, automatic clutch operation during shift and any stability management which relies on the brakes.
Similar rules usually mean traction control, ABS, launch control and stability control (DSC, ESC, ASC, etc.) are absent from other forms of motorsport too.
Hopefully preordering this tonight, along with my wheel
