There is one still in need of fixing. Numpad + needs to be fixed. Then it should be good to go.
done, download again. should be the last time haha
A question about conversion:
Why do sounds have to be converted in the first place? Why can only .wav files be played through these programs/source? Wouldn't the sound quality be much better if we were able to use much higher quality file types?
The reason that the sounds need to be converted in such a way is because thats the quality that Source games transmit the players voice data.

As far as I can tell it fixed it suirad. Thanks man Now I don't have to remake my list. Now to test this ingame.
Sorry for the delay, everyone. Life got a little crazy the last few days and I've been unable to track down the errors some are getting.
I took a quick look and I've found numerous errors, most involving the switch from full file paths to just the file name. Expect a release later today or tomorrow.
Source Sound Player version 0.0.5 Beta has been released. See the first post for a link to the download and the changelog.
high quality sounds
HLSS
oh man this guy is so funny, five him a medal already.

*Ahem* HLSS and HLDJ files are exactly the same. There is little to no difference, and the quality loss from converting them to 16 bit is noticeable enough anyway.
am I missing something when did anybody bring up HLSS

-snip-
The thing doesn't work for me, when I try to use it in the Gmod and hit "del" button. All it does is open the voice chat and keep it so, hearing all the tapping as I tap dat keyboard.
I did everything correct and the bar appears when I select a sound as it should. I got the right lines put on the autoexec.cfg in my cfg folder. Just what the hell is wrong with this? same case with HLSS

Then apparently you didn't do everything right. :v:
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=971354&highlight=Half-Life+Sound+Selector
so it gives the same sound quality as HLSS?
Thanks, I'll try it later.
I'll try to conver the sound files with the thing on the OP
Gonna test this out. I like hldj but the console can be a bother sometimes.
To make this clear, for this to work in Resistance & Liberation Half Life 2 mod, the game folder in the source sound player must be steamapps/sourcemods/RnLBeta/ ?
so it gives the same sound quality as HLSS?
Once again, it does not matter what program you use: HLDJ, HLSS, or SSP - they all use the same WAV format. The sound quality is the same.
Oh God damnit I give up, can't get this to work with anything.
Anything expect Hidden:source, apparently.
Good luck on the project I had an idea I would have loved implemented but forgot it completely. I'll post it if it comes to mind. I like how it looks so far. Also do you have a buglist as of now?
[editline]10:11PM[/editline]
Oh yeah It would be amazing if you had the ability to add songs without closing all of your game and your program. That was the only thing (along with the console problem) that I hated about HLDJ.

If the problem you're having is setting the game directory, remember you can manually select it.
Also do you have a buglist as of now?
I have not received any bug reports regarding version 0.0.5 Beta, which fixed all previously known bugs. If you do find a bug, please post it in the Bug Reports & Feature Requests forum on http://www.ssp.phreakyourgeek.com/
I plan on adding a few more features before I release an official public version. Stay tuned.
I found this option on preferences:
"Enable sound scrolling with pgup and pgdown"
So, can we add 100 songs without keybinds and scroll through them now?

No. Sounds must still have a shortcut associated with them. I'm currently testing out a version that does not have this limit in place.
I'm pretty sure that if you add the "bindless scrolling" option a LOT of people will start using SSP.

Success! Will be included in next version.

I'm working on it. ;)

Scratch that. I just came across a small bug - when using Sound Scrolling and you're on the second sound and you scroll up (Page Up) it skips sound one and goes to the last sound. I forgot arrays are 0-based. Silly me. Will be fixed in next version.
Will the converter just convert the files? I'm guessing adjusting the bass will still have to be done in Audacity?
Will the converter just convert the files? I'm guessing adjusting the bass will still have to be done in Audacity?
That's part of the problem of implementing this. It's easier on both me and the user if the user converts with Audacity or something else because of the options and customization aspect. Right now I'm getting basic MP3 to WAV conversion working.
Damn, this looks really good. Are you doing all this by yourself?
Yeah. I couldn't find any .NET wrappers for LAME so I had to write an updated one. It basically just runs lame.exe hidden and monitors the output. It's working well but sometimes the conversion fails and I can't figure out why.
If you implement a converter that regulates the volume and bass you will be the god of voicechat-based sound players forever.
Only one request: Is it possible to make it so the binded playing key is pressed when the song is over? I have to double-tap it to begin a second song (stopping then starting voicechat again i guess) It's not something horribly bad, but it's always better to press less buttons.

I've been trying to think of ways to implement this and the only way I can think of is to constantly monitor key presses and try to guess correctly if the sound is playing or not. It could probably be implemented fairly easily but there are too many pitfalls associated with guessing and correctly timing the key press. Once I get conversion nailed I may start looking into it.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I was on vacation this past weekend. Expect a release soon with more bug fixes and new features.
