Yeah can someone give me the link for the config for SSP to work? The site isn't working.
http://www.ssp.phreakyourgeek.com/gettingstarted.php Just replace the ending forward slash with ".php" - the subdomain redirection and my .htaccess isn't playing nice. /community/ is also down until I can get this resolved.
Wow.. You actually did it, and you actually did it fairly well! I'm going to use this for sure.
Wow.. You actually did it, and you actually did it fairly well! I'm going to use this for sure.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment. My server has been reconfigured and the website should be back in working order. I'm currently uploading the community forums and getting it configured as well. EDIT: The community forums are back up. [editline]05:06PM[/editline]
Very nice work, can you make the program so it automatically updates when you release a new version or dos it already do that?
A built-in downloader has been completed for the next version.
wooo, new version looks great
As mentioned above, version 0.0.6 Beta of Source Sound Player has been released. The first post has been updated with a link to the download.
No MP3-to-wav converter yet? :sigh:
No MP3-to-wav converter yet? :sigh:
This update fixes numerous bugs, enhances functionality, and adds new features. This release is the "midpoint" release for the converter.
Hey, i have another problem. I set everything up correctly (Sound shortcut is insert key and to toggle it on is the delete key.) but when the mic toggles on all i hear is a very quiet high pitches screetching. I tried multiple sound files (all converted properly) and it's the exact same noise. Like the sound isn't being picked up. Any ideas? [editline]02:25AM[/editline] Ok even with SSP not running i get the same thing, so is the game not picking up the program or vice versa?

If you have it set wrong the game won't have anything to play. In other news, the Source Sound Player website has been completely updated following the release of MyBB 1.6. Download link is broken, download is corrupt. The config for the autoexec doesnt work.
I don't understand why these programs can't use MP3 instead of WAV, can someone inform me as I'm a bit short of knowledge here?
I don't understand why these programs can't use MP3 instead of WAV, can someone inform me as I'm a bit short of knowledge here?
Source doesn't support MP3.
I don't understand why these programs can't use MP3 instead of WAV, can someone inform me as I'm a bit short of knowledge here?
The way Source Sound Player (and other programs like HLSS and HLDJ) work is by utilizing a built-in function of the Source game engine. When you press the shortcut for a sound (or select it via Sound Scrolling or Selector Screen) SSP copies the sound file into the game's directory. When you press the start/stop key in-game the game reads the sound file and plays it over the microphone. For this reason the sound file has to be a compatible format so Source can play it. Currently Source does not support anything but WAV audio.
Download link is broken, download is corrupt.
Could you explain in more detail what's wrong with the autoexec script?
When i used v05 it would say ssp-toggle unknown command. But im guessing the script was made for v06.
New stuff looks good. Still not enough to make me switch from HLDJ, here's why; * The console interface is more easily accessible and I can pick songs by their associated numbers instead of having to find it on a list and click on Select. * It doesn't require me to create the autoexec.cfg file yourself. * It has a random file command. * I don't need to import files into my playlist all the time since it just loads them from another folder. * It has folder support, so I don't mix my voice clips with my music. What I think this does better than HLDJ, possibly with a little work; * It shows the file's name in Source games. * The interface in the overlay browser could potentially be better than the console, but not yet. * The prospect of an integrated converter, if it works well enough to make GoldWave obsolete. * Key binds with modifiers.

I have a few questions, however.
The console interface is more easily accessible and I can pick songs by their associated numbers instead of having to find it on a list and click on Select.
Would having a search for the sound list help to or fully eliminate this inadequacy?
It doesn't require me to create the autoexec.cfg file yourself.
This has been a popular request. I'll be adding this in the next release.
It has a random file command.
Another popular request. I'll experiment with this and it may pop up in the next version.
I don't need to import files into my playlist all the time since it just loads them from another folder.
Is the "Add Multiple Sounds" feature not adequate enough to cover this? You can hit Ctrl + A and have an entire folder added.
It's looking nice, I'm about to try it but I still don't think anything is gonna beat hldj. What the perfect sound player would be for me is hldj with sound binding, not like binding the numbers to the keys because I frequently add new sounds and so the numbers change frequently, but the sounds themselves bound to a key. [editline]03:21PM[/editline] I just fiddled around with it and it's nothing special. It seems like a polished version of HLSS, it's a pain to set up a large amount of sounds compared to HLDJ where I can just put them in a folder and be able to easily access all of them without having to flip through them all or bind them.
God I hope this becomes the new medium, I hate using HLSS.
I can get everything but garrysmod to work, when I press they key my voice just comes up.
Garry's Mod disables voice input from file by default because Garry is a killjoy. [editline]07:56PM[/editline]
Would having a search for the sound list help to or fully eliminate this inadequacy?
It would eliminate one of HLDJ's weaknesses but pressing END and typing a number is still easier than using the browser.
Is the "Add Multiple Sounds" feature not adequate enough to cover this? You can hit Ctrl + A and have an entire folder added.
I still find that inconvenient, especially considering I keep identical playlists for GoldSrc and Source and would have to import songs with both (and find them among the 200+ ones I have). But it's not that big of an issue.

I can also add a text box so you can type a name into the browser and select sounds that way.

That's a .NET error and nothing to do with me. Make sure you're running Windows Update on a fairly regular basis.
Where can I find autoexec.cfg? Is it hidden? [editline]07:29PM[/editline] Scratch that, is there any better way to play a large playlist other than binding a specific song to a specific key?
You should add the console sound selector that HLDJ uses.
I just wanted to give everyone a quick update. No, this project is not dead. I've been hard at work on the next version, Source Sound Player v1 RC 1. Stay tuned for an update.
I haven't been able to get this to work, I put the code in my autoexec but still when i press delete nothing happens, no console errors or anything
I didn't realise this was necro bumped, I had high hopes for this :| OP if you're still developing, will you add HLDJ-style folder access and non-bind reliant songs?
Once you add that audio converter, this program will be perfect. Do not let this die.
