sneak peek
So having a diffculty setting that just turns off the hurting and death effect on hunger when "easy" is hard to do.
I have done way harder things in programming, just by modding games around.
Notch already has the running stamina use, why not have stamina boost other things too?
The run button could be thought of as a "hurry the fuck up" button.
Your ability in programming doesn't make you any less of a terrible player. Much the same when people asked for toggles when spiders became able to climb walls, it's not the perogative of the developer to make toggles for people too unskilled to adapt and play the game as intended.

Speaking of spiders climbing walls, was I the only one who was hugely dissapointed back when that first got added? I remember looking from the top of my house to see how a spider would look like while climbing because I thought they were gonna have a special animation at first, then when I saw them just casually slide up my wall I was like "oh."
It would be cool, since if Notch is adding attack animations to mobs, if spiders actually had an animation for climbing, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

Or if they at least turned vertical while they climbed.

Deep Oceans eh?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
Rapture!
A city where the artist would not fear the censors.
Where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality.
Where the great would not be constrained by the small.
With the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city, as well."

I never played Bioshock, so at first I thought you posted this in the wrong thread.
If the oceans aren't as deep as you're expecting, it's apparently easy to mod the world height. 1024 height, 512 water level should be more than enough for a 1:1 rapture.
The swamp biome doesn't even look like a swamp, why couldn't they add mud, different grass/vegetation murkier waters, or even some kind of haze in the air?
Cause right now it's just a basic forest biome with vines.

Adventure Update Part 1
he might fix it in part 2.
id love to see mud act like soul sand in the nether, and a murkier look in the biome.
He should have brownish water and lily pads of some sort spawn in swamps. Mabye hostile croc mobs?
Needs Willow & Mangrove trees, Alligators, Cat-tails (maybe) & Lilypads, Mud blocks to replace sand blocks, and Murky water.

I'd say give the crocs their own type of hostility system, where they only attack when they 'feel' like it. Since crocodiles only attack you if you get too close or if they're hungry. Perhaps the only NPC to have a hunger system?

I think brick steps are kind of silly.

Sandstone steps have been in the game for a while, also they are in the image posted above.
Right next to the standard stone slab.

Unless I'm stupid, isn't that a sandstone step 3 spaces to the left?

You are thinking of slabs.

For people who make brick houses?
Cobblestone and Wood steps don't work very well with brick walls imo.

Cobblestone looks fine imo. I mean, why would you want to make a completely brick house anyway.
That isn't to say brick stairs shouldn't be added, but I think sandstone stairs should have been added before brick, smoothstone stairs too.

Steps, not slabs.

Slabs are steps.
The ones you're thinking of are stairs.

A water gradient for biomes was in 1.7 IIRC. Here's the image for it.

Leech like creatures sound cool.
They drain you of health, but if you set your self on fire they pop off.
Sucks if you don't have fire, but they drain really really really slowly.
So really the only way your going to die is being careless in a swamp kinda like real life.
Notch needs truly more mythical creatures like the original "creeper".
Perhaps something like Blastfungis where such looks a bit plumper then normal mushrooms and explodes if approached upon too fast. Which releases a new feature "poisin".
Speaking of "already new features" poison spiders should be common in swamps.
There could even be a block responsible for producing poisin clouds. This would be useful in many ways, but hard to get for obvious reasons. Such could be thought of as swamp gas.
As a part of the effects this Biom could have, cobble stone becomes mossy cobble stone over time.
Fog that comes and goes. Though the problem Notch may have with this is very simple.
A swamp that has been built over completely demolished can not be "turned off" as a result of having no features a swamp contains. Which can be weird when fog is appearing inside a place it shouldn't.
I believe a biom that is designated as a neutral biom should exist, "temporal biom".
However the checking for a place to become no longer it's original biom would have to involve the blocks naturally put their by terrain generation, which Idk if you can even designate that without having problems. However, if notch could somehow have a check ask if there are a significant amount of natural "not player placed" blocks in the area, then he can have bioms essentially be demolished.
on the note of the croc
Putting a hunger system in a npc would be an unneeded Counter. Just have it become hostile occasionally, like the spider as a result of a trigger.
Perhaps, having food in your inventory wasn't so smart when you came to the most poisonous place on minecraft.
On the note of gas producing blocks.
Notch has been wanting to mess with gas like blocks ever since he made fire he had been looking into "smoke blocks".
Well now is his chance perhaps in a later edition of minecraft adventure update.
3 particular blocks come to my head demonstrating three aspects.
1, a poisin producing block, what could be called the miasma block. Produces gas that drifts slowly, but randomly. This gas poisons you of course. The gas however eventually dissapates, it is a block entity.
2, Methane liquid, unique water from swamp. Rare, but semi explosive liquid block. The gas it produces cannot be easily seen using similar transparency that slimes use. The liquid it's self branches out like water does, and has a odd yellow tint, it is to note the branches catch fire quickly but once the fire hits the source block it explodes with a very minor detonation "probably just 1 block all around very precisely". The gas will react to Torches, Flint and steel, or any other "fire" effects when in contact will cause this to catch fire burning rapidly in mid air. This could potentially set off more methane blocks and cause a swamp to do a flashout by blowing up the methane liquid in the area as well.
This liquid can also be found in caves deep underground, and should be considered a great hazard like it is in real life. However the only above surface area would be swamps.
Fogstone, This very odd block cannot be directly touched by water source. It will delete "water source" that directly touches it, but that is not all. Whenever water sprig touches it it also will delete the water sprig, which then makes it release a fog block. As you may well know water sprigs keep coming back as long as there is a source block, and this is part of the "effect". For it will "hiss" and give off fog, much like a heated stone. The Fog block lasts for quite a long time, and will push other fog blocks out of the way when one is produced up to a maximum distance "almost like there is a piston in the middle that randomly chooses a direction and pushes the other fog blocks". You can move right through it, but visibility becomes dulled, and it is a hard to see through fog block.
The source block would be useful in smoke machines for dramatic effects, and traps, and other things. Fog block can be thought of as "lateral sand' in the way that it tends to stick together, yet move outwards as more is produced. The fog block can be instantly poofed out by the slightest explosion however, and perhaps a radius around torches cancels fog?
The fog block producer which I imagine could be given a clever name, but I am too stupid to come up with anything better than "fogstone" would be slightly valuable and be completely unique to the swamp/graveyard like bioms.
