I honestly don't see why critical strikes should be added to Minecraft, but I welcome most of the other changes.
because fighting is bland. hit, move back, rinse and repeat
You're missing creative mode. That actually isn't 100% confirmed. I haven't heard a single thing about it for several months. Even then it was "iffy" I am not sure if the floating islands (dimension?) is being added this update. It might not even happen at all. Need sources and oceans. Just updated my thread with the OP. Thanks, Raptor.
because fighting is bland. hit, move back, rinse and repeat
To be honest, critical strikes don't add much either, it just ends the battles faster. Although the addition of attack animations for mobs and the ability to block attacks does immerse the player better than it does now.

They are different attacks that you can do whenever you want. You know, like in Dark messiah, where you can change the direction from which you attack.

Notch never clarified what he meant by "Critical strikes" so it could be anything as far as we know.
He did clarify it.
Could you direct me to that clarification? I'd like to read it :v:
Colored lighting eh? It would be neat if the colors are going to be mixable.
Could you direct me to that clarification? I'd like to read it :v:
Can't find it. His twitter is a mess. So many messages.
Notch said that critical hits are if you attack while in the air.
Notch said that critical hits are if you attack while in the air.
"You get a guaranteed crit while in the air" - not "you only get crits while in the air"
"You get a guaranteed crit while in the air" - not "you only get crits while in the air"
Headshots with arrows? :v: Would be piss-easy to do for slimes
But Slimes don't have heads.
I am so excited for this update!

Look how close that mountain is to the sun ! It must be like a million degrees up there!
I hope the bow works similar tot he TF2 huntsman - hold down M1 to make the shot go further. I also hope for different ranged weapons (eg - slingshot, crossbow)

It would be cool if all the animals were wild by default and you had to tame them somehow and make a farm to get food.
I want the transfer from dirt to stone to not be so sharp. Basically white is dirt and black is stone: [pure dirt]░▒▓█ [editline]23rd August 2011[/editline] Wow "pure dirt" is an oxymoron
New lighting will be awesome.
I hope Enderman can't move steel/diamond/obsidian blocks, because then I'll never think of changing difficulty to Easy ever again. Best part of the update is NPC towns, raid the town then burn it to the ground. :v: Better yet, install zeppelin mod, make a airship with redstone cannons, and bombard the towns from above! :v:
Am I the only one hoping for upgradeable items? Like in pretty much every RPG/MMO known to man, weapons/armour have slots for gems or whatever. It would be freaking awesome if dungeons rewarded slotted armour/upgrade things for said slots. Would SURELY make the whole more rewarding exploration/combat Notch has talked about.
That would certainly help with variety, but more items (unique weapons or something) would do basically the same thing in a less complicated way.
As in weapons/pickaxes/whatever only findable dungeons? Sounds good.
As in weapons/pickaxes/whatever only findable dungeons? Sounds good.
It doesn't necessarily have limited to dungeons. For example you could get a unique armor from a miniboss or a unique food item in a chest in a village.
Awesome update features.
I want raptor to get on so he can add my list. I worked hard getting all those sources, you know! :v: I'm bored so I am going to work on merging the lists.
