Do we honestly need more promos, its bad enough Valve keeps a list of them up with times to put them to work. I want to know the total amount of money all of the games on the list together would cost, because it would be how much people spent on hats and weapons.

as long as Valve adds promos into the game as normal items later (like the Quakecon stuff) I have no problem with them. It makes Team Fortress 2 the closest thing we will ever get to a "PC Gaming Smash Bros"

This made me laugh a bit.
•Yes, I saw the future of TF2. No, I can't tell you, except that there's a Deus Ex promo today or tomorrow.
Awww, that's simultaneously awesome and kinda lame (for me, anyway). I'm really looking forward to Deus Ex: HR, but I pre-ordered a retail copy for the lower price and physical bonuses, so I wouldn't be able to get any promo items that might pop up (until they became craftable, and then I'd have to get lucky or play the trading game). Ah well. It's a shame promo items aren't available to all owners of these games regardless of where they bought them (not counting crafting etc.), but that would sort of (entirely) defeat the purpose, since they're meant to be an incentive to buy through Steam.

That Genuine tag on them is mostly a lie when barely any of the TF2 players probably support the actual game. New content and promos are two different things. B00bies from Kritzkast said it best, its all Fluff.
What'd I miss? Meet the Pyro artwork? Does that mean we won't see it anytime soon? Dang.
So, where's the update?
New content and promos are two different things. B00bies from Kritzkast said it best, its all Fluff.
But it's entirely harmless... What's the difference between 300 hats and 600 hats? At this point adding more hats to the game (even promo hats) doesn't really mean anything, other than to people who enjoy them
;31814858']>Telling friend about this thread. >Typing some of the revealed content from here. >Halfway through typing, Internet disconnects. :v:
The Valve agents are watching you.

Select people, not new players for damn sure.
it's a good thing you mentioned kritzkast at the end of your post and not the start. As much as i hate Rift, at least that update added something that isnt hat or reskin related.
That Genuine tag on them is mostly a lie when barely any of the TF2 players probably support the actual game.
I kind of agree there, it's a bit frustrating when you do get those people who hoard promo items just because they're 'rare and valuable' and never actually touch the game. But for a lot of people, promo items are a really cool extra for those who are excited about an upcoming game, or have already bought it and play it frequently. It doesn't really hurt anyone at the end of the day - they're just virtual items without tangible value.

No value? But if its a nice cheap promo like MNC, to help out developers, i have no problem with it.
You should have said hi to me. I mean, after all, we were only playing TF2. Also, Robin is not in Germany unless he is a wizard. I just had coffee with him a few hours ago.
Jump to 5:30:
hahaha, that girl awkwardly not wanting to be on camera and trying to look like she's kinda doing something by turning around
I'm pretty sure Robin's a wizard.
a hat wizard. wait if robin's in the offices. does that mean update tonight?

People pay other people money for cosmetic items, either with games from Steam, or the old fashioned way of hoping the guy wont run off with your money/item. People buy these items, and adding more doesn't help. I remember seeing the $150 something dollars for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Collectors Edition coming with a little code that gives your avatar a suit that you can only get from that edition, and people actually bought it more than the collectors edition itself. tl;dr genuine promos don't help tf2
(probably late) Can you tell more about "Meet The Pyro" concept? I'm very curious.
Promos will rain apon us

It's given me some neat little items for some of the few games I do have, which I think is cool. If other people want to be retarded with their money, it's their choice and it doesn't affect me or you in anyway.
a hat wizard. wait if robin's in the offices. does that mean update tonight?

Well there she is, INCOMING http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2065757 No details, which is mysterious
Yes.
oh so that's why Gabe hasn't returned my emails, he's in Germany, and here I almost thought for a second that he didn't know or care about me, haha how silly
And that why people pay real money for games to trade with for things like Earbuds right? No value? But if its a nice cheap promo like MNC, to help out developers, i have no problem with it.
That's a sad side effect of trading, but it happens in any other game with virtual items and trading. They still aren't tangible; you can't physically do anything with them. If they want to spend their money on pointless decorative pixels, let them. I do wonder about big companies getting promos, though... But, at the same time, it was the promos that brought my attention to The Witcher 2. I ended up watching some trailers, and eventually I was convinced to buy it; I bought a retail copy, so I never got the promos, and it turned out to be one of my favourite games this year. Promos, to me, are a good thing. Okay, so there's a lot of them - but until they stop developing actual updates to focus only on promotional hats, I'm not going to let them bother me.
http://www.teamfortress.com/deus-ex/ Holy shit yes
It is a nice future, there is more promos, couldn't read all if them, but they ain't that bad. Everything besides promos is also awesome.
If theres one thing we all knew about the future of TF2 it is that there will definetly be more promos
