Alien Swarm: Source Megathread v2 - what's in these eggs OH GOD - Games

Anybody know why whenever I hit F7 to compile a single change I made, it tries to compile EVERY file, as if I were rebuilding? (Using Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition)

Seriously this game is a blast. One of the best free games ever. CooP doubles the fun. Great game.

I have found a great love for the Vindicator with Jaeger, never realized how good the damage was.

Stupid lights, how do they work?! For some reason the lights I put in my test map are really really REALLY bright. Even the flares and healing bubbles are bright. Anybody know how to fix it?

Flamethrower is OP is debatable, but oh man are bots awesome with them.

I just recently got a problem with Alien Swarm that I really hate. I click play and the dialogue box shows up saying Alien Swarm is launching, then the box disappears and nothing happens. It says I'm In-Game and when I try clicking play it tells me only one instance of this game is running. I open up task manager and see swarm.exe, I right click and try to end process but nothing happens, same for end process tree. The only way to get it to end is to restart my computer. I've tried deleting clientregistry.blob, verifying game cache, updating my drivers, and re-installing the game but nothing works. It's getting annoying cause I want to play Alien Swarm with my friends. I also run on Windows 7 if that helps.

Sometimes when you exit out of the game (even by crashing), the program stays for some reason and blocks you from playing any Source game while it's up. Deleting the remaining exe sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Only surefire solution I know is rebooting the computer, but i'd like to know an alternative method myself.

Did you try ending steam.exe's tree? If not, it's worth a shot since steam is needed to run swarm.exe

You're way better at mapping than me. It also seems that you are plagued by the super bright lights problem like me. I spent most of the time mapping today just trying to fix the lights.

All my friends say the game is additively fun. So much truth in that.

anyone know how to make drone (basic alien) jump or climb down a wall automatically as in no sequences or scripts?

Ctrl + Alt + Delete 2. Task Manager 3. Precesses Tab 4. Click once on steam.exe 5. End process 6. No dumb meme

I've tried ending steam.exe but swarm.exe still stays, I start up steam again and then I try starting up Alien Swarm but I get the "Only one instance of this game can be running." error.

Yesterday I tried the chainsaw. Pretty cool thing if your team is otherwise well equipped and you know what your doing. Unlimited ammo and pretty decent damage, too.
