He helped me get some player models working. Basically You just have to remove all the $animation and $sequence lines from the .QC and add in $includemodel "swarm\marine\marine.mdl" (Or what ever you are compiling for.)
The model's don't work in the viewer yet for some reason though. And you decompile the models like you do for L4D2

Yep, I think that's the base for creating custom ASW player models..
But sometimes you'll have to modify the bone structure of your model to make it look similar to ASW structure (ASW structure is a bit different from HL2 default).
Hmm there is one Marine.mdl and one femalemarine.mdl, yet there a different models ingame. Does this mean that the model is multiple parts or what am I missing?
Did the WH40K mod ever get finished/released?

Just modify each character with a different model file inside your pak01_dir.vpk with some text editor (search for marine.mdl and change it to some 6 character name)...
Alright thanks for the info, gonna try and get some models working if I can do this properly.
Been working on this for awhile, thanks to ferdam for the help and necrobard for the models.

The officer's Terminator armor likes to act funny because it's a wide model on a thin skeleton so there's not much I can do with it. I might have a option to use the normal space marine armor for them.
And then there's some other issues (Wildcat's leg for example) but just about every other way of "fixing" them just looked about as bad. But you don't really see them in third person so It's not much of a bother.
I might release soon.

Also, got Custom Player models to work as an Addon without editing pak01_dir.vpk...
Haha funny, I started wondering when I was writing my installation instructions for the models and how when the readme was wrote I didn't know any way to install models without editing the pak01_dir if someone would devise a way :v:

Just extract profiles.res inside your pak01_dir.vpk ( "..\resource\" folder), modify it like always, using some text editor (I think that this time you'll be able to use any name with any number of characters for model names), then include it in your Addon and your Models and Materials.. Make it a VPK.
Worked for me, I'll release some example if people need it..

That's pretty sick. Are you gonna make tyranids for the aliens too?

I don't really think so. The AS alien's skeletons wouldn't really transfer over to the tyranid's models too well, Although I might be able to hack something together.

Why, there have been since release!
It's a really simple trick, but you just join any random server.
After doing so, play the game like you normally would; thrashing through Swarms, killing them all, shooting your teammates then lie, saying it was an accident... At the end, you should get your experience! Just the way the game was intended to be played!

As a result, some of the main guys who play with me don't play anymore.

Can't imagine why you'd need it, just try speed running with a group you know, it'll get you to 3rd promotion in no time, I never even managed to get the proper time on timor station.
This game is awesome. I was thinking that they could have easily made lots of money selling this game, even if only for 10 bucks
