Finished Doom 3, really enjoyed it, even if the final boss battle was utter shite. Moving onto RoE, got the Gravity gun.
I only played Doom 1 and 2 (and Skulltag) and I don't regret one bit. Except some levels in the main campaigns can be complete labyrinths. D:
Except some levels in the main campaigns can be complete labyrinths. D:
Try playing the randomly generated levels from Oblige. Those levels not only are terrible labyrinths when you get to the larger sizes, they're also ridiculously difficult. I've only a single time beaten a level on ultraviolence without cheating. It's not easy.
That's what makes Doom so awesome.
It definitly is more interesting than a corridor-on-disguise (see: CoD), but sometimes it gets really frustrating when I have no idea where to go, with no enemies to kill. It sure gives you an atmosphere of "you're on your own", though.
Try playing the randomly generated levels from Oblige. You can get Oblige from here. It tends to generate rather difficult levels but you can customize what you want it to do to a point.

Not sure if I'm late or not, but this mod is the best thing since sliced bread, and got me playing Doom again: http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=26904

I think that mod has been mentioned before but never linked here. Pretty neat one in my opinion.
