Doom Series Discussion V1: Knee Deep in the Thread

This might of been answered before because it's a common bug, but how the fuck do I get my resolution higher than the lowest setting without resetting everytime I boot the game up again?
Oh and it does it with the AA aswell.

Change the resolution to match yours, put it in the appropriate folder.
Didn't you already post that, or was it a different thread?

I still can't find any linux server files :smith:
EDIT: just found them, FP Skulltag servers anyone?

I posted it in the GIGM thread.

Join Facepunch Doom on steam, we can discuss it there
If someone sets up a server, I'm in.
There's already a French facepunch server up, but if you're not in Europe your ping will obviously be terrible.
Hell Revealed II + Hard Doom on Nightmare = FUCK
seriously it's so damn frustrating but i will not be satisfied with my doom career UNTIL I FUCKING BEAT IT
At least it's not Sunder.
I'm content with Brutal Doom and Ultra-Violence on the normal maps. I'm not an utter sadist. :v:
Pfft.
Oh god, i followed the instructions to install Wulfen texture pack and it doesn't even acknowledge it's existence. So both Wulfen texture pack and Sikkmod don't work.
Sikkmod you just drop in the Doom 3 directory. If texture packs aren't working, do this.
1) Change your ingame settings to "ultra"
2) Use this as an autoexec.
seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "0"
seta image_useNormalCompression "0"
seta image_useAllFormats "1"
seta image_useCompression "0"
seta image_preload "1"
seta image_roundDown "0"
seta image_forceDownSize "0"
seta image_downSize "0"
The problem I had, was that the game was using the standard textures because of the doom3.cfg
Also, if you get Sikkmod working, and you want to run textures in sikkmod, the only way to get stuff working is by turning on HDR. Otherwise you revert to default textures.
The Doom series always had a good soundtrack.
The original is still my favourite

I just looked at the related videos and I think I'm going to kill myself now.
sikkmod is awesome, but I hate how it makes it to where it takes all of my smg ammo to bring down a single zombie.

I understand how to do this, but are there any videos that demonstrate how to install either? I find things easier with visual cues.

In Sikkmod you gotta aim for their head.

I'll make a small tutorial. Maybe it can be added to the op, we'll see.
I'll add it as long as it doesn't take up half the page.

I figured that out, but I'm missing most of the time. :v:

I found that when I enabled the alternative crosshair mode I seemed to be more accurate, But there might of been other factors contributing to that.
Ahh, that's why playing with Sikkmod is so fucking weird.
Anyone know what settings they used to get the mod the way it was in the screenshots?

That's not the issue between the two. Wulfen has its own glprogs. The vfps have to be merged manually or one of them needs to be deleted to work.
In Sikkmod you gotta aim for their head.
You have to aim for the head, but it's still bugged, as the zombies have literally random health, including the ability to have more than bosses.
You can disable random health under game options. It should be disabled by default actually.
Except it doesn't actually disable, and neither does random respawn.
Check the DW thread, the monster defs and scripting still need to be fixed.
So Sikkmod isn't just graphics, it's also a balance rework - that's kind of badly broken right now?
Damn, was considering downloading it.

This worked PERFECT for me:

Yeah that stopped the stretching problem for me but half the options in the mod still don't work right. Soft Shadows on black lines appear everywhere (and shadows are gone completely), motion blur causes graphical artifacts.

Look like that at some angles with soft shadows on.
