bollocks I didn't back up my folder
why would you say dsl only when you're on 1.3
Im running DSL 2, but the 1.3 update for the game itself
Im running DSL 2, but the 1.3 update for the game itself
I'm running DSL 2.1, with the 1.3 update and can't join it's probably a fault on your end
The mods wouldn't make a difference, You try to host.
The mods wouldn't make a difference, You try to host.
Before I do anything, did you download and patch 2.1? If not, do so now.
Whatever, i updated.
Any of all yoalls got video of the server yet?
someone join the fucking server goddamn
[editline]03:43AM[/editline]
join dammit theres only so many times I can fight emergency before I go insane
[editline]03:48AM[/editline]
fucking hell, someone else host the server
I can't figure out how to build stuff in this game for the life of me
How is it that hard?
I can't figure out how to build stuff in this game for the life of me
Just keep experimenting, and also when you're wiring, use your brain. A motor on the right side of your robot will have Clockwise for forward and counterclockwise for backwards, and a motor on the left side of your robot will have Counterclockwise for forward and clockwise for backwards.
I managed to get a robot that could spin around, and a robot that can go forward and backwards, but I haven't managed to do both in one robot
[editline]03:28AM[/editline]
I don't get how you can have a weapon that sticks out of the robot when you can't build anything on the outside of the chassis

Experiment, use parts you haven't used before, connect things together. Once you get the hang of it it's not that hard.
It's overly complicated, to be honest
It's overly complicated, to be honest
Yeah, it was made that way. But it's nothing compared to the real thing.
If I drew you up a diagram, would that help?
Uh...maybe?
Uh...maybe?
Alright, I just made a robot and took some pictures with fraps showing the process. Give me a few minutes to post them and give explanations on what I'm doing.
Thanks man, but I don't think it'll help
I might as well just use default bots
Just use a drive chassis.

Here we have a simple rectangular chassis. I like to use more complex but don't rule out the simple ones. I've gotten my ass kicked by a square bot before.

For this tutorial I am going to make this bot kind of small, I like smaller bots better.

First up on the list, motors! These motors are all around great for everything. Weapons, general drive motors, etc.

So that this bot doesn't end up to be a brick on wheels I'm adding these two weapon motors on the side. What will I use them for? You'll find out.

The best batteries, and we need 2 because those motors take a lot of power.

Control board, I usually like to place mine on top of my batteries but this bot is too short.

Wheels! Tazbot is kickass and it would be an honor to use it's wheels.

EXTENDERS. Learn to love these.

This is looking rather dangerous

Now for the hard part! I'm using WASD for controls, so my first analog control will be W and S, forward and back.

This is for the motors on the right side.

This is for the motors on the left side. Think about the orientation. If they're spun around and turned the other way, making them turn clockwise will make them go backwards.

This is after I made the analog control for A and D. D will turn it right and A will turn it left.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "What the fuck, you did the same thing for the left motors as you did the right". ORIENTATION, GODDAMMIT! THINK!

Holding down a button to spin our maces would be rather annoying, a switch works better.

With these weapons, whether it's clockwise or counter clockwise, it doesn't really matter.

Time for a test drive.
Now, go and make the best robot possible.
Oh god this game looks lan worthy.
My tutorial was really basic, there's much more you can make in this game. Making full body spinners and flippers is a completely different build process than my tutorial bot.
Oh I remember this game. Making a spinning blade of spinning blades, good times...
Like, half of the stuff you used, I don't have :/
Like, half of the stuff you used, I don't have :/
Step 1. Download the Robot Arena 1.3 Patch
Step 2. Patch Robot Arena 2
Step 3. Backup your Robot Arena 2 folder.
Step 4. Download DSL TC 2.0 and patch 2.1
Step 5. Install DSL TC 2.0
Step 6. Patch DSL TC 2.1
http://gametechmods.com/?do=Patches For step 1
http://gametechmods.com/?do=RA2_AIpacks The first 2 if you have the CD version, the 2 after if you have the downloaded version. For step 4.
Thanks for the help
