Hey look it's someone who's never used torrents before.
And I thought this thread was truly dead... After seeing replies from just a few weeks ago, I decided to register here just for this thread.
Anyway, I've managed to download and get the game working (at least it wasn't as hard as some other things I've had to do) and it runs pretty well - though I've not even let the starting area. It's 1am here just now and I don't want to scare myself shitless just before going to sleep!
Being fascinated by dreams and surreal shit in general, as well as liking video games, I knew this opportunity was too good to pass up. After seeing a thread about it on 4chan for the second time, I thought I'd look into it. I have no regrets...
So I thank you all for your helpful posts, links and screens. I look forward to many fucked up hours of LSD.

This game is the shit, me and a friend played it for around 8 hours straight all night about 4 months ago and it was just so confusing but absolutely awesome at the same time.

I finally got round to playing it today after getting the tedious emu to work. I've only played for about an hour, I think I'm on day 6 now... but it became quite repetitive for me. I'd been to the some places two or three times. I love its surreal touch... It's truly unique.
I've not had anything truly disturbing yet, though... But I am quite hard to frighten. I've not met many characters yet, either - my first was a very tall statue-like figure walking down a street in the village; I've also had the floating elephant from the pit, the teddy, the cloaked man and the disappearing sailor in the dark city, and those evil lions.
I'm hoping to "progress" further; apparently the game only gets more fucked up as the days advance. Does anyone know if the places you link to get more varied over time? I think I've only been to six or so unique places.
If you like this, you should also try the game "Yume Nikki" which is about some girl exploring really freakish dreamworlds. It's freeware so there's plenty of download links around the web.
