I could do some more research at the moment but I broke my source and I am pulling down another copy
Would anyone think that a GitHub repository for our own Receiver would be good? I dunno how Wolfire would react but we aren't really distributing it or making money off it :v:
afaik, cold 1911 is pretty hardcoded into the game, so I guess it will take some time to get something new into the game.
What about the warm 1911?
Right now I'd be more interested in a mod that doubles the magazine size and makes the gun automatic.

I think we need to work on optimizing the performance first tbh, it runs pretty shitty.
If only Unity were threaded

I believe many of the performance issues some people are having are due to Unity's deferred rendering path combined with the large number of dynamic lights.
I added some new rooms - there aren't any existing object spawns however.
These were the test rooms Tobba talked about. Pretty undetailed, but it's a change of scenery.

Aieee. Now I know why they're called test rooms. They're really really fucking useless and incomplete.
At least I know adding rooms is easy!
Progress!
Behold, tiny shotgun shells with borked collisions!

Next step is to, well, fix the size and collisions. Then make it so you can pick them up! :D
How does a flashlight sound?

How does a flashlight sound?
Is it inherited from the guns position and rotation? Because that would be pretty awesome.
Easy to do as well, if you haven't. :v:
How does a flashlight sound?
that's actually pretty wicked

tied to the camera for easiness
I want to ultimately make it a toggle and have the flashlight model come up when you press F, but that might be asking a lot

Really, really not.
Seriously, that's a 30 min job in unity at best.

based on how this game instantiates objects, yeah, it's a little difficult
Will there be dual-mouse support?
I want to control the gun with one mouse and the second with the other :v:
hooray, accidentally overrode my colt with my flashlight
so now you have 2 flashlights
works great
protocol, ill put the source on a flash drive and bring it on tuesday to the unity masters
see what they can make of the object thingys
i understand it well enough now but I just fucked up so much shiz by deleting the original colt.
[editline]23rd June 2012[/editline]
I got the flashlight working ish. Turns out you can just attach a light to the gun. Even toggles too. Just gotta play with its position

[del]shouldnt u be playing pocket planes or something[/del]
awesome, now all we need is a gun with a flashlight
pocket planes is uber boring
see I don't know if anyone else agrees but this is my vision of the flashlights
I think that the game should be a lot darker overall. aside from ambient lighting from the city, there should be like very few lights in the rooms. so you need to be smart about using your flashlight, because, yes, this one will end up using batteries. (that will be lovely to code)
anyone else agree with this? i feel like that that would solve a few core problems. 1), the game having generally shitty lighting overall (my not having Unity Pro doesn't help aka no dynamic shadows) and 2) overall better tension of having to manage yet another system.
It's already extremely scary to enter a room and hear that tiny little "beep" without clearly knowing where it's from and backing off hoping it's just a turret and not a tazbot.
This is the fastest I've ever seen a game get mods.
Ever.

because the source is on github :O
now all we need is darkness monsters and we made first person alan wake
now all we need is darkness monsters and we made first person alan wake
Would pretty much just be penumbra, but with guns.
Which on its own would be pretty damn amazing, having a gun with very few bullets and having to take care of all the mechanics before actually shooting it. Would put the player under big pressure.
because the source is on github :O
That would explain it.
This is a perfect example of why open source = good.
Edit: Wrong thread. sorry
I made a really, really fun change to gameplay.
I'll make it bold so you piss yourself from excitement:
Taser drones are no longer lethal
That's right, they just slow you down until you kill it or run away. I'll probably make them lethal if you get tased enough times in a small timespan but for now they slow you down almost halfway for 1.5 seconds.
Still, really goddamn annoying especially since I made the flinch much more severe (read: good luck actually shooting one)
finaaaally
ty pro7
making this game better
I've also nerfed the fall damage a bit. Right now I'm doing the same logic where you're slowed for a bit, but you don't die unless you jump off the third floor onto the first
[editline]23rd June 2012[/editline]
because IDK about you but I fucking hate walking off a ledge and getting killed
8 tapes, 3 full magazines and 5 extra bullets. I thought I would be able to finish the game but I tried shooting down at a turret and I died, like I shot myself or the bullet ricocheted into me.
Otherwise this game is tits, I spent like 20 minutes getting a quick reload down so I don't start jumping and screaming when I miss a drone.
