I'm too terrible of a coder to make it all work seamlessly.
Do the models for that wheeled turret exist in the game's files?
I should download Unity.
god what a bunch of idiots.

Dare I ask who that's aimed at in particular?
I want to implement in my old Beretta 92FS model. Shame I haven't touched unity in a good year or so.
touch it up to fit the game's art direction (if you haven't) and it would be straight up ballin'
no, you just don't like me. you're the one deflecting. if you dislike someone, or their ideas then why even talk to them in the first place.
i think you need to step down from your high horse.
if every reply that quotes this isn't a troll then they're simply idiots... dumb. not smart. stupid.

haha you would try to defend yourself by making it sound like you had a trap card (you didn't)
you're not fooling anybody little kid
i mean really, could you at least try to be subtle?

I have a metric ton of models I made over the years that would work well with Receiver. It's just getting them into a workable state within the game is the hard part for me. All my modding has been with Stalker and the start of my own Zombie game in the Unity Engine that never really got far, cause my brother bailed after the first 2 months.

i'm sure if people from the sheep community and other modeling sites were even aware of receiver's existence, they would be all over making fully functional firearms for it. the problem is that it's too obscure.
In a way that's kind of good. Somewhat keeps it fresh. I'd prefer it like this, rather than have a million mods doing the same thing. Unless that's just me.

They do.
Take up your argument in a PM and stop shitting up the thread.
Talk about Receiver. Is there any videos of it? I haven't had the chance to try it out yet.
i mean really, could you at least try to be subtle?
I mean, really, how old are you?
Infact the last few things I put into Unity were these weapons, vehicles and buildings.
There's plenty of things I can think of, but my lack of Unity experience is the biggest setback.
NinjaWilko helped me learn a whole bunch of stuff (i.e. how to use the automagic occlusion culling) but there are plenty of other things I've learned that drags performance (and dynamic lights aren't really one of them)
The problem with the occlusion culling though is while it reduces stress on the GPU there's still additional overhead on the CPU while it tries to figure out realtime what should and should not be drawn
[editline]4th September 2012[/editline]
Someone's insecure :)
Don't do a 100% check on occlusion culling, removing every non seen surface... that's slow. Just cull anything more than 2 or 3 rooms away, it should be a lot faster.
Also, guys, jeeze... This isn't an instant messenger. Stop spamming up the thread with immature comments, it's not even about what is a good or bad idea anymore. It's just turned into pointless ranting.
That saiga.
Is it textured? Maybe I'll add... two shotguns.

That's for Unity to decide, really. That's the problem with the dynamic culling, is it alleviates strain on the GPU but it has a buttload of overhead on the CPU.
Wait that's totally in what you quoted
I forgot what I even said, GG self
It isn't textured. Infact, it was just a plain model with a standard material put on all the tri's. I should have the Max file somewhere....keyword...somewhere.

Hmmmmmmmm
Well I need to start pulling down the newest source and converting my shit.
First I played this I did it until I got bored, then messed with my g13 to try and master auto-reloading a mag :U shit was so cash, going to wait for a better mouse before getting back into it though.
did he had a shotgun or AK47 or bolt action sniper yet?
I am a dumb fuck
Yes.
If I can find it. And if you wish to use it I can send it to you.

only guns ingame atm are obv colt 45 akimbo seal sniper rifle, glock automatic assualt shotgun and some shitty revolver m1 garand
[editline]6th September 2012[/editline]
but the m1 garand revolver has a boss shooting sound. it's so satisfying, even if pulling back on the hammer has literally no purpose.
if it was a single-action it'd be nifty as hell. that should be a toggle

I wonder how fast on could get a glock to reload and fire, and reload and fire.

There was the Saiga just after modelling was done before I had to build the high poly. I believe the model is still on my work rig. So I shall check that soon for the file.

Nice! Are all the parts separate? I mean like, can I pull the charging handle back, move the fire mode selector, take out the mag? That's all I really need :v:
All parts are separate. The person that had requested it, asked for all parts to be seperate cause it was planned to have interchangeable parts. IE new barrels, handle, stock, guard, rail, etc. However after I finished the main low poly, which you see there, and I finished the high poly. (The render of which I no longer have the original of.) They disappeared and never paid me for the model. So I just kept hold of it and never touched it since.
This was back in March last year. So I'd say the model as it is in low poly state and in tri's is perfect for the right person to use in something, and I have no desire to charge anyone for the model if they want to use it. It's been sat doing nothing for over a year and a half.
Well I'm sure you've gone through the thread and seen the shotgun model I have.
You call yours low poly, and I call it high poly. :v:
I would like to use it, if you don't mind! Assuming it's UV mapped, I think I could texture it well enough to fit the Receiver theme.
In comparison to other things I've made, this is very low poly by my own standards.
As an example.
[img_thumb]http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1364/911front.png[/img_thumb]
Now that is high poly. A old 911 I modelled. A good year ago.
ANYWAY yes. It was not UV'd, it was never requested. I'm guessing they had their own texture specialist and they just needed the model. Once I find the file. I'll try and clean it up for you, clear up some of the poly pinching and such to give a cleaner base to work with. As for UV'ing If I find time I'll also do that.
I'm guessing you do not know how to UV yourself?
[editline]7th September 2012[/editline]
I forgot to mention. You are very much free to use it. I'm never going to have a use for it. :)

I don't know how to UV, no. Photoshop is my specialty, with coding second. I never had a knack for modeling.
It doesn't need to be great though, since I'm just gonna fill in solid colors :v:
If it's just solid colours, you can avoid UV all together.
A simple multi sub object material can achieve what you need. Simply colour the faces a specific part of that material. Hard to explain but from what I recall.
I always exported to FBX for Unity, if that is what you are going to use format wise, then you can retain the material settings within the FBX, which is what I used to do when I played with Unity, unless I'm overlooking something.
Is it easy enough to code in a new weapon?
[editline]7th September 2012[/editline]
Did you release a build of that mod that adds the shotgun and such?
[editline]7th September 2012[/editline]
Wow, I just bought this. My GPU gets to 75 degrees in a few spots. It doesn't even get that hot when I'm playing GTA IV. :v:
