It's Unity. Unoptimised, which is why it lags like anything. Unity is capable of some amazing graphics, when optimized. It should be able to handle this easily.

I think they sort of half forfeit the challenge. On their 7DFPS page they say they took a few extra days to make it so I guess that kind of means they would've cheated.

7dayFPS isn't a contest, it's just a gathering of devs for fun.
I took part as well, and this overshadowed everyone's entry bar a few fun things. :)
Judging by such creative ideas, Overgrowth devs should make a 2nd studio to generate awesome ideas/game concepts and either opensource them or sell them to other devs. It's like kickstarter on its own.

Brilliant, brilliant little game.
The control's do take some getting used to, but after like 5 playtroughs (with probably 3 of less than a minute anyway) you'll have it in your head.
Frustratingly addictive, and really makes you smack yourself on the head sometimes because of your own stupidity.
Example:
*Hear's a beep from a turret*
OH SHIT OH SHIT
*Starts running away from the sound*
*Flies too far and falls to his death*

I like how the turrets seem to be able to run out of ammo. It's annoying the tasers don't run out of charge. I shot one in the camera once just as it was tasing me and it ended up trying to tase the spot where I was for a few minutes before I shot it because I didn't want to get killed by a blind robot.

I ran up and stood inside a turret at some point (You have no collision detection with them, so you can stand in em and they can't shoot you.) and his pal across the room opened fire on me, missed every shot, but stopped shooting after a couple seconds. He may have been hit by ricochet in the gun...

I really hope they expand upon this or even use the gun mechanics in another game. There's just something so satisfying about having to reload your gun manually and pull the slide back!

I played this, and some bullets were on a balcony. I jumped onto it to grab em, and I was falling because I overshot it. As I fell, I took out 3 taser bots flying at me. It felt so awesome.
But then I died from the impact.

According to the controls there is a slowmo toggle but I have yet to find out how to activate it (probably cheat engine would be the best way)
Best decision I made with this game: I changed 'holster gun' from tilde to the back button on my mouse. Now adding ammo takes about 2 seconds.

I don't mean the lag. I mean it literally looks like fps creator. Okay yea it took them seven days but why should I waste 5 bucks on it? Just offering my opinion because that guy a few posts up is being a huge douche like it's the holy Grail of indie games. Sorry it's a fun concept but if they forfeited they should just improve upon it then sell it for 5 dollars.

You have to tap R, holding R will still pull the slide all the way back.
The slide lock only prevents it from sliding all the way forward, not back. Misconception.
yeah it's hold T and tap R. if you tap R it will slide back past the locking point but not far enough to eject the cartridge
