• Why don't modern games have cheats?

I never cared about invincibility or unlimited ammo or other godlike abilities. What I care about is the fun stuff like spawning npcs, flying around with noclip, changing my playermodel or faction, finding places that were never meant to be found, and so on. This is probably half of the reason I enjoyed the Jedi knight games so much. That, and modding. Then there's also the easter egg cheats like the hidden ATST level or flying car skin in star wars rogue squadron. More games need these!
And guys, just try to remember the difference between cheats and easter eggs. Remember, cheats make the game easier.
I miss them for some games. But really, I don't mind good achievements. You know, like killing the final boss with a squirt gun, or doing all of the obscure/hidden sidequests to fight a megaboss. Those are fun. However, most achievements these days are 'Beat the game on medium', or if you are super edgy 'Beat the game on hard'. It's disappointing because it shouldn't be about the achievements, it should be about the deed. Gamerscore is a terrible thing because it promotes these terrible achievements.
there isn't a game on earth that doesn't have a trainer available for it

Modern games don't have cheats because most modern games are following call of duty's lead, where you are near invincible and you just need to run straight forward through linear maps and cross an invisible line, then enemies quit infinitely spawning.
Oh wow thats a dick move. It's like kicking down a lemonade stand.
Those cops were completely justified, I was a greedy little 9-year-old. I once tried to charge guests for using an elevator in a hotel. Made $2.50.
I like to cheat because there's always one part in the game that is always hard and just frustrates you to no end.
Because with all the piss easy games now a days you don't need cheats.
Because I want to break my balls trying to engage in a thoughtful story, or awesome action experience.
In modern times? Because developers don't care about the gamer, they care about their wallet.
Cheats were the only way I could beat later levels in rouge squadron... :smith:
Cheats on PC would pretty much be using the console. The consoles themselves can't have a usable command console, because it takes to long to type anything, and achievements ruin the real fun. If I wanted to show off an achievement, I would tell a friend myself instead of flaunting a stupid badge like a freak.
i used to use cheats with every game that had them. back in the day i don't think i ever completed one game straight up. (never completed far cry or half life 2 without using shitloads of cheats) now when i use cheats they ruin the game for me
On Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4, I cheated so much that the disc doesnt work right anymore. Curse you Slow-ma, Jango Jet Jump, and unlimited special meter!
Because nowadays games are so easy you don't have to cheat anymore, the game just does it for you and calls it a feature.
Anyone remember the codes you had to input to get certain cheats in Goldeneye? Fuck that made my hands tired after the 100th time trying them. I could understand the ones for like invisibility in multiplayer, but to unlock toggleable cheats? Damn that was rough.

power overwhelming
I remember playing gta vice city ,pausing the game and typing a cheat for a car hundreds of times , unpausing the game and seeing a huge tower of cars infront of me.
there isn't a game on earth that doesn't have a trainer available for it
Just Cause 2 ... the updated version
i enjoyed turning god mode on in goldeneye, planting a shitzillion and one plastiques on the silo level, and just running through the level while it was enveloped by framerate-lowering explosions
Just Cause 2 ... the updated version
JC2 has trainers for all versions. Plus there hasn't been a JC2 update in more than 6 months.
A very long time ago I once entered a random 15 character cheat code I made on the password screen. It actually worked and led me to the final area/boss of the game.
Up down up down left right left right square Unlocks the Spyro The Dragon demo in Crash Bandicoot Warped for the PSX Still remember that after 11 years
I can provide a site that's legit, they disapprove of fake trainers and such.

I felt the cheats in AC Brotherhood were kind of silly. You got them for 100% a memory (which fair enough, felt like a bit of an achievement) but then I find out that you can only use cheats when replaying individual memories, which just sucks.
all cheats after san andreas suck i wanted super punch and kangaroo with euphoria but nope
You can still do it manually by modifying the files because rockstar is using the same engine which is good they care about modders.
