Indigo Prophecy.
"The dog ate the last 2/3 of the script, I swear." Edit: I honestly can't think of anymore aside from those in this thread. Maybe Morrowind?
Indigo Prophecy.
Oh I forgot to put that in the OP! I love that game, was really involved in it, even when it got really fucking weird. And I have Eternal Darkness, planning to start it when I beat Battalion Wars 2. Also thank you for all the replies guys, I really feel like story driven games should be more recognized

Oh, more games, if you're into old-school ones: [thumb]http://cdn1.gamepro.com/box/box_103695-hd.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/17/Baldur%27s_Gate_II_-_Shadows_of_Amn_Coverart.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/712GJSKE5JL._SL500_AA300_.gif[/thumb] I've never actually played Planescape Torment but I've heard nothing but good things about it (aside from the terrible DnD combat of course, but you get used to it, and some people like it for its difficulty). And for a newer game: [thumb]http://images.wikia.com/assassinscreed/images/6/6a/Accover.jpg[/thumb] The story of Assassin's Creed and its sequels, especially the conspiracy that is entirely optional to uncover, is ridiculous well-researched.
it sells for like $15 at gamestop lol. that's where i got it, they have a copy at the one by my house right now. http://www.gamestop.com/gc/games/eternal-darkness-sanitys-requiem-used/19863 but yeah it's not super rare, but one of the more expensive gamecube games. it's still no tales of symphonia or skies of arcadia (which they have at my gamestop as well)
Alan Wake was pretty story-driven. So much so it will fuck with your mind, especially when you find out there's a book about it. But I'll let you figure out why.
i wanted to play alan wake but it never came out for PC. was so bummed at that. i'd like to play that still provided the opportunity

sorry dude, you're probably thinking of la noire rockstar recently said they're never porting RDR to pc
As said earlier, AC. Even for a series that has games with literally less development time than any COD game has ever had, the studio (Forgot the name) that has made it has managed to somehow make an extremely immersive experience with solid gameplay on par with Hitman 4 with such a tight schedule.
sorry dude, you're probably thinking of la noire rockstar recently said they're never porting RDR to pc
Oh yeah. My mind's full of holes this morning, everything's tumbling out.
Bioshock 2- Minervas Den was pretty kick ass, in fact i liked it more than the actual game
As said before, the Bioshock and System shock series. Also the Penumbra series.
DOW- Soulstorm.
Diablo 2. Horadric Cube.
Final Fantasy VII
-Metro 2033: (Really get it) its dark, very story driven and thought out.(Needs a beefy pc) -Vampire: the masquerade, bloodlines. Old style game which still focusses on being fun to play. The story is nice and has a few unexpected twists and you get a shitload of choices. It also has a really well thought out world.(It could exist paralel to ours) I just played this for the first time this week and loved it. -Mass effect 1&2:. 2 Is better but I would start with 1 since everything you do there carry's over to 2 and its still really good. -The witcher 1&2 Really well thought out world but in both games the story takes a while to gain up speed. -Bioshock:Very deep story and nice gameplay.
As much as you guys hate the game, the first Halo has a really good Sci-fi story that is easy to emerge with and love.
As said before, the Bioshock and System shock series. Also the Penumbra series.
Fuck yeah, Penumbra. There's enough atmosphere in those games to replace every inch of skin on your body, though if you're a cold-blooded combatant (like me, in games at least) you'll probably just end up bludgeoning all the dogs and spiders to death with your pickaxe. Still fun and pretty scary. I know a few people here are PC elitists, but I don't think anyone here actually hates Halo. I've actually heard quite a few compliments on the Halo universe, for the books at least.

A subsidiary of Namco-Bandai. On Topic, the Deus Ex series is good for story.
