so basically we are now stuck with under 20 potions and with no chance of the old systemd getting implemented in brewing stands?
fuck.
Oh well, I still hope we get a good system because it's WAY too basic right now.
I want the 2300+ potions they talked about.
Just like how in CoD there are "hundreds" of possible combinations for guns, when it's all just the same combinations used over. Just like in Magicka when there are "thousands" of combinations of spells when only the top tier ones are ever used. Just like how the Rubik's cube has "Billions" of possible combinations when one state isn't terribly different from another.
I'd rather Mojang keep the simplicity of the current station where every potion is comprehensive and makes sense than make a needlessly complicated system where people are only going to make two or three out of the supposed thousands.
Minecraft for me has always been about elegance in simplicity. We don't really need a needlessly complicated system to accomplish things we'll probably be able to do in a much more intuitive fashion.
It's really strange coming into places like here and seeing people bitch and moan about everything. Why hasn't Notch earned our trust by now?
I'm okay with that, I just hope we get all the stuff like night vision, invisibility and digging boost potions.

I want Terraria style gravity potions.

I would build an upside down house.

I want a way for the bad potions to be used against people rather than yourself. Who is going to drink a potion labeled "Poison"? They should be apply able to things such as foods and arrows/blades. Otherwise everyones just going to throw their poison potions into lava pits knowing that no one is dumb enough to drink it.

Since potions aren't stackable, maybe we could name them after brewing them? That way, you could make a poison potion and name it "healing potion". Also, i agree with the poisoned weapons idea.
The colour of the poison still spoils it.

Fill a chest with healing potions called "Poison Potion" v:v:v
[editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
Or "Potion Poison", to confuse people

I suggested that only you can see the name of your own potions, so other people would only see "Potion" and a default blue colour.
I wish jeb would go back to the cauldron-style brewing, but with a tooltip telling you what the effect is when you look at it, so you don't have to re-bottle it to check.

On the subject of potions-
Make it so you can name them using a piece of paper, so you can give them alternate names, such as poiosns name "Healing Potion" and vice versa, or just giving them names. To rename a potion, craft it with another piece of paper.
I think they should make cauldrons require a liquid from the "Ender", you know, the hardcore end game shit, that you fill it with.
Once filled, you can drop thing in their to make, lets say, a health potion, but once you use the health potion, you can scoop up some of it from the cauldron, and have like ~100 uses from the cauldron, just from one set of items.
100 is waaaay to mutch, I'd say a maximum of 10.
100 is waaaay to mutch, I'd say a maximum of 10.
Lol well obviously notch would make the number, but you get what I'm saying. There would be more bang for your buck
Would Alchemy need to be that horrifically end game?
That would make sense if it produced 'Tier III' potions, and something from the Nether would produce Tier II. It would allow budding alchemists to still make shit without getting to end game areas, but would give them room for improvement.
[editline]12th October 2011[/editline]
Aaand i've realised you need a Blaze Rod from the nether to make a brewing stand. That's dumb.
I think that the different types of stands should be for different tiers of brewing. Like the cauldron could be used to brew tier 1 potions, one at a time, the brewing stand could brew three tier 2 potions at a time, and another brewing stand from the End could brew tier 3 or 4 at 3 potions at a time.
If there's an invisibility potion eventually added, I'm going to go fucking nuts in servers.
There is an invisibility potion.... OH GOD I CAN HEAR THE GREIFERS ALREADY
Jsut discovered you can take water out from a cauldron in 1/3's. So you get 3 potions per cauldron.
Jsut discovered you can take water out from a cauldron in 1/3's. So you get 3 potions per cauldron.
You can also take water out of a pool in ∞'s, though, meaning you can get ∞ potions per water block.

Yup, they left that in from when Cauldrons were still being used for brewing. You should just get your water bottles from a infinite source though, so you don't waste your time and iron.

If you can get your waterbottles from any old water source then...then what's the actual point of the cauldron?

It actually mixed potions.
I wish it still did, if only as a matter of preference. I thought it would be more interesting that way.
The brewing stand should be for converting items into potion form, the Cauldron should be for combining more than one kind of potion.
Cauldrons should be used for mixing together different potions, so it's like a tier 2 brewing stand.
If a currency is added I'm going to become a drug dealer!

Brewing stands are harder to get though.
