And a two-sided flag
Massive closed down? :smith:
I wish I had a chance to play Multiplayer, but I don't want to pay for it.
Hnnng now I want to play this. . . . If only I could. . . .
MY two favorite RTS's are this and the Red Alert Series which is funny because World in Conflict is like what could actually happen. Where as Red Alert makes fun of that scenario.
I have the soundtrack for both games and interchange them constantly.

No no, World in Conflict in MAG form.
That would be fucking sick!

Modern Warfare mod: www.wicmwmod.com
Turning your favorite RTS into a military command simulation!
It's a nice mod that adds a bunch of new features, but TBH, it breaks WiC's unique 1980s Cold War setting and turns it into another modern-day military themed US vs. Russian Federation game with a bunch of technical complexities.
Can't wait for Massive to do World in Conflict 2. Hopefully it'll take place in 1990 focusing on US RDF soldiers in Iran, some Central Front stuff and campaigns on Indian and Burmese forces against the PRC. The story of Col. Sawyer and his battalion has already been told.
Is this anything like Men of War? I'm trying to decide if I should get this on Xmas, but Men of War is the only RTS I like.
Nope. WiC has a larger set scale and you'll won't get Men of War's complex armor penetration model or the micro control elements. The only similarities would be the lack of "dirt farming" and how reinforcements are brought in directly on the map.

Best pen and paper RPG I've played.
Lately the Massgate forums have been plagued by this "Kruelgor" guy. If you read his posts he's like World in Conflict's very own Mike Sparks.
I remember playing the demo mission over and over while saving up money for the game and i have to say this is the best rts i ever played. My favorite part of the game is the new york cutscene, shits awesome.
Three years have passed and it still looks amazing, brilliant game too.
I have to say, they make some of the most amazing game trailers.

Who are Kruelgor and Mike Sparks?
Some infamous character around the Massgate forums posting his weird views on clan wars and game balance. The extent and duration of which I think makes him resemble the M113 "Gavin" freak Mike Sparks.
This game is amazing, I played through the whole thing with the expansion in one sitting and I have to say it was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. The story is fantastic, the game play is fantastic and the online was so much fun. With the online I'm pretty bad at everything but I can sometimes last 10 minutes as Support without getting kicked for team kills (damn team members unpredictable)
God fucking snowflakes everywhere
Great game.
Terrible, awful, cancer-inducing online community.

Why? No teamwork?
Unrelenting elitism. If you don't play the game the way they like it, you are vote-kicked out by the people who have been playing for far too long. It sure feels nice not being able to play the game like the devs intended because the community feels like using heavy artillery is "unfair".
Well then the ideal way of getting rid of artillery is to use choppers and destroy it. Not very hard tbh.
Absolutely amazing singleplayer campaign, the multiplayer isn't all too fun for new people though. Most of the time high ranking players are stacked on one team against the lower ranking ones, what follows is well coordinated destruction of the new guys. I've never played a game against the AI though with friends, that might be fun. For $20 this game is definitely worth it.

Sorry, I dropped a Gas bomb in it, I had some left over TA and no body wanted it.

Best cutscene in any game. Ever.
I miss that classic type of camoflauge. Damn you digital!

The only time I ever found myself feeling patriotic...its sad really.
9/11 didn't even phase me(too young to understand) but this hits me harder than anything else.
I always found the cutscene placement weird. One at the start, one in the middle...then that's it. All the others are done with the game's engine. Not complaining though. They're goddamn epic. Hell, even the opening one, with cops and national guard assisting the army, had me in shivers.

Actually the one in the middle is ingame and important because you rescued those civilians inside the sports dome before it got leveled.

I like how the song was playing throughout the entire game.
