Just use [noparse][img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/emoot/whatever emote you want to use, without the colons.gif[/img]. For example, type in [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/emoot/science.gif[/img] to get[/noparse] [IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/emoot/science.gif[/IMG]. It should work with all old emotes, as Garry hasn't removed any, but I haven't actually tested them all, so there might be some he took out. I'm fairly sure everything works though.
