If anything, it needs upgrades to make it smaller and easier to operate. Things like the gates that redpower includes would be a good start.

Minecraft doesn't have to be in medieval times [i]every fucking second[/i]. That's what [u]MODS[/u] are for. If I'm bored of what the game has to offer at the moment, I can turn to mods. This isn't a bad idea in the OP.
