[QUOTE=Canary;33021299]Borrow some and use advertising or something.[/QUOTE]
Did you even think how that would work
where would you even display the advertising, and do you really think an orbiter mp mod would generate enough impressions?

The same way other games do you retard, think!
brilliant dumb rating

also thanks for telling me the hotkey list
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
I want to print out the manual, but I don't think my dad would be very happy with 135 pages :v:
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
shouldn't matter that much if I print in black and white though
I'll see what I'll do.
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
Nah, it'll be way too much to print, while I can just use it on my PC too.
Yeah, when I was learning I just paused and task switched a lot.
(I'm done with Canary, he's clearly suffering from brain damage)

If you was done you wouldn't have made a weak insult at me.
Managed to do the quickstart mission quite well, orbit was a bit... ackward, but it did it and managed to land.
I also noticed something funny with landing gear, when landed, double press g, it'll make the vessel jump (atleast it does for the delta glider)
Stable orbits will come later, that you managed to achieve orbit, re-enter without burning up and successfully land is quite an achievement!

The fuck are you on about.
It's buttfucking easy.
So, this looks great and realistic and all, but here's a little tip. When you're making a thread about something like this, try not using the title to incite competition with the most universally loved and undeniably fun game in the genre. I will once again emphasize that there's nothing wrong with Orbiter, but saying that its been around longer really just highlights how much more efficiently KSP has been developed.

Good to see you encouraging more people into sticking with this. :downs:

Orbiter was developed by a Mathematician as a fun pet project, not by an Indie games team hoping to make a profit at the end.

Still managed to loose flaps
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
probably should've turned them off during re-entry

Which is another reason we shouldn't be comparing the two.
it'd be so awesome if I can get a teacher atleast mentioning this in class :v:
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
or atleast show him this, I don't bother what he'll do with it.

Is it essential to have a joystick and a billion additional switches and buttons to play Orbiter?
No.
[QUOTE=Winstonn;33034160]Is it essential to have a joystick and a billion additional switches and buttons to play Orbiter?[/QUOTE]
I've got a 4-button joystick so no.
Also using the numpad is the only thing you need for "Flying", for more advanced shit you need your keyboard.
is there a way I can rebind stuff? I'd like to have my rudder on some buttons on my joystick (Logitech attack3, cheap but neat and has a wheel so you can change throttle)
[editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
also how can I perform re-entry without loosing my flaps all the time on the Delta glider. Just turn off flaps and point the nose upwards?
anyone has a tut on how to get to the moon ?
This NEEDS some sort of co-op functionality. I can imagine this being fun travelling to places, any light on the situation?

I think the only binds orbiter uses by default are the axes, the pov hat and "button 2". (Orbiter manual, p36) You can probably use joytokey or similar for rebinding other keys.

It all really depends on your re-entry path, but there are some ways to adjust:
Turning off the flaps is a good first step, and of course a somewhat high AoA - but you can adjust as needed. A bit of a cheat if you're not in the DGIV (which has re-entry hull temp readouts on the centre-left MFD you can refer to instead) but an external view can show just how hot your re-entry is. If you're starting to glow white it's too hot - reduce your AoA. Let the ship cool a little then increase again. If you found you rebounded towards orbit your re-entry angle was too shallow, and fire retrograde some more before the next attempt.
Once you're coming out of re-entry activate your flaps, it won't be long before they become responsive.
(I'm sure someone here will have objections to something I've said, go ahead :v:)

You guys have no idea how enjoyable this can be with TrackIR or similiar head tracking system.

I see why

[editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
I'm so good.
I just did a run myself too, make sure I was recalling correctly. You want your re-entry angle to be very shallow, your PeA close to 0 either side. I was incorrect about a longer de-orbit burn if you bounce - recorrect your re-entry and use a higher AoA the next time. 40deg is a good starting point, but again, readjust as necessary.
is that 40 pointing up or down? I guess up since the spaceshuttle does it like so :v:
I tried to do so in that picture but lost controll and ended up as that.
I imagined your re-entry angle was too high in that attempt, as I was mistaken on that before.
If your re-entry angle is too fast, accelerate to slow down.
:v:
How do physics work? :v:
[editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
I really don't know how to do re-entry, I always burn up at any angle.
Do you get in orbit with the ~230km autopilot ?
if so do a retrograde burn while looking at the orbit MDF
when the green like is stationed with the gray line run the rentry autopilot.
works for me most of the time.
