That is breaking gameplay on purpose, which is not what i am talking about.
What are you actually talking about?
The part that made me laugh the most is the point he made about Mojang swearing at Minecon. I didn't know that happened.

Fucking gold, and the best thing about it is that it's absolutely true.
The reason why they done an actual review of this game is because they know they'll piss off the fanboys so much more then creating a satirical view of it.

Relevant.
And this is why I stopped playing Minecraft, it's just so repetitive and the new features are shit.
once again, this is a fully finished game
once again, this is a fully finished game
Am I the only one who doesn't mind all the stuff this guy criticized?
Well not as overly harsh as before, still satirical though.

One of millions.

I agree about the mods.
I think Notch should have worked instead of being on vacation or else pushed release on until it was finished.
Loved how the guy felt bad about making an honest review
"I think i'm gonna go back to the old style for my next review... what's my next review?"
Skyrim drums start playing
"...Oooh."
I really like building huge towns and stuff, so the game is fun for me.
I play terraria for the adventure.
He really hit the nail on the head with this review.
If notch actually listened to the fans, this game could have gone in a better direction that would have made it so much better.
is rockcock64 okay in the head?
is rockcock64 okay in the head?
yes, yes he is. all of the criticisms he gave were completely legitimate.
Minecraft is just a really dumbed down version of multiple games, so it applies to a variety of audiences.
I expect a notch tweet about how these guys are assholes by the end of the week.
It's sad that the devs of a game with SO much potential act like this. All the stuff he said makes me yearn for how amazing Minecraft could, and probably never will be.
The saddest part about this is all the people who will mindlessly defend Notch and minecraft in it's current state make it less likely that Notch will ever get his shit together.
I just played Minecraft without any of my mods, and hes completely right, this is not a complete product, and it is not worth 30 dollars, and its barely worth 15, god damn this is depressing, this is a game with a lot of potential and that asshole Notch is neglecting it, before you start a new game like Scrolls finish this one.
I was pretty underwhelmed by the new update, and to be honest, it plays like shit still.
Well, honestly vanilla Minecraft just doesn't cut it for me, and the 1.0 release seems really disappointing. I liked it better when it would update and it would be a mystery what was added. There was still some cool features ahead and an awesome experience to be had. Now I have to mod it up in order to get that same experience, because very little of note has been added with each new update besides the last 2, and in the end it's still not near its full potential.
This review hit the nail on the head. I disagree that it's a terrible game that shouldn't be played by anyone even for free, but all of his points are valid.
Notch's biggest mistakes:
1) Removing his mind from the development process by making other people's mods vanilla and letting Jens do all the thinking/innovating.
2) Taking 1,000 vacations at the worst times. He could've spent all that time prowling internet forums and jotting down the countless brilliant ideas made by individuals much more creative than himself.
3) Setting an unrealistic release date when the game is FAR from finished, ultimately beheading it just when some really great additions began to appear. (Improved combat, experience, misc. longevity)
4) Apparently not making a SINGLE attempt to hide the fact that he is clearly far from satisfied with the millions upon millions of dollars he's made already, making him a very easy target for criticism.
5) Just creating a poor professional image in general by being inconsistent, irresponsible, and unreliable.
And that's how Notch let Minecraft die.
I'm still wondering why they didn't just start a gamma phase instead of calling it finished. That would allow for the price hike they obviously wanted, and give them an opportunity to raise it again at a later date. Plus, they could still use the "It's still not finished" defense.
The only thing I can come up with is that Notch really doesn't want to work on Minecraft anymore.
Wow, he made a fucking true review. I already loved them, now i love and respect TBG. Notch is now being a greedy ass and not giving a shit to the community.
Oh well played best gamers, well played.
His review was done in a serious manner with most of his shit right.
But he slightly focused on points most people ignore and put in a few "stealth inaccuracies" also containing large amounts of genuinely true information.
All this goes together so his review is correct, it's technically right and you can agree with it.
However... All these points and bits are areas of minecraft people are opinionated about. You either care about them or you don't and that's where he gets you.
All these elements come together not to provoke rage in you, but to make you get angry with the whole community.
I dare say we are dealing with a troll of great magnitude, capable of being blatant yet unobserved and still having the desired effect.
We all know, The Best Gamers is the video game equivalent of the "Landover Baptist Church" forum (WARNING if you google that, bear in mind everything on that website is satire!) and thus doing a "proper review" is just a cover for a new brand of extensive trolling.
I must say I have to commend the maker of this, not so much for pushing all the right button,s but grabbing some shmuck and saying "Gee those buttons shure do look shiny! Better not press them though!"
I don't agree that the game looks bad. If Minecraft had GOOD graphics, it wold be hideously ugly.
I don't agree that the game looks bad. If Minecraft had GOOD graphics, it wold be hideously ugly.
Yeah, if it had realistic graphics it would be awful.
If it had actual stylized graphics then it would be awesome.
Minecraft could look a lot better without having to cut resources, the downfall of Minecraft will be at the hand of Notch, he needs to get his ass in gear before he even thinks of releasing Scrolls anytime soon.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with this. I guess I got so caught up in being a fanboy that I just kinda forgot about all the stuff he promised and the unfinished crap in the release...
Although I knew that Minecraft was nowhere near ready to be released. Is it at all possible for him to put it back into a beta-like state and actually finish it? I didn't want it to be true but it really does seem like Notch just wanted to abandon this game.
