This is why I usually don't buy games based on ratings from reviews. Why does it matter if the game is unfinished or has bad AI or has loads of potentially great yet unfinished features if it's still an experience I can enjoy for a long time? Also goddamn I hate those BEST GAMERS guys, their satire videos are never funny.
It's only wrong/not funny if you're Notch Defence Force, and it looks like you are. You're blinded by pure fanboyism, which makes you hate people that bring up the obvious flaws in the game. In my opinion, Notch has wasted a crapload of potential. The game could have been awesome, if it not were for his craving for money and constant vacations. I mean, come on. "We'll release the modding api in version 1.8!" Is it released? Nope. "We'll add interaction to the NPCs in 1.8!" Was it promised for 1.8? Yes. Was it finished? No. Can you interact with them? Nope. "We'll add cocoa bean trees!" Are there any cocoa bean trees? Nope. I think I'm gonna go play some Minetest instead. You know, that game that's written in C++, is open-source, is free, supports both D3D and OpenGL, natively supports textures larger than 16x16 (brb, downloading a 1024x1024 texture pack), has an up/down limit of 30000 blocks, an unlimited horizontal scale, and is developed by a guy that actually adds good suggestions?
Ive played minecraft since alpha and I think the 10-15 dollars I paid (forget the amount) was well worth it. But I feel like the development of the game has gone downhill from there. the only thing I can think of that is worth mentioning post alpha is probably minecarts usable in multiplayer and the first set of biomes.
Wow, I can't believe how true this is.
n0 h34dsh0t5... ttly Scrub gaem.... i g2g play mw3 im pro at that game u know!! Oh wait, this is actually a serious review.
I disagree with almost all of this. I really like the graphics in minecraft and all the new things have been improvements, even if some of them are unfinished. Pistons are great, even if the original idea was from a mod. They say that pretty much all the new things are from mods, but what about endermen? Hunger? New food, melons and dragons and shit.
I haven't watched the video, but I can probably predict a lot of the complaints. Doesn't bother me though, it was apparent a long time ago that the game would end up this way but I still find it fun so who cares.
Wow, the video has sparked an argument in this forum. The vid has done it's job and very well. Now then, the reason Minecraft development is stagnating is because the revenue is drying up. Nobody is buying minecraft much any-more, the "gold rush" is over. So I have a solution that people may like. In order to fund the Further development of minecraft once a month or perhaps once every other month the Mojang team get together and do a "ludlum Dare" they have 2-3 days to design and make a small game, they then sell this small game for a small amount of money. (say 1 Euro) If just %50 of the current players of minecraft bought this game it would make at least one Million Euros. One Million Euros every two of months is a lot of money. Mojang gets cash, player get update, some people get a fun little game they can play, everyone is happy. [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] A point i might add is that If Mojang were to do this to keep the community happy they Should sue the money to fund more minecraft development and they should only do anything relating to the microgame during the 3 day period.

Basically none, they had 2 employees on it, notch and jeb and now it's just jeb working on it [editline]26th November 2011[/editline] did you copy that from the minecraft forum or something?

They literally make one million euros/dollars (if not more) every 4 days.
at time of posting a grand total of 4,171,860 have bought the game, taking into account people with two copies and assuming one half of them bought this one Euro ludlum dare One million Euros is likely. And no I did not copy this from the MC forum, they lack the mental capacity ti come up with an idea like that, even if it is a really bad idea.

Man he didn't sound high or anything wtf
Man he didn't sound high or anything wtf
The point was that he could piss off the fanboys more by doing a normal review than doing a purposely bad one.
The point was that he could piss off the fanboys more by doing a normal review than doing a purposely bad one.
The truth angers people more than anything else. Case in point. Gabe Newell is fat.
Case in point. Gabe Newell is fat.
I've never seen anyone get mad over him being called fat, though. He's an awesome guy and has had rather brilliant business plans that players are happy with, and that far outweighs any reputation gained for being on the larger side.

He used to be skinny before he founded valve, his health deteriorated for our benefit, he went the extra mile for us. It's just every time you mention Gabe is fat or make a fat joke people get ruffled feathers.
You don't even know what the Ludum Dare is, do you?
It's a contest in which patricipants have 48 hour to design and create a small game. Best game wins. I've heard the phrase "Ludlum Dare" used once or twice to denote a game produced rapidly. I also assumed people would get the reference. The idea was good on paper. Giving Mojang a new source of revenue whilst allowing for more minecraft development.

[editline]26th November 2011[/editline] No but seriously he is my favorite video game person.
what the fuck, are you drunk or something? they've sold 4,171,860 with the cost being between $15 and $25 thats $83,437,200 if you use $20 as the average price, that's 62 million euros
BRB making simple game that everyone will love and buy. i want in on this :v:
I'd like to be dead honest here, Minecraft has no replay value, you walk around, you punch wood, you build shit, you mine stuff, you build more shit, you kill mobs, continue ad infinitum and you got something that's more effective at putting you to sleep than watching that boring, late-night fireplace show!
Indeed, my good Gunther. Despite Notch's claims, the community really keeps Minecraft alive. Imagine a universe where Minecraft had no multiplayer. All that is available is singleplayer. No 2b2t. No Open Trail. No <INSERT PREFERRED PLAYER SERVER HERE>. The game would be partying it up with the addicted gamers. Two months later, Minecraft would by lying in the gutter, comatose, as all the bored players scramble off to pick up Skyrim or whatever their preferred genre of game. The only reason I play Minecraft these days is for the multiplayer. Whether on my friend's personal server, 2b2t, or the Open Trail, the community is the sole reason that Minecraft even exists. The community is what makes Notch a millionaire. The community is the soul and, yes, the very essence of Minecraft. Take away the soul, and the host becomes a husk.
Notch would make a great politician.
Funny thing is, as soon as the money rolled in big, it appeared that Notch took it as a permission to be lazy, taking vacations and announcing patches that were ultimately disappointing because half of the promised stuff wasn't even in said patches. Even now, when the game's apparently finished, there's stuff that's been announced a year ago but still not implemented. I'm sure if the entirety of the Minecraft Community would join forces and make a "clone" also using java, they could make an exact replica in under a year!
Notch would make a great politician.
He's not corrupt enough.
He's not corrupt enough.
Considering how much bad shit he has done to people's wallets, he isn't corrupt, he is pure evil.
Considering how much bad shit he has done to people's wallets, he isn't corrupt, he is pure evil.
He has too much money to be a politican, lobbyists don't have enough to buy him out.
