I'm mad they didn't put it at 1080p. Doesn't make sense really....making it 720p is fucking backwards! I still look forward to playing this one day though. Still have a broken PS3.
I want you to know that people rate and respond to you as they do because you're being a moron about the looks of this game. 1: PC will always be able to have this running in a better looking and more stable state. As a last elitist resort, we have mods. 2: we have technical benchmarks aplenty on PC. From the well optimized games, the ones that strike a fantastic balance between looks and performance, (Just Cause 2 is gorgeous and runs pretty damn swell) To the all-out computational shitfest that is Metro 2033. 3: If you really want this to be a competition, then by all means come at us bro! Now to be fair, consoles excel at optimized exclusives like GoW 3 (both of them lol), Uncharted 2, MGS4 and so on. But as far as graphical showcases that shames a PC. Sorry No. I hope people enjoy this. I found it hilarious to pull stupid shit at the Koreans. If you master the suit, you can get a small "combat high" by stringing moves together.
Just Cause 2 looked nice, but all leaves on the trees were simple sprites, which looks absolutely horrible when looking from above. Especially when you're making a flip with a plane. All the leaves suddenly turn around.
5. Doesn't count as visuals, but they cut some of the game out (i.e. ascention) and I hear some levels are shorter. I hear some levels are also split into two parts now instead of being one large map, but I've not seen any gameplay of this so I can't say for sure.
If that's the case it's just complete bullshit, seriously

[editline]5th October 2011[/editline] Oh and on the online-play only issue:
I recall Ascension was a friggin brilliant level, awesome to see tornados and jet flybys while the aliens tore shit up. I'm thinking about the right map?

But you gotta admit that their LOD settings are quite impressive. At no point to you see texture patterning or low-res textures from a distance. I'm often impressed by how good it can look. It's not the most advanced game, but it does pretty well with what it has. Also, Island jumping with speedboats never gets old. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline]
Maybe it couldn't run at 1080p.
No modern High-budget console game has ever run at 1080p. It's all upscaling.
If that's the case it's just complete bullshit, seriously
Removing an entire level is a bit of a piss-take, but breaking the levels up makes perfect sense. Consoles have severely less memory than a PC, more loading screens is nothing in return for the game not stuttering while it streams chunks of level to and from the RAM.
Hell what bothered me the most in this thread was the first sentence of the article in the OP: What the fuck kind of indie is Crytek, because I'm pretty sure they're a massive studio. Just nitpicking though, I literally give no shit about this announcement since I can run the original Crysis, and I don't own a console. Still great for people that have never been able to play it. The DRM bullshit though, seriously Crytek? You were one of the bro-er people around.
You know "indie" means independent right? If independent means "independent from a publisher" then it's true for Crytek.
I recall Ascension was a friggin brilliant level, awesome to see tornados and jet flybys while the aliens tore shit up. I'm thinking about the right map?
I never liked it personally. You flew a VTOL which was kind of clunky to control the whole time, and overall wasn't the most compelling of experiences. AFAIK ascention is the only map that I know of that has been cut.
ITT: Pc fanboyism. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline]
Actual in-game screenshot. Aliasing and abusive DoF and bloom everywhere up in this bitch. I mean I don't really care about graphics as long as they don't hurt my fucking eyes when I'm playing. This is the kind of modifications that make a game unplayable for long periods of time because it's just so bright and blurred at the same time.
I don't know about you, but when I go outside, depending on the time of day, it does get that bright out.

Bought it earlier today, but I've been downloading it since because my internet sucks. :v:
http://www.msxbox-world.com/news/article/16573/microsoft-stamps-out-offline-gamers.html DRM on a console. It has begun.

Update: It seems that this only occurs if you have downloaded the game on multiple consoles. The game will run offline if you're playing on the console that you originally downloaded the game onto. So if you do live in a household with multiple consoles, make sure they are all connected to Live to avoid this, especially if you're moving profiles around.
Erm nope, this is genuine anti piracy here, it only happens if you have it downloaded to multiple consoles with different serials.

looks pretty good and i personally prefer the blurrier look, looks more cinematic.
The graphics aren't anything mind-blowing and the frame rate does get pretty low but I'm having an absolutely great time with it. Definitely worth £15, it is a fantastically enjoyable game.
You know "indie" means independent right? If independent means "independent from a publisher" then it's true for Crytek.
I know. I meant the heavily used context of modern gaming where indie almost explicitly has become a term synonymous with "small studio".
It's so bright my eyes are burning
You must be in the dark 24/7 if that burns your eyes.
I have never played Crysis 1 because my PC couldn't handle it, but now I can.
I know. I meant the heavily used context of modern gaming where indie almost explicitly has become a term synonymous with "small studio".
More like synonymous with retro. [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] BASEMENT DEVELOPERS! GIANT PIXELS!
I never would have thought a 360 could run Crysis half decently.
It can't the game looks like ass.
Only thing I hate is how the suit is handled. There's no passive speed mode effect, armor isn't a passive effect, and strength is the default. They could've just as easily made it so holding down LB activated the radial menu, instead of using the Crysis 2 system.
It can't the game looks like ass.
No it doesn't get out.
That's what Crysis was like, have you only played Crysis 2 or something?
Uh, in Crysis you could have speed mode active and run faster by default, without actively sprinting (In the console version it's active only when you sprint), and armor was the main suit mode, and didn't actively drain suit energy.
Uh, in Crysis you could have speed mode active and run faster by default, without actively sprinting (In the console version it's active only when you sprint), and armor was the main suit mode, and didn't actively drain suit energy.
Yup, in Crysis, the suit started in Armor mode, and reverted to that if the energy drained in Stealth mode. Strength was optional, and sprint had to be enabled to make you faster in general. I don't really like the Crysis 2 system from playing the "demo" of the multi-player, especially after just coming off playing Crysis. I wonder if they changed it to this method due to the button limits on the controller or what.
So, who's up for porting this back to PC? ...guys?
So, who's up for porting this back to PC? ...guys?
What?
Uh, in Crysis you could have speed mode active and run faster by default, without actively sprinting (In the console version it's active only when you sprint), and armor was the main suit mode, and didn't actively drain suit energy.
Wait so on the console Speed makes you sprint faster, but when running it's just normal speed? I know about the rest of the stuff on the suit i just didn't know Speed was different, kinda stupid that they made it different on console.
So, who's up for porting this back to PC? ...guys?
It's funny because it'd be like almost every PC release nowadays.
