In Which Yogscast single-handedly ruined minecon for notch
Warning: Long Post!
So, with this shitstorm of Notch vs. Yogscast, I thought I would weigh in my own opinion on it, such that it is.
I'm not sure that an "f-bomb" is the sole reason for Notch wanting to not work with them anymore.
Yogscast was invited as a special guest to MineCon and was even given their own panel. What I assumed, and what I believed that Mojang assumed when they invited them to a panel, was that they would speak for an hour (hour and a half?) about their Youtube videos, podcasts and the like. They would talk about their experiences, making videos, how they got so popular, etc. Instead, what we seemed to get was an hour of them showing videos of popular builds done using Minecraft. A whole team was up on stage and it seemed only Simon/Lewis spoke.
In addition, the entire team acted like a group of self-entitled pricks the entire weekend. I worked as one of the volunteer staff that weekend and they demanded to be let in to the Scrolls/Cobalt play test area before the rest of the crowd was. We allowed them to enter for 5 minutes, as we were trying to keep to a schedule, but they created a big stink when they were asked to leave so the people who paid good money to come to MineCon could play the games too. They acted like they were the Kings of Minecraft simply because they are minor celebrities in the Youtube world.
Adding on to that, they offered to sign things for fans, in the same vein as Mojang did on Friday night. Mojang was highly classy. They talked to fans, signed whatever they wanted, and all of them, despite being exhausted, were always friendly to whatever fan wanted a word with them, even if it was just to send them away. They even signed more for the ones that were cut off in line Friday night on Saturday. Yogscast, on the other hand, passed out tickets to people who wanted an autograph during their own panel! When fans complained that they couldn't get an autograph, their response was along the lines of, "True fans would have skipped the panel to get the autograph."
Finally, on a more personal experience. My friends and I entered the main hall right after the Yogscast panel to get good seats for the closing ceremony. The Styrofoam sign that said "Yogscast" that was slapped over the "Activate Minecraft" sign on the lever on stage during their panel was being removed by the stage manager after their panel, presumably to be thrown away. My friend wanted the sign as a keepsake from MineCon, and the sign was given to her. After the closing ceremony, one of their members hunted us down to get back this sign. She used to be a huge Yogscast fan, but this experience has soured her.
In Short: The Yogscast team didn't appreciate the gesture that was given to them to be invited as a special panel to MineCon and they treated it with almost indifference. They acted like it was Mojang that should be appreciative of them gracing MineCon with their presence.
Notch may have blamed the fallout between Mojang and Yogscast on an "f-bomb" in front of kids, but I think it was more than just that. I think that Yogscast wasn't what they were hoping they would be. Mojang should probably have reviewed what Yogscast was going to be like more than they did, but MineCon had many issues like that. It wasn't perfect, and it was a bit sloppy, but I don't think Mojang should suffer all the blame for issues with Yogscast.
Just my two cents.
EDIT: For those of you who want proof, the only proof I have is my staff shirt. I can take a photo of it when I get home.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/mkew4/my_experience_with_the_yogscast_team_at_minecon/
Im actually more into this interview that yogcast did with Notch, they didnt have any questions at all, all they did was just sit there and let Notch lead the interview about what games he's played recently
There's only so many questions you can ask that haven't already been answered in interviews. Besides, Notch said at 4:23 "I think we should talk about the issues", after Simon suggested talking about Minecraft.
And so we have TotalBiscuits view on the matter.
TB has some pretty damn solid argumentation.
I am wordless, can't pick a side.
Edit:
You know what, i just thought this was gonna be another internet drama but it's starting to get interesting actually.
I remember watching the first two seasons of their Minecraft series, and they were great.
Then fuck this shit they suddenly turned into complete douches. They would just be some shitty little Let's Play channel if they had never played minecraft. THEY owe NOTCH. They should have been HONORED to be invited with room of board.
Fuck them, fuck their channel, and fuck their behavior.
They should pay several hundred dollars in expenses without expecting anything

I'd suggest not picking one until we've heard from both sides of the story.
You're the one who referred to Notch as 'god', you can't be accusing anybody of being a fanboy.
xDxd
Don't know if I was reading correctly but to me I thought he was saying Notch was Yogscast's 'god' because without Notch Yogscast would not exist.
Not picking sides. Waiting until the actual Yogscast can respond.

May have been a mistake on my part, and for that I apologise, but my other points were completely valid.
Also, it's worth noting that in the Yogscast interview with Notch, it is apparent that Notch doesn't seem to understand British humour, which may have led to these allegations in the first place.

Except the Yogscast was pretty big before they ever even made minecraft videos. Yes, minecraft made them bigger, but they didn't start off playing minecraft.
I rather enjoy a nice episode of Far Lands or Bust.
Yogscast fanboys are all over this thread xD I LOVE IT!
notch fanboys are all over this thread xD i love it

both sides are fucking retarded

Saying fuck you or kidding about it infront of a kid is not british humour, regardless of the context. It's not thinking about what you're doing at best.
Regardless this is going to be interesting, we'll see how it goes but it's going to blow over in a week anyway and nobody will even remember this happened.

You do realize that the Yogscast existed before Minecraft was even popular, right? They did WoW videos.
Even still, they don't do exclusively Minecraft videos. That's just one of the thing they're popular for.
I'll wait for Yogcast to put out their statement then I'll form an opinion. Just having one side as a source and a few other outlying people isn't enough.
I honestly will never know how either Notch or the yogscast can put up with the temperamental 12 year olds that make up almost all of their fans
My best guess is that they just ignore everyone and do what they want. Notch gets his vacations, and Yogscast gets their fun with themselves
I'm just going to put my opinion here:
From what I've read and heard (up till now), there is some shit going on from what was said from the Yogscast. It looks like it got blown out of proportion over time and has escalated into a fan-side shit storm. Notch has tweeted his feelings on the whole thing, but I say that the Tweets cannot be justified until we here what the Yogscast has to say.
However, most people on YouTube have developed a way to hide their true faces on Vlogs. So even if Yogscast explains the situation from their perspective, there will still be skepticism around the whole ordeal.
Will Notch stop working on Minecraft because of this? No.
Will Yogscast stop making videos? No.
Will we ever learn the truth? Maybe.
Will there ever be a conclusion? Yes.
There will be some sort of resolution at the end of all this. Right now, this is a play that will determine the fate of Yogscast and their channel. After watching their interview with Notch a MineCon, it seemed that they had enjoyed the time they did the interview. It was all for fun and mention to the video was made at the panel.
Note: This event sprung up after the end of MineCon. Thus there could be two things to influence its conclusion:
1) Was this said after the adult party when they may or may not have been drunk.
2) They were joking about it but the person was angry that he couldn't get to meet them and misheard from a distance from someone else. (Both days they were flooded by people for signatures so they set limits. The guy may have heard them say something but misinterpeted it.)
For now, everyone should take a fucking chill pill and see how this plays out.

To me it's like: "They said fuck, so i tried to find as many bad things as i could about them"
But then you watch their interview you wonder if Notch was doing drugs when he tweeted that.

Also, Notch coukld have posted this as a collab with Yogscast as a massive bad joke. Damn, the ways to look at this are limitless.

Time will tell.
Funny how I was there and didn't even know this was going on. Didn't really like Yogscast anyways.
Hah, I actually considered that.

I have a couple of Good friend's anyway, we'd walk along paths and if we crossed a person and the person was on my 1st friend's side he'd talk about gay sex, rape or imply to the person within earshot of the sentence that he'd rape someone later, while the second friend if someone walked past him, he'd talk loudly and jokingly (but not sound it) about being a paedophile and paedophilia it was fucking hilarious, so i can see in some aspects how that sort of behavior can be funny.
If I were anyone reading this thread, don't take sides until you hear both sides, all you've heard so far is a tired Notch spurt out angry shit. Wait until they've both gotten some rest tomorrow, it'll probably all fan out smoothly, if it doesn't, the Yogscast will find another game to play.
I've watched the Yogscast since they just started their SoI series, I found it funny, i've also watched the real-life videos of them as well, and the interview with Notch to add onto that, from what I can see f-bombing a kid doesn't sound like something they'd do, they'd probably joke about it in front of a kid aged 15+ because they'll get the joke. The only reason I can think of that would make Simon / Lewis do that to a minor would be because the kid started taking the piss out of them or stole something, now what we need to find out is, how old was this 'kid', because in England, a person is generally known as a kid until about the age of 14 / 15, at least in the area I live. By then, they've matured to accept the fact that a joke is a joke, it doesn't mean someone hates your guts, if anything Notch might've looked at the situation wrong.
On the other hand, I guess we all expected the Yogscast panel to be all of the cast to be talking about how things started up and whatnot, in my opinion, it got shit-boring 15 minutes in, I just closed it down and did something else. I didn't want to watch some videos that I could've watched a couple nights after Minecon, they were boring as shit, I didn't care about some large builds some guy created, I watched it expecting like a detailed history of their coming together and how they got famous, not them showing, as usual, some other twats creation. Maybe the Yogscast did abuse their position as 'YouTube Celebrities', but really, they're not celebrities at all, celebrities are generally people everyone has heard of, everyone's heard of Charlie Sheen, and William Shatner. You ask most people around your area, they won't have heard of 'The Yogscast', 'Simon Lane' or 'Lewis Brindley'.
Overall, there's reasoning so far to accuse both sides of being the reason a shit-storm started brewing, if Notch is lying about all that's happened, the fans of the Yogscast are going to come back in a storm of rage. If the Yogscast did actually do it, Notch will gain a little credability, but what happens to the Yogscast is all dependant on how old that kid was, if he/she was a minor, people will start to hate them, if he/she was a teenager, they might think "Oh, it was all obviously just a joke" and all we go back to normal, apart from Mojang having a natural hate towards the Yogscast.
That's my story on it anyway.
tl;dr
Both sides could be to blame, we don't have enough evidence to prove either one, both sides failed to give at Minecon and shit went down.
One day:

Then a couple days later:

From this we conclude that notch is bipolar.

But this is what I'm saying, Notch hasn't even given us an age of the 'kid'. Misinformation is the cause of this shitstorm, and it was highly unprofessional of Notch to bring this to twitter without any form of proof or substance to what he is saying.
I don't even feel like picking a side
i feel like sitting back and watch how this unfolds
i have the feeling it will be really exciting
Edit:
i mean, almost all fights are just people fighting over opinions with their own opinions with obvious stuff and retarded arguments
this smells like there will be an ACTUAL argumentation, how often do you guys have the chance to see something like this?
Having read all these statements from those concerned and involved, but without input from Yogscast themselves, I'm getting a feeling they're in the wrong.
Minecraft is a friendly game, it's largest Demographic is teenagers and young children who enjoy building and creating structures that they can't do in reality. I don't know the Demographics of Minecon attendees, but I saw some pictures of the queues and there seemed to be a lot of young teenagers with parents.
Having said that, it seems that Mojang didn't even go over what Yogscast would include in their hour and a half slot, which is undeniably sloppy.
Hopefully the Yogscast make a good response to this, I don't want to see a stupid dispute over the word 'fuck' in front of a supposed 'kid' who's probably heard it more times than day's he has spent living.
[editline]21st November 2011[/editline]
I'd just like to add that British people are known for taking the piss out of literally EVERYTHING. It's out nature.

Yeah I think Notch had a few to drink while he was tweeting.
lest yogcast forget, they make a living off minecraft, which Notch allows them to do 100% for free.
