But the game wasn't hard because of bad controls, cheap enemies, or lack of proper preparation, but genuine difficulty.
I personally think Castlevania had some frustrating controls. Such as not being able to move around while jumping, and the fact that there was a delay when you swung your whip. I should clarify, I'm not saying the controls were bad, just frustrating in comparison to games such as Super Mario Bros. or the later Super Castlevania IV.
[editline]adding shit[/editline]
To contribute to the gushing, I'll retell my experiences with older consoles. I played Super Mario Bros. with my Grandpa. It was fucking awesome. We would do this glitch in World 3 to get huge amounts of lives. When you died, the Life counter wouldn't show numbers, but random sprites instead, or letters of the alphabet.
I myself owned a Sega Genesis unlike most people did around that time. I played lots of Sonic and Street Fighter 2. Hadouken <3

HO BOY.
Game lagged like a sonnavabitch in crowded areas, it was ahead of it's time and awesome, and I'll never forget it. I still have it.

There are certain things in Goldeneye that we don't see in games at all anymore. Like bullet trajectories were really precise. Most games now have a hitbox around the models, and as long as you hit that box, it counts. In Goldeneye, you could shoot in between an enemy's feet and that wouldn't count as a hit. You could shoot their gun, and they'd recoil, but not be hurt. You could even shoot their damn hats off (which I did all the time).
Plus they used some really good animations, (I think motion-capture was involved) and it was really awesome that enemies would react differently based on where you hit them. Like you shoot their shoulder, and they'd stumble back while grabbing their shoulder. You shoot their thigh, and they bend over clutching their thigh.
In a lot of ways, it was really ahead of its time

Anyone remembers this game?
It was fucking awesome!
The old megaman covers make me laugh every time I see them.
Until like 2004ish, i had nothing but the original NES, and six games.
Two of which should be very familiar to anyone here, namely they were The Legend of Zelda, and Castlevania 3.
Then, i had three games which sucked donkey balls, namely Lion King the video game, Dracula the video game, and *Sigh* Captain Planet the video fucking game.
But, i also had a slightly less known game which was actually really awesome, a little gem of a pussle gamer called.

And it was awesome.

Still have that game, good memories. And the Star Wars music fitted so much. (What was the name of the orchester who made the music?)
Im gonna go play Captain Planet now, wish me luck, i hope i won't attempt suicide this time.

I remember turning the AI off and having a blast pushing them off cliffs and into rivers. I still do that in games if I get the chance. Drag bodies off cliffs or throw them into water.

Game was so bad but so good at the same time
That is truly an amazing game.
I loved that game so much.

Maybe the controls were frustrating in that sense, but it was evened out by the fact that the game was planned around those controls. Sure the whip took a second, but you always had at least 2 seconds of preparation, and that's what felt good about it, you were fast on your feet, and made it past this difficult obstacle alive. Unless you're talking about the hall before the Grim Reaper. That was fucking hard.
Anyone ever played and remember this?

Still loving this game.
Probably because it is! Play it, you won't regret it!
Sorry to ask again, but it was never answered and I would really like to know.
Where can I find it? Do I need a solid copy? or is it freeware at this point?
(game in question is Grim Fandango)
Yeah, good luck with that.

Chrono Trigger is easily one of my most favorite games ever. It's also the only RPG where I completed everything, unlocked all the characters and did all of the side quests. I just never got around to beating it for the like 11 endings it had.
I'll admit, when I beat it I teared up a bit. You grow attached to those characters. :smith:
