Oh and while we are doing the "Post minecraft box to show up OP" I want to post this.

Most of it was done by hand. the features were added by MCEdit because I got lazy.

It's small but the idea is very good imo.
This took me 2 seconds on google to find a bigger version of the exact same thing, just with the Xbox header.

wow so much bigger
I don't really understand why you put "Woo, VGBA" on a lightly-filtered screenshot and nothing else. Unless you wanted people to just focus on the front and side area. If you designed the back area with the intent of that being part of the final product, then that would be the worst implementation on a game cover, because someone will see the simple front area, then turn it over only to see the same thing with no content or explanation of the game itself. Just some yellow text slapped on.
Imagine you picked up a Portal 2 case, then turned it over only to see a screenshot of Chell firing a blue portal with randomly placed text saying "Place portals on walls!"

I didn't make it with the intent of advertising the game or having it in a retail store. I look at it more of something that would be in my personal collection.
All of these remind me how much I wish Minecraft had some physical copy form. Easier than buying a gift code.
Apparently 48 people like it, and that was enough to get it in to the Hall of Fame.
Art is not about getting strangers to click buttons on webpages.
And from a marketing standpoint, your covers are terrible. Designing a game cover has two parts to it: Making an attention-grabbing, distinctive front cover to enfranchise fans and make newcomers pick up the game, and having details and information on the back to convince people that the game is worth their money.
At first, it seems like you've got the attention grabbing part down, but the lack of any kind of informative content and your comment kind of reveals that you don't actually know what you're talking about.
I don't think it really fits the simplicity of the front.
Not only is this "critique" laughably self-important after getting so much negative feedback on your own cover, the critique itself really shows that you don't actually understand the graphic design elements that come into play when making a marketable product.
As for the art itself... It's alright. The New Vegas cover, not the minecraft one. The minecraft one is awful. It looks shitty and is non-functional as a game cover. At best, it could be considered bad fanart.
I like this one.

Why so many disagrees?
Build immense structures
with a wide range of blocks
, from stone to sponge

Do games normally list a day-night cycle as a feature? Nevermind highlighting how much inventory space you get.
Why did you make a thread for this?
Yeah, I always pictured the Minecraft box art to be very simple:

That background looks like Scrabble to me.
your cover makes me wanna :suicide:

this one had a good idea but the description on the back is awful
what kind of game describes how much the blocks stack up to, but not what you actually do in the game
christ they could've just used the description on minecraft.net
Also OP, your box looks like something that could be done with paint in less than 10 minutes. Try looking at real game boxes and start building up on their format.
Also, don't forget to add a phrase like "Unleash your inner X"

Why does only the box have a reflection?
Excuse us for telling the truth.
Also, there's been plenty said that he can improve on.
Like making it more simple to draw the buyer's eye, or make it unique.
There's a difference between constructive criticism and just being a total douchebag.
"Hey guys, I put some effort into something, what do you guys think? Anything I can improve on?"
OH MY GOD IT FUCKING SUCKS THERE IS NO EFFORT STOP EVEN FUCKING TRYING GOD SO FUCKING PATHETIC

It's not like game developers look through the covers on the site to decide what they're going to use when the game is released. Our covers will never make it to a store, so why do they all have to adhere to the normal rules of what a retail box art should be? Some of the best and most artistic boxes on the site would not be successful marketing boxes because that's simply not what they were made for.
Also, because I got shit on by everyone that means I can't share my opinion of someone else's box?

I would like a dvd box, but this is just clever. Clever enough to be used.
What the hell does "Woo,VGBA" even mean?

technically, yes, but its less iconic.

That's cool, but you could easily just make that stuff out of paper for less.
There isn't really a need for a minecraft CD unless a metric fuckton of mods would be packed along.
Wow, I am flattered someone likes that thing.
How could they not? It looks far better than the actual box art, and it just looks fantastic in general! You gave it that gritty "New Vegas" feel, without cluttering or making it too busy.

Thanks! I was thinking of Redrawing that Vault Boy and redoing the box into a poster.
