What about the Summoner or Champions of Norrath series? The PS2 had all the good Diablo-likes.
I never played those but I kinda intended to. I hear Champions was really similar to the BG:DA games, and it's the closest thing to a sequel since Black Isle accidentally their whole studio.
Sacred was a great Diablo like game and the coop was really fun because it was so horribly hard to kill a Dragon we had to use in-game bugs to defeat it. I really want to try Sacred 2 now but it didn't get a low of attention so I'm worried.

It's not really bad I guess, but a lot of things irritate me about it. Like it's pretty much impossible to play through the game without changing the camera angle at some point, but doing that interferes with my minimap orientation and I just generally have a hard time with it. You can set it so that the minimap is always oriented the same way, but then it'll look like your character and your map cursor are moving in two different directions. Or you can set it so the minimap turns with the camera, but then north won't always be toward the top of the map, which throws me off. Also didn't like the "funny" voice clips constantly spouted by characters and enemies, but those can probably be turned off somehow (I just never bothered to check). And I might be the exception to this, but the PC version seems to be shittily optimized. I have a decent PC, but I get shitty framerates even at mid settings. But I hear the console version has a lot more problems, like a bad interface and stuff like that. Overall the nature of the quests and stuff made it feel more like an MMO than a Diablo clone to me, but I can see that some people would go for that.
Guys, how exactly do you play Diablo 2 once you reach hell mode? I'm on non-ladder with a shitload of free weapons I recieved, but every server is either a duel, trade, or a Hammerdin bot systematically killing the bosses, noone plays the game :(
Played Diablo 2 at a LAN with my mates. I was the Barbarian, and they got all pissy cause I took all the kills. Kinda hard not to go round slaughtering everything. And our Necromancer was using a spear.

NEW DIABLO 3 INFO RELEASED BY BLIZZARD http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/systems/runestones.xml Whirlwind Whirlwind is an iconic Diablo II skill, wherein the barbarian spins furiously and damages any enemies in his path. Crimson - Shoots bits of rock and gravel in every direction, dealing area effect damage. Indigo - Barbarian spawns smaller whirlwinds which deal direct damage. Obsidian - Provides the barbarian with immunity to immobilizing effects. Golden - Reduced Fury cost. Alabaster - Critical strikes confuse enemies, forcing them to attack their allies for a short time. Sweeping Wind Sweeping Wind is a combo skill that lashes out against all enemies surrounding the monk, creating a vortex of damaging wind that increases in damage and radius across three stages. Crimson - A flurry of blades increases Sweeping Wind's damage. Indigo - Expands the area of effect and strikes enemies with additional fire-based attacks. Obsidian - A persistent whirlwind surrounds the monk, dealing damage to any foes that come into contact. Golden - Increases Spirit regeneration. Alabaster - A powerful sandstorm billows with the monk's attacks, damaging enemies and knocking them back. Ray of Frost Ray of Frost is a wizard spell that damages and freezes enemies caught in the beam, slowing their movement and attack speed. Crimson - Beam increases in damage the longer it remains in use, to a cap. Indigo - Wizard is surrounded by a swirling vortex of sleet, damaging any foes that come into contact. Obsidian - Decreases beam damage, but increases reduction in target movement and attack speed. Golden - Arcane Power cost reduced. Alabaster - Enemies slain by Ray of Frost have a chance to leave an area of ice on the ground where they die, damaging other enemies if they move through it. Cluster Arrow Cluster Arrow is a powerful demon hunter tool, as it fires a cluster bomb which explodes on impact, releasing smaller bombs which explode shortly thereafter. Crimson - Increases the damage of the explosion at the point of impact. Indigo - Fires enemy-seeking missiles instead of grenades. Obsidian - The Cluster Arrow is launched high into the air and rains down grenades. Golden - Instead of grenades, the skill spawns shadow creatures that attack nearby enemies and leech life to the demon hunter. Alabaster - Adds a stun effect to the grenade explosions. Acid Cloud Acid Cloud is a witch doctor skill that summons an acid-spewing spirit, raining caustic, skin-dissolving death on the unfortunate enemies below. Crimson - Causes immediate damage instead of a damage over time effect. Indigo - Increases area-of-effect radius. Obsidian - Spawns slimes that attack nearby enemies. Golden - Afflicts enemies with a disease effect that deals damage over time. Alabaster - The witch doctor belches forth a directional pool of acid.
The runestones are really cool.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit those are some really nice effects, I especially like Barbarian's Whirlwind and Witch Doctor's Acid Cloud.
"Yep, that's a cow".
well at least this is better than the overpowered runewords from d2
We should set up a FP-Crew for Diablo II : LoD and run through the whole game :v:
I agree. I'll set up the steam group. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] If I'm not mistaken, there is already a FP Diablo group. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] http://steamcommunity.com/groups/fpdiablo Here be the group. Join it.
Holy hell, those runes are pretty neat. Makes me feel glad you don't need a combo of hard-to-find runes to make it happen. I'm looking at you, Delirium runeword.
Feels like the runes would make playing more interesting, thankfully.
Favorite class? Diablo 1 is the Rogue, Diablo 2 is the Amazon Diablo 3 is probably going to be the Barbarian.
I loved being a necromancer in Diablo 2, shit was so cash when I got my golem and destroyed everything with my dead buddies.
I found Necro pretty tough to play as my skeledudes would drop like dust from bosses. Then again, I tried it when I was like 14 :v:
I love dark magic and necromancy in games, but for some reason I just didn't like him in Diablo 2. I can't pinpoint my finger as to why exactly either, it just felt like (to me) something was missing. Loved his poison and bone spells, but everything else to me felt completely lackluster. Anyways, favorite classes in diablo 2, barbarian, sorceress, and druid. Oh yes!
I like the necromancer because in singleplayer, the golems and skeletons would help the lonely feeling. That was before I started playing online.
The problem with Necromancer is that summoning is almost entirely useless. In the beginning they are weak and they don't really gain much strength later on to compensate. They can hardly compete against later acts or bosses. Most Necromancers focus on spells like Bone spear or Spirit Orb because they actually deal some yummy damage as they progress. But summons just don't cut it. You have to forget about ever other skill and focus entirely on summons to get them relatively equal to what they have to fight. Don't forget that you have you kill for corpses in some cases first, so you need to be able to do that yourself.
corpse explosion + summon + curse necromancers are beast at pvm idk why you guys say they are useless
I remember the good old duel games, and the high level players flooding the "Low Level Duels" games. I brought my level 85 or so windy Druid to kill all of them. I succeeded until a Traps Assassin trapped me in her traps. I lost a lot of gold that day.
Righto. Starting a new. What class should I pick? Not paladin. As much as I like easy mode, not doing it.
Righto. Starting a new. What class should I pick? Not paladin. As much as I like easy mode, not doing it.
Be a barbarian or a sorceress. Those are the two most fun classes to me because they basically focus on doing direct damage.
Seems its just bot-spam in every single game I go... :sigh:
Gonna be starting a new barb. What build is best for PvM?

Diablo II is by far one of my more favorite games. On one of my play-throughs, i got a green item within 5 minutes of starting it.
