makes me want to find my old install of D2 and start a new assassin.
Anybody want to play some DirectIP? I have a level 36 Necromancer (Summoner build).
Diablo II is by far one of my more favorite games. On one of my play-throughs, i got a green item within 5 minutes of starting it.
A set piece? For which class? :o
corpse explosion + summon + curse necromancers are beast at pvm idk why you guys say they are useless
And corpse explosion had a buff to damage in the most recent patch. After maxing it, the radius of it can even exceed your screen, and with damage that causes most monsters to die in 1 - 2 explosions (without curses), necromancer decimates. Although corpse explosion damage doesn't scale when you get more players in your game so then it becomes less efficient. In singleplayer it is king though.
I love Diablo, its extremely nostalgic. Also because Diablo is the reason I have TF2 because my dad lost a bet. The bet was that if I beat Diablo I in less than a week then I could have TF2. If I failed, I would have to read Battlefield Earth (the longest book in the English language)
Didn't know this many FPers played Diablo. This is really cool.
I've heard of Hellfire, but I've never ever ever ever ever ever seen it anywhere.
it's a shitty expansion for the first diablo that wasn't even made by blizzard, i believe
And I'm only level 5. Hell yes. :buddy:
I have a strange feeling that Diablo III won't live up to the hype. I'd rather have Diablo II gameplay with new graphics.. Instead, we have WoW style graphics, the super cheesy Demon Hunter class and seriously, NO CAMERA control. We can't even zoom it. 10+ years waiting for.. that?
They should've kept the same classes, it just wont feel Diablo-ey...
It's like playing Witcher 2.. I love that they made it gorgeous and realistic. It doesn't look all browned out, grayed out or blown out. Diablo II was simple in it's 2d tech but at least it was was somewhat gritty. Diablo III looks like an upgraded WoW engine. I hope we are all pleasantly surprised but the more I see and read about Diablo III, the less faith I have in it...
I lost my diablo 2 key.. But i have LOD still :(
I found Necro pretty tough to play as my skeledudes would drop like dust from bosses. Then again, I tried it when I was like 14 :v:
I always focused on the Bone skills. Wreck shit all day long. [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
it's a shitty expansion for the first diablo that wasn't even made by blizzard, i believe
Yeah, I know it was made by Sierra I think. But I'd still like to try it out. I've never seen it ANYWHERE though.
Oh man, I remember a few years ago I was playing this with a friend. We had the server passworded and everything, suddenly this high-tier player joins and starts beating me and said friend to a pulp. I still wonder till this day how they got the pass.
I lost my diablo 2 key.. But i have LOD still :(
Same here. Don't have my Diablo II key, but I've got my LOD key around here somewhere. The Diablo Battlechest is like $30 still too. :saddowns: [editline]29th May 2011[/editline]
Oh man, I remember a few years ago I was playing this with a friend. Here's something I wrote up a while ago that applies to what you said:
How come you and so many other people think that Diablo 2 was perfection? You think that by straying from Diablo 2, this game is suffering. I love Diablo 2, but I see now just how flawed it is. Here's a list of things that bug me and lots of others: Botting (I don't mean advertisement bots, I mean the bots that run Baal all day and farm items. People should have to play to get good items) Duplicating items Spam bots (BNet 2.0) Worthless gold (yeah you need it for a few things like mercenaries and repairs but that's it) Flawed economy (thanks to worthless gold, botters, dupers, and the barter system that is inefficient unless you convert to currency [which should be gold but is instead gems and runes because gold is worthless]) Unbalanced skills (Too many useless skills in comparison to the most viable ones) Boring sections (Mainly Act 3 artifact collecting) The difficulty curve between modes (Not that Hell was too hard, but that normal was way too easy) Unbalanced items (high-end runewords and item tiers that are nearly useless like staves) Disorganized PVP (this one is debatable as being a good thing or a bad thing, some people love the chaos of PVP in Diablo 2) Easy griefing (especially in hardcore mode) Etc. The reason I list all of these out is to make this point: the Diablo 3 team has worked to solve all of the above problems. Every single problem above has been addressed and is being worked on. Yes, gold will finally have value and will be a viable currency. Furthermore, Diablo 3 will fix things that weren't even as big of problems: Attribute system reworked to be automatic (A lot of people detest this, but I like Blizzard's reasoning behind this; most attribute setups were the same for builds, enough strength to wear gear and the rest in vitality. Of course it would differ a little if you wanted max block, were an energy shield sorc, etc., but still mostly the same) Shared stash (so that transfering items isn't a hassle anymore) Individual Drops (So people won't snatch your items. You will still get drops from monsters slain by teammates, you only have to be a certain distance from your teammate/monster according to Blizz) Respecialization included Of course, Diablo 3 also expands upon the gameplay previously put forth: Skill runes (Gives lots of customizability to skills) PVP Arenas (Specially designed for PVP, and now people won't be able to run away the entire time like in D2) AI can now prioritize players (Meaning they won't all go for the tank attacking them and may go straight for the casters) Random quests Can't really add too much to the last section since Blizzard hasn't really showed us a lot, trading system is probably reworked. So this is why I think Diablo 3 is going to be amazing. Of course there are those that will then cling onto the art aspect of the game, but gameplay is what matters, and the art style is fine anyway.

A set piece? For which class? :o
It was a set piece but i can't remember what class it was for. Quick question: Can you re-specialize in Diablo III? I could safely assume yes.
I remember the days when people laughed at you for having a set item lower in value than Tal Rasha's. My first character was a fire Sorceress that had full Sigon's on until about level 70. I was ridiculed for ages. Then I started scamming people for items.
I am then the exact opposite, the more I read about Diablo III the more excited I get. Here's something I wrote up a while ago that applies to what you said:
Diablo 3 is amazing on it's mechanics alone, but the art style has really grown on me as well: The only way I imagine it could disappoint me is if it had really bland and conservatively balanced loot.
I hope that drops are still fair game to anyone, and not this "loot roll/gold share" bullshit.

Instead, we have WoW style graphics, the super cheesy Demon Hunter class and seriously, NO CAMERA control. We can't even zoom it. 10+ years waiting for.. that?
There's no camera control in the first two games, and they work just fine. I'm not super-attached to any particular graphical style, so I don't think that could make or break a game for me either. Fate and Torchlight had graphics that were more vividly colored or "kiddy" or "WoW-esque" but they were still decent Diablo clones. Not particularly incredible, but their shortcomings were not in the graphics department. Well... Some of Fate's monsters were really shitty-looking, but it was mostly adequate
torchlight was fun i enjoyed it i hope torchlight 2 will be better
Torchlight was fun for me but I got tired of it's lack of depth compared to Diablo 2, and lack of multiplayer.
Aw, the PvP was totally beast in Diablo II, and I don't like the fact item drops are individual.. That just ruins it. Rushing Baal as he died to hopefully get a Unique item was so ... fun. :sigh: ..

I've never really tried the SnB type, since Double Swing is pretty much a lawnmower to the face of demons. But shields have some nice defense and block stupid arrows. Halp. :frown:
I was playing LoD with my uncle, and he has this amazing assassin. I am jelly.
I need to get back into this game. I have a fully geared summonancer, and a decent javazon. Don't know what to make now, though.
Strength Necro for man points. :eng101:
