1. If they reach 10mil, you get the game and the price stays $1, forever. I don't see how it's stupid. 2. Obviously? Did you expect the game to be free or $5? It looks very good for an indie title, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't charge $34 for a quality product (Which is actually pretty cheap comparing to other game prices) 3. So you're implying this game sucks? Because if anything, it looks great and I don't think they will have trouble finding a job judging by size and quality of this game. If anything, some publisher will probably buy them to make a sequel, either as Dead Space competitor or maybe even get hired by DS team. :v: [editline]11th October 2011[/editline] Also, thread title sucks, makes it look like a cheap 2d or some flash game.
It WON'T get 10 million. It's impossible, even if it was free and 1mb it would not get 10 million downloads in 30 days. As someone stated, none of the humble bundles have gotten far over 1 million downloads. That's one cent, and most don't require a graphics card.
Exactly. The game doesn't cost 1 dollar. It costs 35 dollars. You pay 1 dollar now and when it inevitably doesn't get 10 million preorders, you get the hidden charge of 34 dollars. They're using charity to cover up their scam.
Wait, so if you buy multiple copies of the game, when it doesn't reach the 10 million preorders do you get charged multiple times? Like if you bought 10$ worth of preorders would you owe them $350?
Exactly. The game doesn't cost 1 dollar. It costs 35 dollars. Scam or not, it's just one dollar, if it really goes to charity, well, you've done a good thing, if not, not a big deal really, you can always acquire the game by other means if are really disappointed with the devs.
it is one dollar and eleven cents stop being such cheapasses holy shit
it is one dollar and eleven cents stop being such cheapasses holy shit
It is one dollar, for something which you probably won't get at all.
You are donating to charity. [editline]eh[/editline] Which really sucks because when they don't make 10 million sales, everyone is going to talk shit about them and make them out to be monsters even though they're donating money, all because people will make such a giant mess out of the one dollar they put down on something this ambitious.
They should not have picked a 10 million dollar cut off.
it looks like deadspace i bet the monsters were never there and the main char just went crazy and is also killing crazy people
it looks like deadspace i bet the monsters were never there and the main char just went crazy and is also killing crazy people
That'd be awesome. Too many games have happy endings and/or protagonists that are trying to save the world/do the right thing.
check youtube comments WOW TERRIBLE ENGLISH + SOME UNKNOWN CHARITY = SCAM! DONT BUY!!!
Definitely everyone with terrible English is a scammer.. Seems legit
How many of you did watch the video explaining WHY one dollar? They understand it will probably fail, but still want to do something epic. There's no reason to think it's a scam, Nicolas Games aren't unknown, although they haven't published any big titles IIRC.
It's a great idea, but $10 million is far too high.
Agreed
1 million would be better. I mean, higher chance and still huge achievement.
Looks just like Dead Space to me
Exactly. The game doesn't cost 1 dollar. It costs 35 dollars. That game is worth far more than 1$, how is it a scam? It's a scam to get it for 1$ IMO. Right now, it's Pre-order the game for what, 0.5% of the original price and if we don't get 10 million copies, you pay THE ORIGINAL PRICE and the 1$ (hey.....1 DOLLAR IS NOT MUCH) you paid goes to charity. Where is the scam in this?
There's still more than 2 months until the release, so if they advertise this enough, they might just get those 10 million. I doubt it would be that hard to find 10 million people who'd be willing to pay a dollar on the internet.
10 million would make it the 6th best selling PC game of all time.
10 million would make it the 6th best selling PC game of all time.
With a normal priced game, it'd be quite a lot to be trying to achieve, but when it's 10 million of 1$, I doubt it would be that hard to find 10 million people online who have a 1$ to spare. Besides, there'll probably be people who'll buy several copies, maybe more than 10. It counts the $, not the seperate people.
Make Notch hear about this, +4000 to the counter. :v:
I have two things to say to you, Mister Lance. Gabe. Newell. That is all.
Oh boy! 14k the first day, 1700 the second. I can see 10 million in the next 28 days easily!
it looks like deadspace i bet the monsters were never there and the main char just went crazy and is also killing crazy people
In The Suffering it turns out that your main power (ie. Turning into a huge fucking monster with massive claws and super strength) was actually you just having some sort of epic adrenaline rush and going batshit crazy. If you pay attention to NPC's comments when you enter 'Insanity Mode' then they're like "Holy shit man, you're like some sort of freak-killing machine". (Depending on your karma meter, at the end you either overcome your inner monster and escape the island or succumb to it and charge back into the prison) [editline]16th October 2011[/editline] I bought it. For 73p I don't care if it succeeds or not. If it really is a scam I'll fight if they try to take any extra money. I've only consented to the removal of 73p from my paypal account, I don't see how they could legally decide to take more.

Even though it's impossible for them to get 10 mil. pre-orders, I've still "pre-ordered" it.
"We have the pleasure to announce that today we started the cooperation with Amnesty International! It's official - money collected during pre-orders will be donated to AI! :)"
Could some nice soul out there get me a key? I'm a bit short right now.
