• Whatever happened to "I Am Alive"?

Oh man
I hate bumping threads, but I'd rather bump a thread than create a new one. I am sure the mods will appreciate it. Anyways, something awful has happened to I Am Alive. Is the awful news that it's cancelled? No, actually. Quite the opposite. It's coming out soon. It's coming out soon as an Xbox Live & PSN arcade game. I guess it's not that awful. Looks alright. Maybe I'm just expecting less because it's an arcade title, or maybe I just preferred the old look. This is fairly old news, but I didn't find out until about last week so I figured it wasn't very widespread. Last year it was revealed that I Am Alive's old build was scrapped, and was being remade on a (slightly updated) version of Splinter Cell Double Agent's engine, aka Unreal. My guess is that the project was too ambitious, but Ubisoft wanted to do something with the IP, so they decided to plop it on a smaller scale. Apparently the disaster that caused all the destruction is only referred to as "the event". Way to take a cop-out, Ubi. I think the main goal of the game is still to survive and find supplies and shit. Developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, I Am Alive was engineered to create a convincing, post-disaster world in which players are faced with thought-provoking choices. I Am Alive follows an everyman’s journey to find his wife and daughter, who were lost during the “Event.” A year later, he finds Haventon, his hometown, in shambles. Buildings are destroyed, toxic ash fills the streets, and society has been torn, causing inhabitants to take all necessary actions to survive. “We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it’s going to be worth the wait,” said Adam Novickas, Director of Marketing at Ubisoft. “I Am Alive presents a unique take on the post-apocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game.” In I Am Alive, players will be challenged by both their environment and their enemies. Stamina and resource management are key when being exposed to deadly atmospheres and scaling enormous buildings in search of supplies. The unique combat system requires players to utilize intimidation: cowards are easily swayed with an empty gun, while other enemies will put players to the test.
http://www.xblaratings.com/blog/4742-xbox-live-arcade-getting-i-am-alive- http://www.oxm.co.uk/34328/i-am-alive-is-xbox-live-arcade-title-new-gameplay-trailer-and-screenshots/ Here's totally like a trailer and shit, dogs. The project was really ambitious, and Ubi Shanghai frankly had no idea what they were doing when they made it. I have a source, and if I remember correctly, Shanghai originally wrote the disaster as a tsunami. in fucking chicago
First time I saw that, I thought it was some kind of 2012 game. :v:

I was reading a magazine that showed this and i was hell excited but i forgot about it until i seen this thread title
Wow, consoles only?
Looks pretty good, but if its consoles only I probably won't be picking it up.
Glad I got a PS3 for this.
Frankly, I had forgotten about it after some time, and thought that the shitty game Disaster: Day of crisis was what it turned into.
Well I guess I'm not getting this game then.
Ubisoft No PC version Rehashed on a new engine nope
Ubisoft No PC version Rehashed on a new engine nope
After From Dust, I don't trust Ubisoft in the least.
I remember being really hyped about this when I first seen the trailer but this pretty much sums it up now:
Ubisoft No PC version Rehashed on a new engine nope
I wish it wasn't alive anymore. Not even interested in buying it off of PSN.
Bleh. This looked so much more inventive when first we saw it, now it looks like a vaguely more realistic Fallout. Though it might still be decent the same way Splinter Cell Conviction is "decent". But that's a bit optimistic.
i dunno, might be a good way to kill some time.
i dunno, might be a good way to kill some time.
So is stabbing yourself with a fork...
Didn't they release a new trailer not too long ago? Ingame and all that shit. [editline]26th October 2011[/editline] It looked pretty good.
ahaha no pc version go die in a hole ubisoft
You people are being pretty immature about there not being a PC version. [editline]28th October 2011[/editline] Adventure games are much better on a console anyway.
Minecraft is kinda of an adventure game. is it better on consoles ?
Minecraft is kinda of an adventure game. is it better on consoles ?
Two completely different gameplay styles.
You people are being pretty immature about there not being a PC version. [editline]28th October 2011[/editline] Adventure games are much better on a console anyway.
That's completely your opinion. Most people would want to at least be able to choose between PC and console rather than being forced to use the latter.
That's completely your opinion. I Am Alive seems to be more of a 3rd person platformer where you scale buildings and shit, kinda like Uncharted. PC controls for it would be too awkward.
Not necessarily. I Am Alive seems to be more of a 3rd person platformer where you scale buildings and shit, kinda like Uncharted. PC controls for it would be too awkward.
Not really.

Anyways, I remember seeing a few trailers back then and I felt excited about this game. Now, not so much. Especially when it's not being released on PC. :\
They've made it more combat focused with parkour and shit. What the fuck did you do, ubisoft?
I would rather the game come out, then not come out at all.
