I remember being terrified while escaping the prison ship at the beginning of Unreal, but then I also remember drooling over the realtime reflections and coloured lighting. And it seemed like these guys were always jumping out of nowhere.

I must've logged like, 2 hours and I feel nothing when I play it. In pitch darkness, with headphones, at 3am in the morning. Some people just need to grow a pair.
I see an enemy and I actually go "oh lawd" then I go and run and hide somewhere. Then I get out and continue on as normal. I was disappointed the game didn't frighten me
it also amuses me that all the pussies who shit their pants rated me dumb because they're too afraid to admit that they are pussies
