Anyone else have any horrifying "save data is corrupt" stories?
Finally got through the fucking horrifying part in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, mentioned earlier (Monsters you can't kill). Also killed that really hard boss. Save, quit, after some time I start it up. SAVE DATA IS CORRUPT, FORMAT? Y/N. I was around 12 at the time I think.
I'm playing Metro 2033 for the first time and the fucking mutant/monsters are so fucking terrifying, I'm screaming like a little girl.
Just wait untill you get to the Moscow Library.
I have no idea why but this screen always makes gives me the creeps.

AAAAAAAAAH!!! I went through 2 PS2 phats & 2 slims because of that. My slim2 (top loading) US NTSC model is still alive. Gave up on buying another JP one though.
I found Kingdom Hearts' last world very creepy. The music just reinforced the atmosphere, what with the ominous Latin chanting.
Then there were the empty, vast and unnatural areas, filled with monsters which you couldn't see until you were ambushed by them.

The music in that game is amazing. Man tears with Disney and FF characters, this is truly the game of my childhood. So many memories.
So data corruption scares people in this thread?

When it means you'll have to play scary parts again. :smith:
Disk errors scare me in the right situation.
You're in the dark, with parents sleeping, playing gamecube/ps2.
Suddenly it goes dead silent and theres a black screen with some error message on it.
Freaky.

Oh god. When I played Zelda OOT on my N64. The cartridge glitched and sent me all over the place in Water Temple, with all the screeching noises you can expect out the speakers. Panic race to the power slider.
Alright.... remember at nighttime in Zelda OOT at Hyrule Field those Stalchild things popped out of the ground and tried to kill you and shit? And sometimes a bigger one popped out?
Well, me being 5 and all, they pretty much made me not want to go to Hyrule Field during the nighttime.
That quake 4 section when it transformes you in a Crogg (thats the name?). When it cuts your legs off and replaces the with metal ones.
The atmosphere in FO3 and New Vegas. At some parts you just get really sweaty from the suspense.
Here it is EVEN IN HD! 2:16

Which vault is that? I don't want to sleep tonight anyway.
The haunted hallway in that hotel level from Hitman: Contracts.

I must be the only one who gets this, since I played Tron 2.0. (Huge Tron nerd here)
Going through there being unable to see what's ahead of you after a yard or so is kinka spooky....
Edit:
And fighting MA3A after she was turned into a huge fucking evil thing by the legacy code was also kinda scary.

I played that part. My friend was afraid to go further so I took over. Only part I played in NV, but it wasn't that scary.

I must say, that screen makes me quite uneasy, it's so eerily calm
It'd be awesome and scary to have a console with a small smoke maker in it that activates on that error screen. Also, the disc reader should fail and scratch the disc, making the scariest sound ever.

And not to forget, black lights and small red lights.

Sounds extremely similar to Metroid Prime 3's Skytown music...

Also, does anyone remember the part in Half Life where a zombie is sitting in a chair in front of a flashing screen and having an epileptic seizure? That freaked the FUCK out of the me.
I know I'm probably late with this, but I didn't understand people saying that the missing frequencies with Lavender Town would cause them to get headaches, and extremely anxious. Now, being 3 AM for me, and listening to the Song of Healing reversed made me finally understand what people meant. I can't listen more than halfway through without getting incredibly anxious.
When I saw what that video was, I instantly paused it saying "NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE" after I read that whole damn story I couldn't sleep for a couple of days.
Why do people find that story so scary, I watched a few of the videos and the only reason it was scary was because of the stupid jump scares they threw in and the chubby link guy who who never used his feet
