Two words, Shalebridge Cradle.
Two words, Shalebridge Cradle.
Enlighten me
Thief: Deadly Shadows had a rather creepy and tense level based around an abandoned orphanage/asylum. "...I can here you breathing. Nobody does that in the Cradle anymore..." That little girl's voice was both unsettling and somewhat calming, as if you weren't alone and were not alone...
The Allosaurus from the Carnivores series. I mostly hunted Herbivores, to cut down on carnivores like Velociraptor or the dreaded Ceratosaurus. However, even with density on low, I have used the Crossbow multiple times and seen an Allosaurus in the distance. Luckily, they won't continuously charge you from one end of the island to the other like T. Rex, but they were fast bastards. As a kid, they scared the urine out of me when I turned around, only to be pounced by one of them. Even today, I'm still wary about where I tread.
Whenever Death came around in Gauntlet Dark Legacy, I would freak out.
I used to have one of those encyclopaedic cds based on that really popular set of children's encyclopaedias whose name currently escapes my mind, [sp]I remember the logo was a red DK over a book though[/sp]. Anyway, I had the one about dinosaurs and on the second disc there were several safariesque walkabout scenes depicting several dinosaurs, I picked the one about Tyrannosaurs and Velociraptors. What scared me about this was that they were in first person perspective, and having spent the first several years of childhood playing Turok 2 and watching Jurassic Park endlessly I was absolutely scared shitless that if I was seen by the tyrannosaur I'd be torn apart. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] I never actually managed to see any of the other walkabouts and have no idea where the discs are now so I can't check.

By the way the map with the lava temple had these creepy whisperings and such, I never much thought about it but I do wonder why the hell it's there
Whenever Death came around in Gauntlet Dark Legacy, I would freak out.
one time the level-stealing death got me, i was too angry to be scared
Whenever Death came around in Gauntlet Dark Legacy, I would freak out.
Whenever Death came around in Grabbed by the Ghoulies I was scared shitless.
When I hit one of them with the wrench I damn near pissed myself.
and why do they bleed?
and why do they bleed?
[sp]Because they aren't plastic. They're a really hard type of splicer that jumps at you out of nowhere[/sp]
[sp]Because they aren't plastic. They're a really hard type of splicer that jumps at you out of nowhere[/sp]
[sp]im pretty sure it's because they're just splicers cohen gathered up, and drowned them in plaster. also barely any of the splicers actually masquerade as plasters, only when you're almost done in fort frolic if i remember correctly. might be wrong on these parts, it's been a while since ive played bioshock.[/sp]
Heart of Darkness for the PSX (Shit, this game was rated E)
more funny then scary, reminds of Abe's Odyssey.
I used to be too scared to play this level. Fuck, I hated being chased.
Oh man, there was this one game on the BBC doctor who website that terrified me when I was younger... [sp]Dont laugh.[/sp] You had to use a map to detect ghost signatures around london, and then it goes into an FPS kinda thing where you scan for ghosts, then you find them and record them, until they fucking turn into cybermen when you're really close to them and they start fucking charging at you and shit, and the screen comes up with an error sign thing you see on TV with all the lines of colours, and you hear screaming...my young mind was not ready.
The last level of Megaman Legends. I dunno why, it's still scary on some parts :( [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] the whole game was creepy when you went in those underground ruins
Not necessarily scary, but jesus fuck this moment in dead space 2 was intense as fuck. Spoilers obviously
What I wanna know is why the hell does the needle move SO SLOWLY. Seriously, put it in, take out out. Like a shot. Stupid scifi machinery trying to be all intimidating.

No idea if this has been mentioned or, or if anyone feels the same, but Theme Hospital It was one of the first PC games I played, and even though it was (and still is) amazing, I was fucking terrified by some parts. This is the intro cutscene Ok...that ending was a bit creepy...I hope the rest of the game isn't l- OH GOD! Even some of the music was a bit creepy Emergencies creeped me out as well, one time a load of my doctor's just went crazy so they went to the staff room and I just had to watch a load of patients drop down dead.
I've never played Dead Space 2 so I want to know, why is he hooked up to the machine if the first place?
Basically, the apparition of Nicole which you see in the video tells isaac that he'll have to use the machine in order to be able to destroy the marker (The big monolith-thing that caused all of the crazy stuff to happen).
Nightmare Ned. That is all.
First time I encountered snorks in SoC I screamed out loud. I think the first time I encountered a bloodsucker I did too. Those laboratories have some wicked atmosphere. Pretty sure I had some good jumps from splicers in Bioshock, too.
Enlighten me
Here's the whole walkthrough of Shalebridge Crade from Thief 3. After the video just click part 3 and then part 4 etc.. no need to tag them all to my post.
The only thing i can think of is when you're being chased by a monster in amnesia or one is SO CLOSE to finding you... I dont know why, but video games usually never scare me. (unless its a cheap jump scare.)
I don't have a picture, But theres this one CS:S playermade gamemode where you fight AI with knives and zombie playermodels. And some rounds have giant poison headcrab enemys. I swear whenever one run towards me i shut down the game.
I've never played Dead Space 2 so I want to know, why is he hooked up to the machine if the first place?
Apparently secrets to the current Macguffin making all the zeds exist in two guys' eyes, and the first guy went insane and got a screwdriver jammed in his. Therefore, Isaac's the only one left. Oh, and shortly after this happens, the Ubermorph (that 'morph who regenerates instantly) is on the loose and you can't find a way to get rid of him.

Your first question is: Who built this Your second question is: What do the hieroglyphs mean? Your final question is: Who the FUCK is talking???
Isn't that how they made L4D?
I think they actually said that L4D was more inspired by just having Players with guns vs. Bots with knives in CSS, which proved to be surprisingly fun at the time. Could have been inspired by the zombie mods as well, though.
