Whenever I heard or saw one, I just went "NOPE" and spammed explosives.
I know this thread is supposed to be about things that scare you in games, but I have a question. Are there any games that similar to Seaman in the sense that you can talk to the on-screen characters with a mic?

I've heard of the N64 game called "Hey You, Pikachu" but it's, of course, pokemon themed and not that interesting, since the voice recognition tech back then was ASSSSSS(!!!!11!11wunoneeleven) it wasn't very responsive.
Other than that, I have no idea.
@topic
SHODAN from System Shock 1 (not 2 because she looks rather generic these days) especially the floppy version or cd version with speech turned off.
You're probably expecting a image but i'll just let you google it. Because i'm lazy
just today, when I was playing KOTOR, at Leviathan there's room with this Assault droid. you can activate him to kill the soldiers (you'll have to face him too, and he's really tough) OR leave him be. So i left him, done some jedi buisness later in that level, and on the way back, after defeating tons of siths, there was nobody alive, I was just standing and going to click inventory button, SUDDENLY the driod run to me at huge speed and turned off near me, leaving message in top left corner that he does not respond to me. It scared the shit out of me, as he's really big and I knew I didn't activate him.

I'd recommend you don't google this game.
Yume Nikki could use a Megathread, I'd love to see what kind of theories FP could come up with after playing the game some, seeing as how 90% of what the game is actually about is basically allegory.
I'm 40% sure there already is a Yume Nikki megathread buried beneath the first page, it's too much of a cult game not to have one.

You can?!
So Seaman is basically LSD on steroids??
Holy shit I GOTTA try it!
Well, how should I put it, Seaman is a little odd. He's got problems y'know?
Seaman is moreof a Tamagotchi addicted to the mentioned "Dream Emulator".

Everything in this game is just... Woah.
In response to my earlier post, this is what the hunt for the Great Slaughterfish is like.

Better image of the locale. You can just barely see my puny little elf on the right there.

Visibility in the water.
I'm too scared to actually find it. I had to use the TFC (flying camera) cheat to take that underwater picture. :tinfoil:
Oh crap, I didn't see that mudcrab when I was taking the pictures. :tinfoil:
Please ignore the fact that my character is a "kawaii space elf", to quote Tali.
Edit: What the flying fuck? I just suddenly heard a REALLY loud groaning noise with a music box playing in the background over my headphones. It stopped when I closed the browser. I hadn't opened any programs or tabs. My sanity meter is dropping here, folks.

There is a game called "Hey you Pikachu" for the n64.
There is also this weird PS2 game when you control a girl by saying "Go right" or "Go left" I dont think they sell it anymore though

A slight headache.
The atmosphere of Vault 22 in FONV was just creepy. The constant whispering sounds, the deformed mutants crawling out of small patches of plants, the sign in front of the Vault that sets the mood perfectly... ergh.
People who don't get scared at Amnesia are the kind of fuck-nuggets who think DeadSpace was "A brilliant masterpiece of horror, as though it were written by Stanely Kubrick"
Seriously, shove it up your ass. Amnesia is scary. Scary isn't turning around and having a monster scream really really loud, it's not a guy getting his entrails ripped out, and it most definitely isn't extreme.
It's a subtle art that requires your imagination to do the work. Monsters in Amnesia are scary because you have no clue what they look like, no clue how easily they can kill you, and what the penalty is if you die. And you know what, you most certainly don't want to find out.
But unimaginative people don't have that fear of letting there imagination run wild, creating all sorts of terrifying imagery. They don't think "there might be a monster behind me but I don't want to check because it will piss him off more," they're the kind who go "oh a monster. lemme kill it!"
Case in point, anyone who thinks Doom3 is scary. "Ohhhh its dark and stuff and-BLARRRRGGGG monster!"
In Amnesia, the monsters don't always come and get you, but you just know it will.

Speak for yourself, I really don't find any games scary, not even your beloved Amnesia.
I played the amnesia demo. It wasn't bad, but please tell me that the water in the water part is opaque in the actual game. When I can see to the bottom, and see that there's nothing making those splashes, it kinda ruins the immersion.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be something invisible.
Can' believe anyone said these...
Penumbra Overture: Dark, small, spider tunnels, Nuffield said
Penumbra Blqck Plague: In the computer room, I was standing right in front of the damn door (if you have played, you know what I'm saying)
FEAR PM (3rd instalment in the fear series): You find a body down an out of the way ally, turn around an BAM, Paxton shows up, I jumped a mile
What the hell, these just creeped me out
Penumbra Overture: Ending
Fallout 3: The hallucinations in this one vault
Half Life 2: The one hidden body who shot themselves
FEAR 2: Damn ghost things in the school and hospital, they kept respawning, just, uhhhg
Alright, everything Frictional Games made creep the shit out of me, both Penumbra and Amnesia!
Playing Duke 3D, meeting the octabrains..
Jesus fuck..

Either way, you will die.
Am I the only one who has this fucked up theory that since Daniel is batshit insane, he might be just imagining ALL the monsters? I mean if you're insane enough, you'll also feel severe placebo effect, maybe he imagined so much pain he passes out after "dying" and drags himself somewhere else and wakes up with the figment of his imagination still hunting him down?
Not always.
I remember when I broke the lock in the prison, the monster made me panic and run into him and I died.
He was still wandering around, and the lock was still broken when I got back to the gate.
I really need to play Amnesia or Penumbra
I don't really find any games scary.
In Doom 3, the only kind of scary part is the beginning, and I didn't even get scared while play FEAR.
I'll admit that Fallout 3 did get kind of scary when your exploring places like the school, and some of the vaults.
The only game to truly scare the crap out of me so far is STALKER.
Heh Doom 3 has a few jump scares throughout. I thought Doom 3 was pretty funny to play actually.
"Civilians are working down here-" *plink* "-don't get excited and shoot 'em." - "Whoopsie"

Your the guy I was replying too earlier with this post.
Seriously, I know I'm praising it alot and I don't mind if your not scared of it, just don't act like a douche and pretend that makes you some manly, Chuck Norris, tough guy.
And yes, Amnesia is just "Blarg scary monster" but at least it builds it. In most games they just pop up with little to no tension to catch you off guard. In Amnesia your always preparing for it, yet when it happens it always seems like you didn't prepare enough.
Lavender Town on Pokemon Green 1.0. Oh My God..

Are you referring to Lifeline, perhaps?

I played it. The voice recognition sucked almost as bad as Hey You Pikachu's did.

When did I say Amnesia wasn't scary?
I've never even played the game.
I'm just sick of people bashing others for thinking Dead Space is scary and telling them to play Amnesia, "and record it".

Oh, well then I guess it was another guy who posted it. Sorry. Your avatar just looked familiar, that's all.
I just get frustrated when people act all big tough and manly just because "Amnesia wasn't scary"
DeadSpace actually did have a really scary moment, by the way. It was early in the game and your riding some sort of lift or tram across a huge chasm. Suddenly you see the opposite dock to which you are heading. It is shrouded in mist. Then you see several figures darting through the mist as you anxiously anticipate what is going to happen to you.
If the entire game was like that, it would've been (probably) scarier than Amnesia. But instead they opted for cheap jump scares.
Edit:
Also, you should try and play Amnesia some time. I don't know if you'll like it or not, but as long as you understand that thinking it un-scary doesn't make you some kind of brutally awesome beast person than that's fine with me.
