On the contrary I thought they were freaking amazing awesome creatures, and yet I was the one who flipped out from the cheat code that turned the game into something like Half-Mind.
Okay bear with me can't seem to find video's but it was a cheat code that turned most of the game into acid roadtrip.
Things like making black cat do a strip dance in her cage or the doc ock fight having pictures of gay bows and happy colourful crap.
It was like my game had transformed into a parody I literally shat bricks

Found it, there was heaps more crap including one level being replaced with riding a blimb while the newsman yells at you for being a menace

Didnt help that i was playing on Zealot, and Blind... It wasnt a good experiance. Also made me paranoid as fuck because they can take most/if not all of your health.

not scary, but I remember if you typed a curse into the cheatcodes (Fuck, Shit, Penis, etc...) Instead of it disappearing, Spiderman would pop up and punch it.

Oh my god I remember playing that. Our PS1 disc of this has an emulator on, and checking the codes I one called 'What if? mode'. Turned it on. Saw this. Hilarity ensued.
The Crawler from Fable 3.
1.) He's just like a shadow.
2.) You hear him out of frickin' nowhere. Scared the shit out of me my first play through.

How can you be scared when you are literally invincible?
Was genuinely creeped out at the end of DXHR, right before the final boss.
Reloading slowly when an enemy is sprinting at you
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I simply love the music though.

My sister was so afraid of him she begged me to play the game for her to get past that bit.

HNNNNG NOSTALGIA
Damn it, now I feel an insufferable need to play that awesome Rayman 3 level where Groove Armada was playing in the background.
That game was boss.
You guys are pathetic for getting scared over pixels in games and I think

THE SOUNDS, THE SOUNDS IT MAKES WHEN IT DESCENDS UPON YOU, ENVELOPING EVERYTHING IN ITS SWOOSHING, OMINOUS SHADOW.
Also I gotta admit, the ReDeads in Wind Waker were pretty fucking scary. As a kid I tried to kill them from a distance using everything. Bombs, arrows, you name it. Not only did it not harm them in the least, they would ominously turn to stare at you for a few seconds with those dark, vacant eyes everytime I tried.

God damn redeads, man.
You know what scared the hell out of me in The Sims? This.
Imagine being 7 or 8 years old, playing at in the dead of night with nothing but the glow of the computer screen lighting the room, and your sims are just sleeping away then BAM a burglar appears and that plays. Scared the absolute crap out of me.
What was worse that it played for getting fired (as shown in video) and when the raccoon (in Unleashed) appears as well. The latter was a pain in the arse, because it would happen without an alert or anything, so you'd be scanning the lot frantically wondering what the hell that was.
In fact, any music in the Sims that was remotely negative was frightening or spooky to a degree. Like when cockroaches appeared; a subtle, yet chilling sound.
Holy shit i remember this. I used to minimize the game and turn the volume whenever my sims went to bed because it was so scary
Holy shit i remember this. I used to minimize the game and turn the volume whenever my sims went to bed because it was so scary
And then when you opened the game back up your plasma tv would be missing and your stove would be on fire.

Well, it's a japanese game, so it may be hard to find, plus, I have an emulator :/

Ah, yes, sliding down some green slime as a row of teeth literally show up behind you.
That, and the fight with the constipated cyclops.
"HHGGGGRRRRRNNNNNNNNNGH!"
Not sure if it has been posted before, but this part scared the fuck out of me.

Sound was a lot louder when I was playing it, though.

I think when you died in SW:SotE, this screen appeared, or something similar.
I fucking love that game.

could you get a shot of the proper "Death Screen" or whatever? I can't find my Composite cables for my n64
What pops up when you die
yeah. maybe it was the game over screen cause i think it came up when you lost all your lives. I don't remember as i havent played sw:sote in forever

Carnivores was one of the most terrfying games I have ever played. It wasn't a very popular game, so if you haven't heard of it, it was a hunting sim from the 90's where you hunted dinosaurs. You are stalking on a quiet islands (no music, just wind and crickets ect) looking for a stegosaurus or another peacefull giant, when out of nowhere an allosaurus/velociraptor/T. rex roars and leaps on you from behind, immobilizing you instantly and eating you alive. As fun as the game was, I played it in constant fear of those footsteps behind me. I still hear the roars when I'm in the woods or the park on a quiet day.
Grr, image has messed up. Pretty obscure game, struggling to find ingame media for it.

When you first legitimately run into the Redeads for the first time in the Shadow Temple and all further encounters, I never even got near them unless the game forced you to.
I killed them using the Tingle Tuner. Tingle's Bombs can injure and kill the Redead, unlike Link's weapons

When I first came across these guys I was terrified, and then I realised they were weak as shit, but I'd still jump a mile when they attacked me.
