Because it's Mortal Kombat. The previous games were kinda tame compared to this. But personally, i'm looking at the old-style gameplay. None of the fist+weapon bullshit of Deadly Alliance and Armageddon, none of the sometimes-awkward 3D movement. Just old-school, side-to-side, over-the-top fighting gameplay brought up to date while being able to make any Mortal Kombat fan piss their pants in glee.
