if you want to get genuinely good at fighting games you must learn a few things:
1) DO NOT EVER practice or play against the computer expecting to get better. all it will do is breed bad habits and strategies that will get you owned in a real match.
2) play against someone better than you as much as you can. playing a 20-game set against one guy and asking him about what he's doing right (or what you're doing wrong) will improve your game hugely.
3) try to get some local games in. online is cool and all but lag and the wildly varied level of skill will make it very difficult for you. find someone decently skilled and play a whole bunch of versus against them.
4) do not blame 'cheap', 'overpowered', 'lucky' or 'dishonourable' moves. learn to deal with these moves and the players that spam them will pose 0 challenge to you.
#4 is the biggest tip out of those, I think. Everyone complains about someone spamming moves against you, but in reality it's you that is the problem.

I hated those before, but now we've even been given an easy as fuck combo-breaker move so anyone even thinking of complaining about overpowered moves(especially combos, which you shouldn't complain about because executing the sick ones is hard as fuck anyway) should just stop right there.
I'll use teleport as often as I want and if you don't like the chains shooting out of my hands you should learn to block.

And then you fight people who spam Sheeva's and Noob's "down up" move. :sigh:

Am I still the problem if my friend can sweep a team of me and another friend if that's all he does? :sigh:

Yes, jesus learn to fucking block.
Blocking doesn't work against Sheeva, which is what he used :colbert:
Blocking doesn't work against Sheeva, which is what he used :colbert:
Cause, you know, it is so hard to jump out of the way.
Sheeva's ground smash move is the easiest attack to dodge
Some people's timing isn't the best, and it doesn't have a predefined spot to land until she appears on the screen, so you have to move when she appears and not when she jumps.
Blocking doesn't work against Sheeva, which is what he used :colbert:
block/dodge :)
if you see her prepping for the jump you can jump and punch her out of the air
I may very well just go to GameStop tomorrow, trade by PS3 copy in and ask if they can cut me a deal on a 360 copy since I bought MK the day PSN went down. I am so pissed I cannot play this online. I don't give a shit if I need to replay the story mode and 200 levels of the Challenge Tower. I want to PLAY.

Practice mode is extremely important in fighting games especially in a game like this where one combo can do 50%
How to win in arcade tower:
Front punch spam like a bitch

you forgot number 5
5) spend time in the lab 5 hours a day.
So I fucking love Johnny Cage.
I do agree with some of the points above. Playing against Bots and playing against legitimate players are two completely different things. It's almost like playing a completely different video game. I do believe, however, if you can conquer Bots on the harder difficulties, you can probably take on at least some human players.

that's a nasty move online because jumping out the way and uppercutting requires good timing. with lag it's almost unstoppable. but just learn to deal w/ it!
Practice mode is extremely important in fighting games especially in a game like this where one combo can do 50%
well yeah, but that's not against the computer. learning a few combos is VERY important, you need to know what you can use to punish a blocked or whiffed move.
I hate Reptile.
All he does is jumping backwards and either spitting or magically summons this green stuff like it's his fucking job.
Also, Kung Lao is actually pretty awesome.
wow what the actual fuck, I was doing tag ladder on beginner for some easy coins and then 1 round jade had a flawless on me, next round she was back to normal. This was as Ermac
I've stopped playing since I've hit the last mission

Story

Backtrack from Shao Kahn, then teleport to him when he starts taunting you. Then uppercut him, repeat. That's how I won him. :v:
I've tried, it always ends up being so close then he slams me or something

Coming to PC too? That shit better have online multiplayer in it or I might kill somebody.
It does? Excellent......
Wait, is the PC version coming on steam?
I've tried, it always ends up being so close then he slams me or something
He doesn't just 'slam' you.
He waits, even though you're both fully aware that he is capable of an x-ray attack dealing 52% damage, he doesn't use it, he lets you keep on fighting, feeding your unwaranted hope of winning. When you're oh so motherfucking close to beating him, as he is to beating you(for the hundredth time)
Your heart is pounding like crazy and you dare not even breath of fear that the airflow will trigger a desire to scratch your nose, something that can only lead to disaster in your mind but in reality what kills you is the fear of having to scratch something.
He throws the faggothammer, you teleport and dodge the hammer in the process, your mind is filled with undisputed euphoria as you apply pressure on the downarrow button followed by a perfectly executed press on the triangle button resulting in a finishing blow to your realms mortal enemy.
You miss. Why? I have no fucking clue, but whenever the fights outcome depends on a teleport there is a rule- an unavoidable rule: Your teleport will for unknown fucking reasons land you too far behind him to hit him with an uppercut.
Fuck that shit, another faggothammerthrow another try you think to yourself, relieved that you still have enough hp left to survive a single fuck up on your part, better teleport out of here you reflect as he prepare to smash your skull in with his hammer- Sucess! you're now situated right next to Shau Kahns buttocks, you try another uppercut but to no avail he instantly kicks your face in with the heel of his trendy sandals, sending your flying back trough the soon to be destroyed earth's atmosphere AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT FOR FAILING EARTHREALMS!
But wait, you're not dead, you still have a chance smaller than a pubescent dick at beating this asshole. you do 3 backflips as soon as your controller starts responding again, heart starting to pound like crazy again, "One more hit" You beg to the god you have never believed in.
"Katana!!!" He says and throws a spear at you, you grab this golden chance and teleport behind him and attempt to execute the fastest combo you can come up with to kill him once and for all. Your finger slips, you abandon all hope and prepare to meet your maker.
He pounds out with his arms for you-

But killing you isn't enough for the new alien overlord that you for one should have welcomed, no.
Not enough.
Shau Kahn has decided that the most appropriate time to use his x-ray move which as previously mentioned drains a fantastically ballanced amount of 52%of your total hp is now. You now have to wait another twenty second watching every bone in your body get mauled by the only fictional character you have ever felt true, pure hate and absolute disgust for before-

This...a thousand times this.
I cant imagine how long it took me to finish him in story, and then arcade as quan chi...
Was he on steroids in story mode?
So this is how cool the people at my GameStop are.
I bring in MK, tell them I got screwed, they take my PS3 copy as a standard trade in but give me 50% off of the 360 copy after the price of the trade is taken off.
Kick ass. Now I just need to play the story mode over again.
Ugh, unskippable cut scenes.
