I think most of the good guys died in Deadly Alliance.
And besides, nobody really stays dead in Mortal Kombat.
They already did a zombie character, so I won't be so surprised

I don't even know how you can think that MK could keep itself from utilizing silly plot twists, especially since the game that hit the reset button itself features time travel and[sp]90% of the cast getting killed off by a fairly minor character who gets powered up and acts exactly like an old-school Power Rangers villain.[/sp]
I liked the MK story even if everybody died.
I don't see what's wrong with everybody dying. Everybody died at the beginning of Deception/the end of Deadly Alliance, and that was actually pretty good because it conveyed that Mortal Kombat wasn't a story of heroics, and that the villains were nothing to sneeze at. They were resurrected over the course of the events of Deception and were restored to their former glory by Ermac, with the exception of Liu Kang who became a fucked up zombie.
I don't see why they can't just do the same thing. Ermac has already been introduced, they just need him to become a good guy and there you go.

No, he becomes the King of Edenia and becomes a good guy and shit. At least in his ending he does. In the original series I think he just becomes aimless and is eventually converted to good.
He's the collection of a bunch of souls collected by Shang Tsuang, isn't he? If he didn't go crazy when Shang died then he's independent.
Why is everyone keep relating things to a squeal that doesn't exist/will never exist, considering MK9 before midway got bankrupted, they said that would be the last game in the MK series.
Wait MK9's the last MK game? I find that hard to believe if NRS or WB decided to stop the MK series.

It's not, that would be stupid. They made MK9 AFTER they went bankrupt. They formed Netherrealm Studios and have started on a whole new series of MK games. Ed Boon himself confirmed that they have their writers working on the next MK game. Why would they keep making DLC and new characters but not have the resources to work on a new game? Why would they ever stop making DLC characters if they were never going to make another MK game?

Have any source where they said it would be the last MK game? I'm pretty sure I've seen tweets of ed boon where he said that the writers are working on the next mk game when people asked him if there was any story-related dlc.
