Yesterday I was reminded that SR3 came out soon so went to my wishlist to preorder it, clicked on it and "Oops"... now its come clear... I was going to preorder BF3 from Game but fuck them.

why do game think that preventing people from buying games on steam is going to increase their sales when much better outlets like Amazon/Play.com/most other retailers exist game is shite

Because Steam has big numbers behind it. They hold a huge portion of the online market and the worst thing is (from what we can see at least) Valve are pretty fair about it. Business wise this probably creates quite a few headaches for companies and investors.

What a bunch of dicks, I guess someone is mad that they are not selling their "in the back of the store" PC games.

For the longest time (ie months and months ago) you could preorder from Game, Amazon and so on, but the store page on Steam didn't have an option to buy. The Steam preorder was added relatively late, like just a few months ago. Part of the reason I preordered from Amazon UK instead of Steam way back in February was because Steam didn't have the option to buy it. (the other reason was that I wanted a physical copy of the case, artbook and so on)

Heck they do it even before they known the games proper release date (DNF is a perfect example of this). The publisher putting it on Steam is them effectively confirming the release.
