How does one board troops onto ships?
You have to move the ship into the bay, then select the soldiers and just order them to move into the bay. Then, when you want them to disembark, there's a special troop selection button attached to the ship unit's tab.
Also, in my Hindustan game, Persia has reached from India all the way over to, like, Hungary. It's getting out of control. Ming has done almost the same from Asia, and it's 15-something.
Also also, in my other game, with France, we've finally became an empire, in 146-something. Which, I guess is great because I get all these subjugation casus bellis, but my infamy is rocketing upwards at an alarming rate and even the highest level advisor can't even bring it to a standstill.
Incredibly worried about Castille.

Fuck shit up Bro
Real annoying you can't move troops into ships while they're remaining in port. I tend to forget that often and end up spending more time hauling the ships back into the coast and loading troops onto the ships sometimes.
It sort of makes sense in the later game, seeing as armies were moved by smaller boats to larger vessels off the coast, more efficient and less time consuming than building a dock for each individual ship.

The problem is that in Victoria 2 and HOI 3 you can board an army on a docking ship, so people who are used to do that from those games get annoyed when you can't do that in EUIII.
It is extremely annoying yes.
But it does make sense.
They should just make it like HOI
SO MUCH EASIER
I thought it was really easy to begin with, takes 2 clicks and about 2 seconds at 3x speed to go from dock to open water. I was kinda confused at first but its simple to get used to
How do I repair ships anyways?
I have like 50% damage on a small fleet and I want to repair them.

Put them into a Port, They'll automatically heal every month.

...Pretty much all of Germany, including Austria and Switzerland just declared war on me. I was fighting a war against Pisa, who was excommunicated, and then the Polish joined in on their side so after I was done sacking Siena and Pisa I marched over there and took care of them, and everyone decided with my 60+ infamy to declare war.
It actually didn't go too badly. I got a lot of new provinces/vassals, and now I've gotten peace with most of the major powers. I just need to rebuild my army, crush the minor german states still pestering me, and then lay low for a while.
--
I take that back. Game over, man!
Savoy and Portugal occupied most of my provinces and I can't raise a good enough standing army. My vassals are trying their hardest, but to no avail. What do you guys do when your game is going really badly? Just take whatever hits you can till you're no longer a nation, or restart, or reload a save?
When things start to go badly I reload from a eariler save so I can attempt to reverse what I did wrong.
Put them into a Port, They'll automatically heal every month.
You can leave your ships outside of a port too and the ships will gradually repair over time. Just not as efficient as leaving them in port.

Before I even go no longer a nation and somethings pissing me off, I do this.
Save, Go to your savegame, don't enter as your state but as the enemy leader and offer tributes of every money you have as this enemy province, allow vassalation or anything to help your original nation, after getting it accepted you should save, go back to your original nation.

Merci, I think I'm going to reload to before the Pisan Excommunication war and try to develop better border defenses.

Better yet and easier, ALT+21, tag (their three letter nation code here), do all of that, and tag back to yours
Even better if you type infamy 1000 while you're playing as them, watch them fall apart forever.
I wish I had the Patience to play these kind of games.
Just find some inspiration to roleplay and such,
Like playing from a monarch's point of view, not some all knowing overseer
King Duarte dies after more than twenty years of ruling, god rest his soul.

Fast forward a bit to a few years later, the colonization in Beothuk is complete and a new colony in Tagamuk is starting up and another one coming to Innu across the Belle straight, there's two colonies in modern-day Brazil as well.

Rebel scum! After the disastrous yet stupidly brave engagement against the French onslaught at Languedoc, 4, 000 rebels take their chances and rise up to arms in the Baleares with little to no opposition. With the Guarda Real chopped up and broken another force in Africa hasty assembles a expedition force of only 3, 000, however leaderless and inferior lack of numbers the army is soundly repelled and sails back to Valéncia.

Goddamnit. I think I'm just going to play as Hindustan again.
The same thing happened after a save, except I WON the war, and vassalized pretty much all of eastern Europe except Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland, and Savoy.
I SPENT TEN YEARS FIGHTING REBELS, THEN GOT ATTACKED BY EVERYONE AGAIN.
I give up.
I.. I.. just wanted to make France great...
:suicide:
So ends the reign of Louis XVIII, may god rest his soul.
I still can't find my screenshots that I have taken, I've searched every folder in my EU3 directory. There is no screenshots folder.
Anyways it is 1550 something and I have united Scandinavia as an Empire, 5 star econ, diplo, and military. Am allied with fellow superpower france, france is really fucking powerful in my game right now, especially considering it is allied with myself, and castille, and completely controls the HRE(which i am also in).
I am really glad me and france are bros because it would suck to be on it's bad side!
But anyways, I own all of scandi, as well as eastern canada and I am slowly colonising more into america. Have a few random african and south american colonies as well.
I'll just post prntscreen shots

Here is the current situation in europe. France has been slowly getting larger and more powerful. So have I. I recently united into scandinavia. I started off as denmark in 1399. I wanted to just inherit norway and scandinavia but they both ended up betraying me so I annexed them over the course of the 15th century.
Here is the situation of the HRE

France is the current emperor and EVERY single elector is backing france. WOW
Here is a pic of my holdings in america

Oh man, a French led HRE that spans to include Scandinavia. That's scary.

Mind uploading your save?
Does DW make the game any easier to learn? I am really into Victoria 2 and found that much easier to get into but this one is more hard for me.
Mind uploading your save?
I would but I honestly don't know where my save games are located. I check in the save games folder in the EU3 directory but there is nothing there.
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
Also very interesting, Hungary is getting quite huge. They have all of Hungary, the balkans, and they have spread to include all of turkey. But they keep getting there ass kicked in European affairs and haven't been involved in anything major for the last 3/4 century. About 100 years ago in my save Hungary was on it's way to the top with majority control of HRE and me as it's closest ally, but after a long series of peasant revolutions and half of hungary revolted, they lost HRE to france and since then have just been expanding eastward. Very interesting turn of events. They are still pretty powerful however, so they could be a prominent force.
Weird, you positive there is no such folder in \common\europa universalis iii\save games or any other place you saved it to?
Alright I did a more extensive search and apparently there is an entire other directory section that some of the EU3 files are located. Also found my screenshots as well!
Here is the official screen map of what I have.

Divine Wind does add some more interesting perks for doing well in games. In a sense making it easier, but it really doesn't change too much unless you play as China or Japan.
HttT was a much more encompassing expansion to the game play to be fair.
I decided to play the Emirate of Granada for a little change of scenery and omg it has been so fun so far, especially watching all the European stuff centered around the papacy and HRE. Muslim Reconquista of Spain is going very well except for I have no missionaries (-10 per year atm) so it is mostly all Catholic still as I try to change my sliders :(

Does anyone know what would happen if a Muslim nation was to conquer the Vatican/Papal States and convert them?
If you own the religous center of a religion that is not yours you get all sorts of effects like +10 missionaries and +40% tax in that province and stuff
Hey guys, who would I edit a nation's religion in a save file? Just force released bryzantium from some crazy huge bohemia and I want them to be orthodox (they're Sunni...).
Open up the save file you want to use (should be europa/save games in notepad, always nice to backup first of course!) and then scroll to the bottom of the entire thing, assuming that the three letter nation code is BYZ just do an upwards search for BYZ= and it should take you to something that looks like this for me in Eastern Tales:
BYZ=
{
history=
{
government=imperial_government
aristocracy_plutocracy=-3
centralization_decentralization=-1
innovative_narrowminded=2
mercantilism_freetrade=-3
offensive_defensive=0
land_naval=1
quality_quantity=-1
serfdom_freesubjects=-2
primary_culture=greek
religion=orthodox
technology_group=eastern
historical_friend="SER"
historical_friend="KIV"
historical_friend="KHZ"
historical_friend="GMV"
historical_friend="GBG"
capital=151
And you should be able to just change the "religion=sunni" to orthodox from there
