Also, am I the only one who doesn't give a shit about colonizing and that stuff? I focus mainly on my country and it's neighbours.
Colonizing is good if you want more territories but don't want to go to war over them, it's also a very easy way to get territories with rare trade resources like spices, etc.
Okay, can someone explain something to me? I'm playing as Burgundy, and I was elected emperor (woohoo, fuck you bohemia/austria) but for some reason I gained six or seven provinces without doing anything. Which I suppose wouldn't be a bad thing, but it gave me Estland, all the way over in Sweden, which you can probably bet is a little difficult to maintain from western europe.
Anyone have any ideas?
See if you can give it independence (release a vassal) or just sell it to someone, it's really more pain than gain to keep it.
I wish I still had HTTT installed rather than divine wind so I could play that eastern tales mod.
It's standalone, so you don't have to install HTTT in order to play it.
how come the ai doesn't give a shit about where it takes territories? It makes the ugliest looking map ever

How exactly do you get maps like that?
F12 ingame takes a picture like that of your current world, F11 takes a regular screenshot
Ah, danke. I'm surprised I hadn't figured that out already.
Does anyone else much prefer the European nations over the eastern ones, like Asia and India? There's just so much going on, and not enough over there. Although I suppose I'm biased, considering I am of european culture.
No, you're right. The game focuses on shit going down in Europe. Other regions are an afterthought.
I have never played a mostly trade nation for some reason. I have never played the hansa or denmark or anything, I play mostly militarily. Should I try a trade based nation?
Dammit, I want HTTT for the Eastern Tales mod, but I don't have enough in my Paypal. Is it really that good?

[sp]Pirate it now and pay for it when you get the money, it's a 15MB download.[/sp]
Yes, it's that good. Changes a lot and adds a lot as well. It's a must-have. HttT, I mean.

It is called Europa Universalis after all

Fuck that, i declare war on what i want, no exceptions.
How do you install Eastern Tales exactly?
How do you install Eastern Tales exactly?
Unpack everything in the folder inside the zip to your /Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis III/ folder so that it overrides a lot of files (over 700, I believe?).
I just unzipped the folder and it worked, I think it gives everything required to play the game lol
Current situation of the Great Goguryeo Kingdom (362 AD) ruled by Queen Hyohye I Yi!

Cao Wei (dark red) lost everything and went from major power to small power after being warred on by literally every nation/peoples east of the Ural mountains. I am also taking it upon myself to restore the Han Dynasty which is in Purple and didn't exist until they were released from Cao Wei as a single province. (there is still a lot that goes on in Asia even though it is EU3)
Fuck, I am such an idiot. I bet you weren't supposed to override anything, just keep it all in the Eastern Tales folder, right?
Fuck, I am such an idiot. I bet you weren't supposed to override anything, just keep it all in the Eastern Tales folder, right?
No, I think you were right. I couldn't select "Eastern Tales" as a mod to run with. Let's see what happens now when I start the game. (I've overwritten everything)
EDIT: Fuck, it just crashes once it starts to load the last thing.
It's a stand-alone mod, don't overwrite anything just try running it right after unzipping it (I run it from a folder on my desktop while HTTT is installed in steam, doesn't make a difference)
Thanks to Fray, I have the knowledge to show you the absolute power of the Portugal empire in the 1490's

Needless to say, Castille got fucked over, half of their provinces are slipping through their hands and becoming my cores, England and france are fucking over Aragon but not me, (I'm their ally) And that I basically secured my North American Seat throne, In which I plan to move my capital. there once all the cores become available.
Whoa, crazy colonization you got going on there. Do holdings like those get labeled as "Portugese North America" or "Portugese Africa" or something?

I fucked up. Looks like I'll have to reinstall, which is okay.
Nope, not like Victoria 2 sadly.
But it is hilarious, I love engaging the wars against Huron, Iroquois and Creek. When I arrived and contact Iroquois I slowly saw Huron engulf them, In which I unsuccessfully tried to take their lands (They took one of mine.) and Creek taking two.
I looked down at Creek and with a "Fuck You" I got a 10,000 Men at Arms army and took their lands, making peace with Huron who I engulfed 7 years later with the might of 5 10,000 armies.
This isn't the 16th century like I said before, It's only a 1475 (Now 1484).
Along with this, a in-game month later after I posted this map, Castille got annexed by England :v: although I might need to watch out for my allies since Aragon is pretty weak and ripe for the taking and I don't want any more land lost.
Also, I remember trying to convert Alabama, They converted a DAY after I sent the missionary :v:
Switzerland before being randomly attacked by Ulm (a.k.a. 250 years of peace):
Is it only for me that this game is like most other new Paradox Interactive games? (Really Buggy)
I've got all the expansions and the latest patches, but at some events it just stops responding.
I don't find it buggy at all personally. But there was this one time I was at peace finally for once, when out of nowhere Castille & England called me to arms. Which is funny because I'm allied with the both of them and have royal marriages too. I accepted the English's which unfortunately canceled my military alliance with the latter. Before any bloodshed could be spilled I quickly white peaced the Spanish and resumed peace.
But what's weird is just a few days after that, Castille again called me to arms but this time to finish off Aragon. I'm not even the Defender of the Faith, nor am I currently allied with them at all but I accepted anyway so I could gain a certain province of theirs.
England was rolling the Spanish over with a doom stick stack until it got vaporised I think, Aragon is gone and they just need the cores and Spain will be formed, oh dear.

Meanwhile the same exact scenario happens but with the Low Countries, which is kind of ironic because I helped liberate them from their Burgundy rulers just a few years ago.

I really got into this game a while back but I never ever got good at it. I love it though, even if I haven't got a good handle on it. Mostly what happens is I struggle to sustain a good economy, slowly gain territories, over-expand my nation, then offend a larger alliance of nations and I get fucked. Then I switch to the nation that fucked me over in my save file hahaha.
But this thread has inspired me to reinstall it and try again!
Am i the only one who hasn't played a European nation? I feel like I'm not good enough at the game to manage one, so I go for the outlying nations like Persia or a nation in India.
THe only game I was ever successful in was one when I played as a nation in India, Vaharajanagar I believe it may have been called. I slowly took control of the bottom part of india and forged this really bad ass alliance with the 5 or so other indian nations in the area and together we fought against colonization attempts by spain and england and we all fought in the same wars to protect each other. It felt amazing having allies that didn't fuck me over for no reason like in RTW or Empire Total War.
Anyone have any tips for playing as Brandenburg? Everything goes fine for a while, but I never gain any provinces, and eventually just get swallowed up.
Anyone else play Eastern European nations and conquer Rus to become the 18th century Russia?
It has always been my dream to go from Poznan to Alaska

Alright, I apologize but the screenshot was from 1475, not the 1490's, now it's 1500 AD!

As you can see, Castille is gone entirely (Exactly a month after I told you guys Castille was fucked it was annexed by England.
My next best event was when Mali attacked me (Right Pink African continent.) for no reason, in which England and sweden came down and fuck them up entirely but I ended up just giving them a White peace.
I swallowed up Cherokee without a problem unlike the Huron and Creek (Fucking Bastards). I'll be choosing to expand more-so and try to see if I can also get the eastern coast of southern america so that european countries can't expand down, the best thing about this is that I already solidified North America.
As the turn of the century goes, it's mostly a sound experience with the occasional revolt (Put down by my men easily) in the Creek, Huron and Cherokee region, once those are off I'll be peaceful for a hundred years unless someone fucks with my america's.
Fuck settling down.
If you colonise, think big, don't stop until india or cape of good hope is yours
Never let the other nations take a bite.
Reserve your place in the sun.
Fuck Bitches
The only European nations that actually colonize are France, Portugal, Spain (which he killed off) and Britain so really he has no European competition of any sorts, yet.
