Turn the water to Lava and you have yourself a very effective moat.
What texture pack is that?
SphaxPureBDCraft. At least that's what it says on the texture pack selection screen.

But then my bridge and island fort would start on fire.

You learn not to build vital structures out of wood after they burn down a couple of times xD

I can't figure what all that extra shit does v:v:v The design I made was only 4 blocks out from the bridge at most. If I did it underground with some redstone torches it would take even less space! I need to start that and stop tinkering with a hidden double staircase.

Extra shit does nothing but keep the current in line, these were the only repeaters that were really necessary for the timing. Except the far left row.

Need to tear this whole thing down now because its taking up my building space.

Can't it be every 4 rows add an extra repeater? repeaters have 4 time settings.
I saw someone's post with compact vertical redstone transmitter and can't find it now, can anyone repost it if you know? It was something with redstone torches and repeaters above each other or similar.
Wish I was experienced with redstone.
How do i make a simple light switch with glowstone?

Pretty much this but I was thinking to build it underground and transmit the signal up with redstone torches.
Also I have a double staircase version of this but the video is at 6 fps so I won't upload it.

There's plenty more ways you could do it.
so does anyone have a giant flat map for redstone toying?

I just googled it and a good flat one came up,

Does anyone else agree that slimes need to be less rare? Personally I still have never seen a single one. Ever. And I've been a part of Minecraft since Indev.
This thread makes me want to get back to my OLD OLD idea of making a dynamic maze. Sadly I suck at redstone.
Someone here posted a concept of using sand duplication as a conveyer means, where at the end, the sand falls down a hole into a torch to be broken.
Well, I expanded on that idea and actually got it working. I'm going to record a video tomorrow morning, with my laptop, which has a built in webcam. I'm going to record myself explaining it (hopefully the audio pickup doesn't suck; I have no other mics though).
The system basically works by duplicating sand to push the desired block forward. It eventually pushes the block to the "destination," past the "threshold," which is where the sand falls off to be burnt by a torch. Then, once a circuit breaker is thrown, which disables the entire system (breaks the clock), a pair of pistons at the very end triggers to pick up and push the desired block out of the destination zone.
Then finally, I have a piston that dumps the conveyer, by opening up the pathway to a pit with torches that burn the sand, and after a moment, dumps the ground the torches sit over into a lava pit to permanently dispose of the sand.
Here are a few pictures of the system to hold you over until tomorrow, when I record the video. :buddy:

A straight view down the conveyer path. The sticky pistons holding the path closed are on an inverter, so throwing the dump switch disengages them and dumps the conveyer.

The three signs that are used for controls. The only control not shown is the Circuit Initialization control, which is on the other side, due to me building the clock over there and then deciding to migrate everything over. I've considered moving the clock initiation over, but it'd require moving the entire clock. I can't be assed to do it.

All in all, it took me maybe three hours. Some of the wiring is pretty counter-intuitive, because I built it as I went. I honest-to-God started this project as just a test of the clock method of breaking and replacing sandstone to make it go super fast. Everything else just kinda developed as I went on. :v:
Wow, I've tried to make some stuff.
All of the tutorials seem so simple, but when I get in-game its like a new fucking game, GOD DAMNIT!
Self repairing bridges are fun. In that I like to destroy them to see them repair themselves, even though this purpose is so miniscule I highly doubt I'll use it.
The logical conclusion of piston inventions:

It is pretty clunky, but when you've experiemented a bit and you've found its little quirks it's not so bad.
Pistons however are full of dumb bugs, like the ones I put in this video -

I just can't get the hang of stuff like this, just like wiremod.
I've played minecraft since it released and still can't get the hang of redstone.
If you're having problems with redstone wiring, this should be pretty damn helpful. (It doesn't have pistons, but just hook those up to an output)
Just give me a wireless control block that can be linked to one piston and I'd be happy.
Still don't understand much, if anyone would mind teaching me through my server I have.
PM Me if you want to help me understand redstone/want to be taught redstone, I'll give you an IP to my server.
Little project I've been working on, still some kinks I need to fix.
