Does anyone know how to make a 1x1 elevator? Can't figure it out :saddowns:

That is EXTREMELY awesome.
I'm creating a chicken coop with a chicken incinerator for when I don't want the chickens anymore.
I rely a lot on water currents to do this. I have one water current that transport the eggs to a certain spot. I have another water current that transports the chickens to the incinerator. When I pull the lever, the currents will switch between the one that gives you the eggs, and the one that transports the chickens to their doom.
This was a lot more complicated than it sounds, as a lot of things had to be done to ensure that chickens don't go with the wrong stream :saddowns:
When I'm done with it, I might post a video if I ever find a good recording software. It's too confusing to show pictures of really. I'm mostly done with it for now, but currently I haven't finished making an automated dispenser that will spawn chickens, and I haven't yet gotten my hands on something to use as an incinerator (Planning on using netherrack). It also looks somewhat shit as it's mostly built in cobble.

Won't the chickens despawn after a while?
Posted this yesterday

Now I've also made light switches on 2 floors and a fountain.

Yes, the chickens will despawn if you get too far away from the machine.
Therefor it can't just be left running when you're not around. I mostly just added the incinerator because it's fun :v:

Just tried it with sand, it basically creates a sandwall :v:

It's not secret if you can see the switch.
It's not secret if you can see the switch.
No shit
I did it to make a staircase, if someone wants to hide the switch it's easy enough to do.
I exclusively play SMP in Minecraft so i haven't used them much at all :v:
But i do have a few rather complex ideas already :buddy:

So do I normally, but i downloaded toomanyitems just so i can play with them and test ideas out in singleplayer.
Also posted to WAYWO, but here we go; a door thingy.

I've been having trouble with reversing piston actions when a switch is turned off, IE, out of 2 pistons, I need one piston to be the first to activate but the same piston has to be the second to deactivate when the switch is disabled, is there a way of doing this?
They can. They can push a deactivated piston, but not an active one.
So what happens if you push a piston up and then activate it?
So what happens if you push a piston up and then activate it?
Then it gets pushed up then activated. :colbert:
What the heck, my sticky pistons will not stick onto other sticky pistons, this is frustrating.

Or other pistons for that matter

There was a thread about this video I made yesterday but it got pushed to the second page so I might as well put it here too.

I hope they keep this bug in
Just a minute ago (before seeing the video) I accidentally did the duplication glitch without the clock. It just reproduced the one row of sand that my pistons were moving.
First deactivate the other pistons using repeaters with a higher delay.
Edit:
*a higher delay on the sticky piston
If you have a normal piston attached to a sticky piston and have a circuit that triggers the s.piston first, then uses repeaters to trigger the n.piston later on when you disable it the disablement will affect the s.piston first so it will withdraw leaving the n.piston in a later place. Only solution I can find for it is to have a couple of clocks that are the same frequency but out of phase.
Self repairing wall:

Shooting it with TNT was fun
I just got an idea how to make the basic premise of an elevator.
First of all, have sticky piston(s) pushing up two cobble blocks, then retract so one stays afloat, then have a normal piston with a cobble block on the wall fill up the empty space between the two blocks, then activate the main piston again to take it up again, retract the piston, then have another piston feed a cobble block to the piston on the wall, and have it push that into the empty space, and you can do those wall pistons on all 4 sides if its an 1x1 elevator.
Sorry if that sounded confusing, I made it up as I wrote it.
[editline]1st July 2011[/editline]
just realised that will work only one time.
If you could manage to get something like that to work with sand, you could have it go down by smashing the sand into a halfblock or something.
Got a nifty cactus-farming concept, I'll post the vid as soon as it's done processing.

i like to use my pistons for simple things. like an pushing one floor block to reveal a ladder, or a sun roof/windows.

I remade the door someone posted earlier

inside the wall (it's so long to make it look nicer, the system itself is around 4 blocks long, minus doors)

The button (from which there's also one on the other side) is connected to an underground redstone circuit, and using repeaters, I made it so that the door won't close as fast as it normally would do with a button.

Like this

To do this, the redstone loop has to be atleast 16 blocks long (from the 1st to the second repeater, the one to the left isn't part of the loop itself, it only activates it), otherwise the repeaters keep powering themselves, causing the circuit to stop.

And my pit. It works like Jeb's secret doors, but then vertically
