First sliding doors I made, I think they turned out pretty well. They are simple enough, and the wiring is pretty compact. The two outcroppings to the side house the redstone that runs underground and under the pressureplates.

Block dupe borked? It's not working anymore.

Another boring piston door
Whoever sent you a skype was rude. Release the hounds.
Is there a way to start a loop without the, "Put down torch, remove, quickly swap redstone?"

Pretty much the few things I've managed to get working. Still improving on the home so ignore shit like the bed in the library. :v:
make it so you have to throw an item into a little hole in the wall with a torch in it that triggers a pressrue plate that opens the door

The 5-clock and Rapid Pulser gates in the bottom right of this diagram:
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/c/cf/StandardLogicGates.png
They will toggle the output on and off rapidly. The pulser is random but I think the 5-clock is consistent.
The method you described is much more compact, though.

that one or a 5-clock
You... didn't even watch the video... you're the like the people that spam Facebook with status updates... Eh, whatever, you guys are awfully touchy about this stuff, I'll leave.
Ok, well, I wasn't implying anything, and assuming things like that isn't cool either, and I realize it's usually not the author's place to judge his own creation by come on most of the things in the thread have been like one single contraption, which isn't bad or unimpressive, I just put more work into this and there was a lot more too it. I'm sorry if I offended anyone but Jesus calm down. And what do you mean how much space, that was for the effect of scale. If I had made it smaller it wouldn't have looked as impressive in my opinion.
I watched the video, you got the pistons pushing the workbenches out, which is just some delays, a few doors, some coming floor and the most 'impressive' was the stairs, which again wasn't really complicated.

Just go a little closer...

I CAN'T HEAR YOU MR.BEETHOVEN!!!
I made a push clock thing and with it made a thing which pushes a line of blocks around in a circle.

The gif skips a bit at the loop join, it doesn't do that in game.

Just a few things I've done.
Anyone got any ideas for traps i could use in my deathrun course, all i have so far is:
a retractable floor
a raising floor which blocks your jump
and a pusher

You could try using iron doors hooked up to switches, and redstone torches underneath them.
The players would have to jump on the doors to get to the other side which are surrounded by lava.
Also, the switches would have a time limit, so you can't spam the door while someone's on it.

hopefully this is what you meant
What's the tiniest elevator that can be made? My smallest version is 6x6.
Added to my earlier contraption, it's now sort of spiral like.

Gah, my elevator keeps getting stuck part-way up, I can't tell if I messed some part up or if it's a bug :/
-snip-
Nevermind, i managed to fix it somehow by selecting the chunks that my house and the surrounding area were in and i used mcedit to "prune" them, somehow that fixed it :v:
I made a house where pressing the metal door opening button, 1minute later lava will flow in and a tnt is lowered from the ceiling.

Dunno if anyone has already done this, but it's a self repairing spleef arena so you don't have to do the tedious job of rebuilding after a match. It generates the cobble with lava and water poured together and pushed out with a piston instead of the duplicator glitch.

Also used the same technique to make a self rebuilding wall, but I also made one using the duplicator glitch.

Now use it as a memory tape and make it loop some animation on a redstone torch screen!

Might wanna turn down the game sound and turn up your voice if you want us to understand anything of what you're saying.

You could optimize it by pushing each opposing piston, so you push 2 sides in one clock.

Sorry I thought it was down low enough, you still get the concept though. Yeah the pistons are quite loud and obnoxious.
