Just made a manual piston mob grinder using hacks and spawners - it's for lolz, not practical use.
You're going to want to see this if the idea of 200 mobs simultaneously dying is appealing to you.

Heh, the item pickups at the end are almost like applause for the spectacle.
I recreated a 4x4 piston door which was posted here. I'm uploading a video of it.

4x4, what the hell? How on earth do you deal with the middle blocks?
I want to see this.

Why did you crush the poor zombies, they were only trying to sing in harmony! :(
I haven't even used pistons yet, but is it possible to make a chest pop out of the ground when hitting a lever, and then sliding back in like it was never there?
Or not possible because you can't move chests? In that case, would it be possible if they could move?

If chests was push-able by pistons I could have made this much cooler
Coal ore?

It's still uploading.. 134 min. left.
Am I supposed to upload 2.2Gb videos to youtube? Its duration is 2 min, straight from fraps. What do you guys use to compress the video? This is taking ages..

Use vitrualdub with the xvid or divx codec, personally i use xvid and i set the little compression slider thingy to about 3 to 5 depending on how much of a hurry i'm in.
Installing Virtualdub right now and attempting the upload.
Working on a 1x1 elevator.
Currently, it only goes up at a nice speed.

One of the arms. The circuitry on this one is rather simple.

Next, I'll make it go down.
I can only save as .avi What do?
I can only save as .avi What do?
AVI is fine, it's the compression you wanna change :P
Video -> Full Processing Mode (make sure it's checked)
Video -> Compression
In that new window, select DivX or Xvid, whichever you're using, then hit Ok, then File->Save as AVI. It'll render to an AVI file much smaller than the one output by FRAPs.

If you manage to make it go both up and down can you show how you made it do that? That would be very useful!
I can only save as .avi What do?
To be honest the easiest way is to just open it in windows live movie maker and save it as 720p / 1080p, whatever you recorded as. It makes much smaller files and the quality is still good.
Chris220 explained how to do the virtualdub + xvid method though.
I'm now doing it with virtualdub just for the sake of it ;)
I'll try with movie maker on another video of the house I intend to put the door in :)

Yes it would be possible, but they cant move.
You could make the floor move up and down though
Fuck! I need to restart in order to compress with DivX, I just installed the codec..
Restarting will cancel my upload.. Which has only 82 min left.

Have you tried doing it without the restart? Some software just say you need to restart, just to look important. I swear...
I tried, but DivX is simply not available in the compression window.
Now I've restarted, and still there's nothing.
What should I do?
And only my old computer had Windows Live Moviemaker, but I wiped its HDD to use it with this computer :suicide:

Ah well, if you want to watch just the audio, you can on youtube, but the video is screwed.
It's probably annoying you having to download all this stuff, but give Xvid a go. It's basically a more free version of DivX, and I've found it to be a lot better in terms of options and setting it up.
Good luck :)
Install the XVid codec, its great and works with VDub
Finished a fully programmable, 11 frame, animated 7 segment display.
Fraps rapes my FPS, any tips on making it work better?
Uploading a working video of the door now. Finally.
28min.
Just made a nice player trap, but the redstone torches keep burning out for no reason.
